Hello Mick, you play this better than you played the bass back in the Sixties, I only counted 8 wrong notes. By the way, I found an old shirt of yours in the back of my car, I'll give it back to you next time I see you, regards to Di', Ron.
You said your copy of a f5 morgan monroe lacks tone, and your f2 has better sound. You think that just, because it doesn't say Gibson. I hate to tell you. Your Gibson doesn't have any more sound. The Morgan Monroe sounds better. In your other videos. I've heard alot of Gibson that only sound ok.
Mick, I can't tell you how many times I've watched this video. I love it. I bought my first instrument ever, a mandolin, in April 2010, and started taking lessons soon after. I'm a bit old to start this, but what the heck, I'm having fun... Someday maybe I can play this. Thanks for sharing this, and your other videos!
Hi Mick. I enjoyed watching you have fun with your mando. I love that tune and the tone of your Morgan Monroe was actually quite nice even coming across lousy computer speakers. I've got quite a few videos up....a couple showcasing an Eastwood electric mandocaster that you might find interesting. Cheers from Sunny California. -Brian
Hey Mick nice picking great tune -- did you realize you intro'd it as Fisher's hornpipe? Fisher's is a lot easier song to play -- Sailor's is a workout and you do a nice job!
nice job !!! ... had a cheap one myself and got to admit i gave up with it and sticking to guitar and banjo ... all respect to anyone who ends up playing the mando ... once again ... nice job !
thank you so much i really apreciate it and my friend has one and im having a little trouble playing but its my first time playing a 8string instrument but i love how it sounds and thats funny cuz i like classic rock , rock, and metal but theres something about the mandolin that i love,
OH yeah. that sounds like a morgan monroe.. I have one of those and it has the same tone... a little nasal..but the best quality i could find for my budget.. GO MORGAN MONROE! woot woot
Great stuff! Good to see you so obviously enjoying yourself. That tune always reminds me of Last Night At The Proms. Must have a go at it having heard yo do it. I might have a go at posting the version of Fisher's that I know.
I have this vid bookmarked and always watch it whenever I need some cheering up... lovely vid and good job with the mandolin!

Hi mandolin 1944
yep your absolutely correct go to the top of the class. I'd learnt Fisher's first then tried this one - got the two mixed up.
Is ther any clue as to the age of the Mando you play in the 1944 name

Is this really something a normal person can learn to do? I'm wanting to start learning the Mandolin this summer. Think 30's to old?

Hi Lacie
I started playing when I was 64 so no 30 is not too old. Go for it you'll love it
