she makes a fair point. even more stuoid is to have 300hp on the front axle.. only ford is stupid enough to do that, other btrands have enough brains to distribute that kind of power to the rear axle or both axles.
Ford needs to learn their lesson and they need to learn it fast.
@WEAJHD - for this one review i can show you two or three dozen that love the car... it is consistently ranked ahead of Euro & Japanese rivals in the same "performance" type bracket.
Wheels Mag - "The Focus RS torque-steers, but overall experience is well judged for road driving; it is exhilarating, confidence-inspiring and fun without ever becoming intimidating. And that firm urban ride translates into body control that is absolutely first-rate when the roads get really rough at speed."
@broadywolf this is the words from a professional racing driver though, and i'd listen more to her than what some clueless reviewers have to say. The focyus RS Overheats after only 1-2 laps? that made me laugh
@WEAJHD - you laughed, but yet know nothing of the circumstances of the "test". you don't see her comments on the megane or impreza either. it looks hot. turbo charged cars do not like heat. several reviews pitting the megane 250, impreza sti and focus RS (readily available on the web) rank the RS ahead of the other two as a driving experience. you make your original comment without ever having driven one.
@WEAJHD no doubt she is good, but driving a bmw-ring taxi that might be even endorsed, she might not be objective. Watch Horst von Saurmas review. He also says that the suspension might frighten beginners in extreme situations, but it is exactly what a pro driver wants. Then he recommends shifting at max 6000 rpm. Again: She is a good driver but her review disappoints me. And remember: She overestimated herself on the transit ;)
@WEAJHD - maybe you can point out to the "professional driver" that RS actually stands for Rally Sport, the arm of Ford that produced the car and NOT "Race Spec" as she seems to think... and whilst your at it, maybe point out the Focus RS is a road car (daily driver) and not set up for racing like the Megane Cup... she should stick to driving tourists around in the Ring Taxi...
@WEAJHD putting lots of torque to the front is safer than putting it to the rear. Best way for lots of power is 4wd. If you put it to the rear, car will turn around, at the front there is less potential for starting but it is more stable. Anyway: the power axle, if there is only one, should always be under the engine, if it is a front engine, it should be fwd. Especially in winter and uphill.
