  • Hello Mick, you play this better than you played the bass back in the Sixties, I only counted 8 wrong notes. By the way, I found an old shirt of yours in the back of my car, I'll give it back to you next time I see you, regards to Di', Ron.

  • hi grandpa :D

  • You said your copy of a f5 morgan monroe lacks tone, and your f2 has better sound. You think that just, because it doesn't say Gibson. I hate to tell you. Your Gibson doesn't have any more sound. The Morgan Monroe sounds better. In your other videos. I've heard alot of Gibson that only sound ok.

  • nice work! I think the couple of mistakes make great variations. Have you ever been to didmarton bluegrass festival?

  • Mick, I can't tell you how many times I've watched this video. I love it. I bought my first instrument ever, a mandolin, in April 2010, and started taking lessons soon after. I'm a bit old to start this, but what the heck, I'm having fun... Someday maybe I can play this. Thanks for sharing this, and your other videos!

  • Hi Mick. I enjoyed watching you have fun with your mando. I love that tune and the tone of your Morgan Monroe was actually quite nice even coming across lousy computer speakers. I've got quite a few videos up....a couple showcasing an Eastwood electric mandocaster that you might find interesting. Cheers from Sunny California. -Brian

  • Hey Mick nice picking great tune -- did you realize you intro'd it as Fisher's hornpipe? Fisher's is a lot easier song to play -- Sailor's is a workout and you do a nice job!

  • Hi mandolin 1944

yep your absolutely correct go to the top of the class. I'd learnt Fisher's first then tried this one - got the two mixed up.

Is ther any clue as to the age of the Mando you play in the 1944 name

    regards

    mick

  • Is this really something a normal person can learn to do? I'm wanting to start learning the Mandolin this summer. Think 30's to old?

  • Hi Lacie
