I agree with the other posters here, you portray the Valkyrie as some kind of evil characters out of an American horror movie and only serves to demonize pagan beliefs. The Valkyrie were very similar to Morrighan, yes they were not angelic types but they encapsulated the fury of battle and linked the brave warriors that they choose to the afterlife. They were feared but they weren't evil, in fact their full fury was usually directed against wrong doers rather than a Christian forgiveness.
Valkyrie was sent by the as-gods to transfer fallen norsewarriors to the steps of valhalla. The greatest honor any viking could get was to be choosen for there courage and and fightingskilla. Dont understand how you can make them into vampires and flesheaters
@farbrorbla There is also a "dark side" known about valkyries. That they have been sent to kill as the Nibelungs legend says, Brunhild has been sent for Odin himself to kill Siegmund and Sieglind.
nice concept for your film. however those that follow the Asatru will not take it to well.
Freyja was no vampier and the Valkyrie were far from vampires but this is fiction so I can understand where you are coming from. Will you make the other film tat you say has grown out of this concept?
The role of whomen in valhalla and in the old religion is great an equal to men. The Valkyrie is a whomen soldier wich job it is to pick the bravest amongst the dead and bring them to Valhalla. Freyja the godes of love get half of those who die in battle an Odin half such was the contract the old gods made. How ever later cristian Vikings revrote the old sagas and like true cristians they kept the role of whomen to the minimum. When the world comes to end in Ragnarok Valkiries fight to death.
This is a tipical cristian movie... always saying that Asatru religion is Evil... stupid cristians... they dont get it, and they will never do... ignorant fools.
Bullshit, this film or whatever it is. It's sad how far one can go perverting parts of an ancient heritage. The film portrays precisely how christian bastards wanted to erase the old heathen values from germanic societies.
I have no belief in christianity or the persons following it. They are drones and believe in fairy tales and fiction. This movie concept is exactly the same. Fairy tales and fiction.
where your fantasy takes you is something that is your business. now, playing around with old norse mythology is something else...and its that else that is sad. think you misinterpreted my comment, cause your reply makes no sense.
vampires and valkyries are not related, at any point. glad this prev will never evolve into something longer and come to see the light of the day. you should defend you own heritage, not cast sand on it.
I play around with whatever my imagination wants. Mixing stuff around and getting feedback for doing so means I really have hit a spot of interrest in such a movie concept. Yeah, vampires and valkyries are not related, even I know that, that's why it was done.
lol! sure you have the right to play around with whatever you feel like - but you would never get a dime from my pocket for looking at this piece of lies :D.....which is a bit in line with pretty much everyone around here - except for the comments you published yourself, naturally :D
script writters do a hell lot of research, did you know that? ignorance is a bliss, isnt it? :D
be very clear, the fuss is about the content - not about how you made the whole thing. sure it drags, sure the voice over lasts far, far, far, far too much time, sure the music is far too loud, sure the image needs a lot more definition...hey, its fine - this is a mockup and just showcases your project. on that area i think you made a great job.
its the story you tell that is plain and absolute tosh - and the public doesnt like to be treated as idiots. thats all. klem fra lissabon :)
Treated like idiots? Not my intention, but nice to see how many people are tied up with tales and religion hundres of years after. It's not even "history" it's written by drunk vikings with a lot of imagination. "Women walking the battle fields converting into crows and bringing the souls up to Valhalla"...people will believe anything won't they? Idiots created this myth and idiots follow and try to protect it's legacy. I don't, never has and never will. Consider it our story based on old lies.
Lies may be the wrong word I searched for, but fairytale is more representable for all religions. And, well, this is fiction and it came out as a Valkyrie+Vampire crossover. A twist its called. I know the difference, don't worry. See for instance The Underworld movies..same thing, mix of two different "species". Our Valkyrie is the same style. And we didn't steal the Underworld idea. Our Valkyrie/Vampire concept was born January 2003. 11 months before the Underworld was released in Norway.
Yeah, the script writer did a lot of research, rented stacks and stacks of books. He's the engineer, I'm the visionary/director and also the co-scriptwriter to bring in the CGI and action. Ignorance is the best bliss in the world. Love it. Piece of lies? No, it's not. That's when its called documentary which it is not. It's pure entertainment with surely a twist.
martial arts and old norse mit., well why not ... guess how much ONLY their armor weighted? :D thats the shogun stunt going down the drain....hehe. else, lies.
Yah, a nice indie movie was probably what we intended when I think back on our discussions, me and the scriptwriter had. It was also a approach to create something hollywood-ish in Norway with CGI and all that b-movies in the 80's could cough up... You see these kind of movies are boring for Hollywood and the rest of the world (they still do them) but in Norway...well...it would be something unique. There aren't any Norwegian supernatural movies, only guys running in woods chasing people movies.
Im terribly sorry but I think it was probably best that this film was never made. Too many cliches, too much martial arts and this storytellers voice goes on for way too long, could someone give him something to clear his throat with?
Yes, its filled with cliches. We love and got inspiration from Shogun The Assassin amongst many other martial arts and special effect based movies. But, this movie wont be made, and the trailer was just playing with ideas anyway. The man acting as Ignasarus (which also did the voice-over) also wrote the script together with me. He passed away 2 years ago. So, this project has passed away too.
This is crazy, like comparing the disciples of christ to vampires - or any christian who receives communion. Sure, great imagination - but still - it's really FAR OUT.
hehe the white girl on 03:56 shes a friend of mine we live in norwegian we used to go and swim :D ser driit bra ut :D håpe ann komme på kino då:) - Marcus
Heh, which I luckily never watched one single show of due to the stagelike and theaterlike makeup/costumes appearances, not to mention the face of the Hercules actor himself which to me was a b-face. That mentioned, the same goes for the manlike woman Xena show.
Oh please people it isn't real life infact neither is the mythology . Great!!! I"D pay to see it I paid to see films that were much worse . Work it out dude i think you have a winner .
Nice atmosphere. The wafting white material in the castle courtyard was superb and the voice over has fantastic presence. We are looking forward to seeing more. It will look great after some color grading.
hmm this is an interesting take on the original Norse concept of the Chooser of the slain and the background and costumes isn't that bad either ^^ !!! I love it!!! Great try! The "valkyrie" that interrupts the narration every now and then IS freaky X_X !!!
The Valkyries are minor Norse deities who choose the bravest fallen warriors and carry them to Valhalla where they become einherjar (spirits of dead warriors). They don't eat them. Nor do they drink their blood.
By "chooser of the slain" they didn't mean anything lilke vampires or atures to be feared. To be chosen by a Valkyrie is a thing of great honor. They literally meant "chooser of the slain"
Thanks for the feedback, yea its going real slow, but it is the nature of previz/concept trailers, more relaxing pictures with some buildups. They're not 1minute of Tarantino or John Woo dynamite!
They are not vampires, but also also known as "She-Were-Wolf". But we rather liked the idea of a female vampire (more sensual) and we mixed two entities together. Our Valkyrie (Ylva) is an fictional "unheard-of" Valkyrie, and not from the original 3 to 16th known Valkyries. The movie you see is a prewiz made with no money and during free time to have more ground material than just a script to deliver. Normally you have drawings/concept art to show off, we did this instead.
Great locations and technique !!

Anyway don't use the word Valkyries when you don't know. Just use vampire if it's vampire you are talking about.
