Dusty Rhodes, Magnum TA, the Road Warriors, Jerry Lawler, Bill Dundee, Roddy Piper, even Randy Savage had all been down that road before Austin ever laced up a pair of boots. Austin was simply another version of something that had worked for years in wrestling before. Vince and his cronies just try to make everyone think they were geniuses to "come up with it."

I wonder if Bob Geigel resigned at the end of 1986 for stripping Magnum TA of the NWA United States Heavyweight Title. The fans probably hated his guts and blamed him for so much injustice going on in the NWA during 1986 when the rulebreakers (Four Horsemen included) got away with murder for their so-called conduct on the fan favourites. Geigel should have gone on to manage the Koloffs instead of being a NWA representative for his poor decision in this clip.

By this time, the Crockett family had begun to buy many of the territories and the NWA president had become a figurehead role, much like Jack Tunney as WWF president.

Well to be fair, the promo Miz gave Monday on Raw was money and Mcintyre and Morrison have had a good old school style intense feud which isn't surprising considering Michael Hayes books. I wonder how long it will take before HHH and Vince cuts Miz and MVP's legs out. Anything to make the mid-card titles important again I'm all for.

Magnum in a way was a early version of what Stone Cold Steve Austin would become. Magnum was a good guy but he had a badass edge to him that made girls and guys cheer for him versus the babyface do-gooder image of John Cena who gets booed.

"Oh, ya! well reprimand this!!!" This was a classic. It was excellent booking too. You can get the belt off Magnum without having him lose it....and make him a hero at the same time. It sets up the best of seven series for the Great American Bash. This is an example of how Jim Crockett Promotions was a great company and things could have turned out differently. Yes he made some big mistakes that forced him to sell to Ted Turner but he went down with all guns blazing.

Magnum said in a interview he didnt pull his punch on Geigel in this segment because in addition to being a NWA representative, he was owner of Central States wrestling and he was a scumbag who cheated guys out of money. Ric Flair even said Geigel owes him thousands of dollars in unpaid money and even had to pay out of his own pocket to go wrestle for him (thus missing Reid's birth) after Geigel lied about paying himself to bring him in.
