they thought this was too hard so they came out with the the other super mario 2. when they made the lost levels on all starts they actually made it easier i hear too. forget what they changed.

Around 3:30, you could have ran, then squatted down really fast and made it under there to the other side of the blocks, I play it all the time, that's how I know.

for those who don't know, the forts are actually toilets and the plot of this andd the first one is that mario bros. enters a contsest to see how many toilets they can go in through out the kingdom. ( also doing the job as plumber and fix the leaky sinks.) when he gets to the first castle, he avoids the red sewage (you thought that was lava? how do you keep lava in a castle) he finds a guy that accidentally flushed himself who tells him of the hot princess who also flushed herself at the end.

Yeah..I believe that purple mushroom is a Poison Mushroom (you can tell from the "skull" cap and "angry" eyes). From what I've heard..if you get it, and if you're a Super/Fiery Mario, you revert back to regular Mario; and if you're already a regular Mario, you'll lose a life right then and there.

You're lucky you're not playing the original FDS version. You'd have to continue from the beginning of the world every time you get Game Over. That was pure hell the first time I went through this game.

Not only was the game too difficult, when Americans wanted the next Mario game, this version of Mario 2 was already several years old (and therefore very dated), while Doki Doki Panic (which became Super Mario Bros 2 USA), was released here.
