  • This music was great for the ending. I came out a man... Who needed to change his pants

  • I still remember my entire dream about being in amnesia (this one was about saving someone who i then become involved with and when we got to a room with this theme playing, there comes a scene abit like lucian and sonja in underworld (i know some of it sounds sugar coated but alot of this dream was scary)

  • after all of that and you would enter this hall, you would break down into tears and spend the rest of the night inside it...safe...at peace

  • YES! I'M OUT OF THE WATER!

  • i was saddened when i came back and saw this place had gone to crap @_@

  • And then you see the Storage... Oh god why? :(

  • nice music to take a bath, thou my bath tub isn´t as fancy..

  • Perhaps the most relaxing part of a game that constantly tries to kill you.

  • When I die and go to Sovngarde or Heaven or Valhalla or where ever the fuck we go when we die, THIS music WILL be playing when I'm there.

Unless I go to hell, where it'll just play that creepy ass RUN soundtrack..

Anywho, I think this music is great and fit the game quite well for this part.

  • lyrics : EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

  • THis song helps me express my sadness..loneliness! :(

  • @Kennychan222 Hang in there buddy.

  • The music was perfection and I really enjoyed how you cued up the images. The images along with the music is completely amazing - I could actually picture myself in those room. Can you picture me in a virtual world? Maybe I shouldn't ask questions here. Thank you for this.

  • never ever did i play a game so intense and great, i love to play again.. but i already played it 3 times, and completed it, and i still shit my pants but it is worth it, such a beautyfull and awesome game!

  • 777 people like, 7 dislike?

  • After the water part : "Oh my god, i love this place :'( "

  • What a beautiful masterpiece by Mikko Tarmia. And if you just analyze it, you figure out, it is so simple music. Simple, but effective. After the water monster part, it was a real salvation.

    Mikko Tarmia is so great!

  • I want this song, but I don't dare get the full OST... I know I'll get a nervous breakdown if I hear the grunt theme one more time.

    D:

Also, I'm totally going to make them play this at my funeral.

  • for a horror game, this is freaking epic soothing soul music right here. ||3

  • Did you extend this yourself?

    Is a download link possible... ? *^*

    Oh please...

  • @CheshireAndAliceee Get yourself a generic youtube downloader. There are dozens of it.

  • @paddymoep but they make the mp3 lesser quality. :C

  • @CheshireAndAliceee Hardly, just get DVDvideosoft and the youtube plugin. It's top quality, for free.

  • @paddymoep Thanks, I did!

    Testing it out now. :)

  • @CheshireAndAliceee I've been using YouTube Downloader for a while. No issues for me.

  • @CheshireAndAliceee There was a link. I created a 14 minute version but it was only temporary. Silly me forgot to bookmark the link to it. Maybe I'll do another one soon.

  • @1337fox kaaaaaay :)

  • Exactly what @OMFGWTF01 said! The game is so immersing, and the Back Hall looks so beautiful after being in that flooded area, I literally felt as though I could have collapsed against the fountain in the middle of the room, and felt completely safe. Then, of course, later on, the Back Hall doesn't feel safe at all! :D

  • mikko tarmia you rock

  • After the water part my heart was still beating hard...then when I walked up the stairs it was the most relaxing thing ever...then I saw the Guest Room door...

  • im starting up my new computer and listening to this, man ima miss this

  • in a game that seems like it has been drawn out from the devils own anus, a little bit of incredibly beautiful scenery and music descends. just want to cry myself to sleep with this soundtrack. <3

  • Need to loop it... trying to fall asleep... to lazy to get get up and hit replay.

  • @A2ndhaze567 Probably too late to say this now, but you can write "repeat" in the url for this video and you come to a very simple site that loops any youtube video.

Just like this:youtube (dot) com, would become youtuberepeat (dot) com.

  • @mardar18 Thanks, I didn't know. I instead just made a playlist with "Back Hall" as the only song and have loop itself.

  • *finishes water part*

Me :Ohhhhh, this is so peaceful :)

    *walks into storage*

    Me: ಥ_ಥ

"The darkness in the storage feels unnatural"

    *save and exit*

  • @Hanzy302

    Trolololol

  • People try to say that Penumbra is better than Amnesia, and Penumbra does have that cold, alone, stranded feeling to it what with its blue gray walls and rooms and monsters, it gives you a chill... However, Amnesia has better true historical links and better mysteries)...It never gets truly resolved... Who are/were the monsters? Were they really there? Was Alexander truly mad? Are they all still there???

Sorry, had to rhyme... So many questions, so little answers and a spectacular game... WOW!!!

  • @12walkietalkie13 I think penumbra was good in its own way- and that too never gets resolved, at least not for me because I didn't play requiem due to its lameness. At the end of black plague you can't really tell if you made it out of the complex or not- it almost seems like you were writing a message to yourself. As with Amnesia, some of those questions are answered. The monsters were Alexander's servants and guards who drank poisoned wine to become infected. Alexander wasn't mad, he was alien

  • @Kuszh Frictional Games released some stories that differ from those in the game, so the monsters could be anything from servants/guards to random people

And Alexander could have been truly mad, thinking he was a higher being than the rest of humanity. Some men are driven mad by the loss of their wives and as we can see by some messages in Amnesia he had one. He could have made up his entire life out of grief

Penumbra did have an open ending, however the opening is narrow

    ,Makes ya think

  • @12walkietalkie13 Agreed, truly the games are set up to be explored as if you were reading a novel. They make you ask the same questions too, for an indie developer, the sheer talent and depth of story the team had is incredibly apparent. And I didn't realize frictional game released additional stories? If so then that's awesome.

  • @Kuszh On some of their pages they answered questions about the monsters and such... However, their answers vary... Sometimes it's one things, sometimes it's another, so we all really don't know.

Frictional Games are completely and amazingly talented... I hope they come out with another horror game :D

They do have an Amnesia extension, called Justine :)

  • @12walkietalkie13

You do know that Alexander is actually not a human?

  • @wackaful he is -_-

  • @wackaful People are saying that Alexander was actually not a human, that he was an alien of sorts, and the awesome custom story Through the Portal increased that belief. However, I believe that Alexander was a man driven insane by the loss of his wife which lead him into a delirious state where he believed he was a better being than everyone else around him, that he had lived forever and was... An alien of sorts. No one really knows, though, so it is all a matter of opinion :D

  • @12walkietalkie13

But I thought I remembered Agrippa or Weyer or some random person's journal mentioning something about him being immortal, and that he'd been in the order pretty much as long as it had been around...

I don't remember, my brain suppressed a lot of memories once I finished the game.

  • @frobie54 Haha, yeah I think that there was something in the game saying something about how Alexander was immortal, but if it was someone else, how would they know, and if if was Alexander, he could just be delirious...

  • @12walkietalkie13 Just gonna interject here.. It's really unlikely that Alexander's a human as it's stated many times in the game that the Kaernk (water horror) is a being from his home world.

Also, he created the tainted wine to feed his servants, in order for the demons which inhabited the bodies of the servants and turned them into the Grunts and Brutes we know and fear. It's pretty safe to assume that he had this goal in mind when he gave them the wine, as the grunts and brutes are known..

  • @ChaosmusicEX ..as 'Gatherers', probably to 'gather' Daniel to stop him from recollecting the Orb pieces and from murdering Alexander. The orbs are definitely otherworldly artefacts because of their power and the link with the Shadow. Alexander must have known about the Orb's power for a long time (possibly his immortal life before the events of TDD) either due to his connections with Agrippa/Johan or years of research..

I kinda started blabbering there, sorry x)

  • @ChaosmusicEX Blabbering is fine :)

This conflict could really go on forever, seeing as no questions are really answered. Alexander could be immortal, the more popular opinion, or just a mad man, my theory. But it's all up to Frictional Games from the real story. I like to think that he's actually insane because it fits MUCH better into the whole concept of Amnesia, but Frictional does has a history with aliens, that would be Penumbra.

It's all up to the player to choose.(Cont...)

  • @12walkietalkie13 ...(Cont) ...And that's what I love about Amnesia. Most is up to the player. The Kaernk could be an otherworldly being or the result of an experiment of Alexanders that he, in his madness, believed it was another creature or something similar.

Gatherers are a different story. The men in the wine cellar

weren't really his servants, they were men in his service, but not the servants that Daniel talks about in journals

I could go on forever, so I'll stop here :D

  • @12walkietalkie13 Daniel didn't realize that Alex had manipulate him. The Shadow know this, and it will use every memory about the tortuned victims to make Daniel feels guilty. In his final attempts to take his vengeance on Alexander, he tried to erase his memory by drinking the Amnesia Mixture (or should I say, Memory Charm Potion), in hope it shall give him some more time to escape The Shadow.

  • @12walkietalkie13 Well, Alex can't just use his power to control Wilhelm and his people, so Alex using his own method to force every human to serve him forever. His intention to return home is as big as his attempts to be an immortal being, however Alex broke Agrippa's Orb when he prematurely activated it. When he thought all hopes are gone, Herbert (Daniel's teacher or something) told him that he found two Orbs in Algeria, thus giving Alex a final hope to return to his world.

  • @SplashLurky10 I'm sorry, your English was kindda broken and I found it hard to follow your train of thoughts... There are many different stories people believe and many different versions and that's one of the great attractions in Amnesia... It's all up to the player. :)

  • @12walkietalkie13 I know, sorry. It's just, Amnesia The Dark Descent story is way too complex for me. I had no idea how it started, and the reason why it happened.

  • @SplashLurky10 Yeah it was pretty complex and misleading :) I played it twice and have watched multiple playthroughs... I think I understand most of the story and some of the possible answers, but it is all a HUGE mystery because there are SO many possibilities. :D

  • This is the best horror game ever!

  • Well, I did it. Huh.

  • When i entered this room ...... i found it easy to masturbate with.

  • *grrf* *wtf!?*

    RUN RUN RUN! RUUUUUUUUUUUN!

    RUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUN!

    Oh... nice.. :) relax...

  • I think I could probably make one. Not with this music though, it's too calm for that.

  • I'm wondering why there's seemingly no music videos for Amnesia. I mean, there are tons of them for games like Doom 3 and Half-life 2, but I can't find any with Amnesia gameplay footage. Pictures don't count.

  • @Reloaded211 Uhhh, maybe because those games are 6-7 years old and this game has just been released for a year?

    Oh, that wasn't obvious enough?

  • This adds a much needed tone of kindness to the game, kind of makes you wonder...

  • FUCK FUCK FUCK THERES THE DOOR! OMG OMG OMG GO GO GO GO GO RUN FASTER!........... YES! I MADE IT! OMG! THANK GOD! My head is pounding... Omg I am so relieved.

  • This makes you feel like Alexander wasnt such a great evil after all, but a desperate man, who wanted to return home... That those are not monsters, that they are servants... That the shadow is not an omniprezent beast, that its a soothing watcher...

  • I love how the torch fits perfectly in the "e". Was that deliberate?

  • @TheShadowman60 No It wasn't. Only the two torches surrounding the title was.

  • @1337fox Kewldood

  • Amazing how a game like this could be made by such a small company...Frictional Game may be the best makers of a Horror game ever...

  • This remainds me of Dark Cloud 1, anyone else?

  • @AggressiveMassacre eh, not really. Dark Cloud is one of my favorite games though.

  • @Nonlethal106 Well i guess i'm the only one. but always when i listen this, it bring so much memories from DC, don't know why :D

  • one word. Wow.

  • Pewdiepie would love this=)

  • When I go to Heaven... I want this to be my background music. (bow)

  • imagine this song in your funeral

  • @504794 Well good luck never hearing this song again...

  • This song is bloody fantastic! Everything about Amnesia is just amazing what they've managed to do as an Indie studio. Thumbs up to Frictional Games!

  • This must be the chorus when you enter heaven.

  • @yinyengz515 It would be actually fucking cool if you're your own god in heaven.

So i would recreate Amnesia and the castle, make myself daniel and play the game "myself".

    Wouldn't that be fucking awesome?

  • @paddymoep

You want to go....through that? Are you a masochist, at all? You sound like one.

  • @TaurenWarchief Come on, don't be a pussy. You can bring a sword, if you want. I won't.

  • @paddymoep Fuck that I'm bringin' a -gun-. Come at me Grunt.

  • ...the only problem with this is that I get scared when it ends.

  • IT'S OVER? NO MORE WATER? OMG OMG MY FUCKING HEART IS POUNDING SO HARD. OMG FUCK THIS GAME. IM DONE. FINALLY!!!

  • yeah, after the water part... such a relief...and that music...just amazing

    great job Frictional

  • 6 people didn't make it past the water part.

  • can't stop listening to this. I HUNGER...FOR MORE....

  • All hail PewDiePie!!!!

  • I want a remix! D:

  • Is it just me or does this music remind you of resident evil 1? or the save theme in RE4?

  • where can I download this?

  • *during water part*

    "OSHITOFUCKOSHITOFUCKOCRAPOFUCKOSHITSOONTHERE,SOONTHERE,SOONTHERE, FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!!!!

    *Entering black hall*

    haaah, feels good man!

  • lol when i hear this music i went ^_^ but when i look at the likes i see "666 likes" i was all O_o;

  • Being greeted by this wonderful song after the water horror, it made me feel like I ascended the stairs to heaven when walking up those stairs. I never wanted to go any further at this point.

    Exceptionally good game.

  • @OMFGWTF01 I knew when hearing that music, I wouldn't encounter monsters in that room

  • Day[9], you can't pull the legs out of the fountain!

  • Entering this room gives you the sense that you are safe, and that nothing can happen to you here. Because this is a genuinely scary game, I stayed here for an hour feeling safe.

  • When I first heard this theme I chilled

but then I realised that the only way to continue the game was to cut the music and ruin the peace..

That was exactly what happened later when I entered the storage..

  • When i entered this room after what seemed to be the traumatizing level with the water terror, i felt so relieved. My heard was pounding, my hands were shaking, and i was breathing heavily. Yet i let out a laugh, yelling in my mind "I made it!". As i was laughing in relief, and almost madness, i realized...this didn't even happen in real life but it felt that way...Bravo Frictional Games, way to make a game feel TOO genuine

btw, i have a bag of milkyways.

  • @Klonzepam At Night. :3

  • @ToEveryEnemy Oh shit i found a bag of milky ways :3

  • B-e-a-uitiful

  • This song helps me fall asleep from hectic work with bad working partners

  • I remember reaching this point in the game, and hearing this music. I ended up staying in that room for about 30 minutes, because it was so safe and peaceful. I finally decided that it had to be left behind to continue the game, lol. I missed it once it was gone.

  • "Ahhh, that's such a lovely piece of music, I feel actually calm again, guys. nothing can stop me in this game. It's going to be lots of pretty flowers, and rainbows, and cuddly rabbits, and Ronald McDonald running between them throwing chips in the air. and um, everything will be fine, everything will be happy. That's what this music tells me. This is a game about... Daniel falling in love with Alexander in an intense romantic gay relationship.

    -door opens-

    I'm scared again now."

  • This 110% EPIC!

    Thanks for uploading.

  • This makes me wanna play this all the more,

  • 5 People didn't realise that the Back Hall is a safe-zone in Amnesia and they got scared of the fountain

    Amazing song btw

  • @Fawcan Well, amnesia makes you paranoid. I thought it was goingt to move and attack me anytime.

As well as the dissected dog on Alexander's study.

  • @darkprogram Exactly the same for me :)

  • I didnt think too much about this game until i came to this hall, the music and feeling about this room just really got me totally into the game and i basicly finished the game from there in one go... this game is made by geniuses..

  • ah, the music of safety.

  • Enjoy the light and calmness of this place while you can cos very soon you'll have to keep moving and continuing your epic journey :P

  • Микко Тармия знает своё дело, саундтрек игры великолепен!

  • this was the first time I actually felt like warm and safe in the game. never wanted to leave that cozy hall

  • Comment removed

  • @Wrestlemaniac hahahahhaha thats awsome dude! u have to make a video with that in xD

  • @YumiYama There are only three endings in the game. One involves your actual death. The second is the destruction of Alexander. The third is like the first two but with a twist. What I understand by four meanings is that when you are put into a holding cell you can wait to die...that is the same as the first ending.

  • I relaxed GREATLY in this part. Horror struck me when the music changed at that part, not because creepy music is horrific, but because I discovered that I am never TRULY safe in Amnesia

  • 5 people fell asleep and got pwned by a zombie.

  • I haven't even played Amnesia.. I've watched Zooc(doesstuff) and Jesse Cox's playthrough's though. They were awesome and this music is breathtaking..

  • Here's to the creepiest castle filled with the most impossible creatures alive!

  • ...after all the freight....after all the running....after all the searching....after the oil finally ran out.... after sanity almost took over.... you find a way out.... out of the dark and into the light.... you sanity is crystal clear , right who's up for a poem?

  • well those pictures were from the game!! from the hub level after you have completed the water monster!!!

  • Youtube should implement a feature where you actually have to give a reason why you dislike a video, this can prevent bots, and it will result in better feedback and higher quality videos. THUMBS UP SO PEOPLE CAN SEE!!!

  • @Flipybitz

But then you should have to give a reason as to why you LIKE someone's video; you shouldn't be allowed to just mindlessly thumbs everything up.

Disliking is just as valid an action as Liking; some consider it to be more so.

  • @Flipybitz I usually flag bad videos according to content. It does work sometimes

  • @Flipybitz if you simply don't like it, and the video doesn't contain bad content (i.e. racism, religion hate, spam, et cetera), then you definitely should NOT be able to have more influence over the vide than just a couple of red pixels

  • fourth ending? i know only the good, the bad and the revenge ending.

  • @heikkint the fourth ending is when you get captured and put in the cell. if you wait around rather than trying to escape the shadow consumes you and the game ends at that point

  • @heikkint the fourth ending is when you get captured and put in the cell. if you wait around rather than trying to escape the shadow consumes you and the game ends at that point

  • As soon as I turned that right corner out of the Archives and heard a growl, I ran as far back as I could in panic, hid in a room with my lantern doused, and waited. Finally I said, "Yeah, I think that's enough for today." And I haven't played it again since.

  • @desuforeverlulz Don't worry, it's safe to go on :D

  • @Patacorow I'm in the area after you dissolve the pink stuff with the acid. There are a few rooms that go in a continuous circle and there are no monsters, but there is one door that is "locked from the other side." What do I do?

  • Sanctuary...

  • After being chased by this horrible thing in the water, there's no way a NORMAL HUMAN BEING could not calm down while listening to this music. Frictionnal Game did their job well by putting this soundtrack just after Kaernk.

  • *finished up water part*

omg no more water ? oke

    *this starts playing*

    ohhh, this is beautiful

    *walks into storage*

    NOPE

    *save and exit*

  • @Hanzy302 Hah, I can one-up that. I'm in storage with no tinderboxes and no lantern.

  • @YouDuck2345 hahaha XD that is the worst thing thet ever happened to u .... i hope you have strong hearth

  • @Hanzy302 Why do I feel a sense of Irony comming from your comment?

Oh, I done the same thing that's why!

  • This is so peacful... after that water chase

  • The ones who disliked this disliked it. Please deal with it. I'm so sorry for bringing it up but haters hate. Thats how it is. Just ignore them and enjoy this amazing piece of music.

  • Really gives you the feel of relaxation and feeling like you've done so far in this game haha :)

  • daniel was a good human he saved the world of the akopalipse but the end of daniels story is he die ( he lost his Famely he was alone with the creatures of darknes and saved the world alone yeah daniel was a good human and he diet alone Amnessia the darkdescent buy it or die alone in the darknes amnessia the best game ever)

  • @14Sead He doesn't have to die. In three of the four endings that are possible in the game, he does in fact die, but if you make Daniel kill Alexander by knocking over the three pillars that support the portal in the Inner Sanctum, he walks out of the castle guilt free. The Shadow has no influence over him due to his redeeming actions.

  • @milkwad1 youtube in the afterlife? cool XD

  • this is so beautiful! I could listen to an endless version of this....how could 4 people dislike this?? Maybe they didn't had anything better to do, or maybe they never heard this after beeing chased by an invisible water monster for an hour ç___ç

  • I stayed there at least 10 mins before I moved on to the guest room.

  • @ElfenCried yeah its soo calm and peaceful in there :)

  • @ElfenCried Yeah. I'm not going anywhere next time I play this. Not the Study, Guest Room or even that damn place I don't wanna enter. :(

  • exactly the track i was looking for:D

and ofcourse it turned out first, when i typed ,,amnesia: dark descent music'' into the search thing

  • look up "Empty Houses" Bioshock Soundtrack. Play this and that at the same time and you will start weeping like a little girl.

  • This music and the enviroment where it plays is one the most devilish creations i have ever experienced in gaming history. The tranquility and feeling of safety is there only to be taken away from you once you step outside the fountain area. And later it really disturbs you to see what this peaceful place has become...

What can i say? Perfection, perfect blend of peacefulnes, shattering of your morale later, uplifting when first met and yet sorrowful. And all this before you even see the choir

  • I want this music in my heaven. I WANT IT.

  • @elusivecure57 I haven't been able to find the key yet... Are you sure it's in the guest room? 'Cause I found the three cylinders needed to make the elevator work and I need to escape the gatherer who tries to find you once you find them ^_^' , buy the machine room key still eludes me :/

  • @BlakMuffin Look at the walls. it's quite logical. It's hidden of course.

  • @heikkint I found the key already, but thanks for telling me anyway. I felt kinda stupid after finding it XD

But if by logic you meant common sense, I'll just tell you right now that there is no such thing as common sense because common sense isn't common at all; it's only what's obvious to me or you, not meaning that what's obvious to me will be obvious to anyone else or that what's obvious to anyone else will be obvious to both of us.
