  • truly, from appreciation a small USA town named a street after this band; vasen street.

  • In three years, Treva will play this festival. Mark my words!

  • yuckkyyy teresa :p

  • Great stuff! I especially like that deep, full sound of Tallroth's guitar. That and his percussive way of playing

  • Is there a transcription of this? I was going to order your sheet music book off your website but it doesn't have this piece. COuld I buy the sheet music to this please???

  • I think the correct translation for nyckelharpa is key fiddle.

  • what instrument is the man in the middle playing?

  • @Sponger500 Nyckelharpa

  • what is that instrument?

  • i love this song

  • Fabulous Band!

Saw them at Telluride Blugrass Fest 10 days ago. Huge, captivating, celto-scandinavian sound from 3 instrumentalists. Mesmerizing performance!!

  • Saw them live at Live Oak Music Festival! They're wondrous!

  • Will there be a Nordic Roots 2010?

  • In my opinion Väsen is the best nordic band by far, such virtuoso musicians! and the sound they produce together is so masterfully crafted, incredibly cohesive!

  • @lelapindore

    Have you heard Hedningarna?

  • @clorofilazul

Hedningarna is one of my favorite bands of all time, I do hope both groups continue playing this wonderful music

  • Its called a Nyckelharpa and its only found in Sweden. It dates back over 600 years and according to Olov, it predates the fiddle. I just got back from seeing the band with Darol Anger and Mike Marshall. Tomorrow they fly to Seattle for Wintergrass.

  • It's not actually only found in Sweden any longer, though that's where it's from originally. There are a couple of hundred here in the US, a bunch in Japan, and lots throughout Europe.

  • What is that instrument? Never have seen one before! Beautiful music!!!

  • @fatdanios It's a "nyckelharpa" (keyed harp). It was quite popular all over europe in the later medieval period, but the tradition more or less died out apart from some places in eastern sweden, especially the region of Uppland.

  • Loving it...

    so nice
