well this channel was shut down soon after its start because of some conflicts on what should the news contain. then the journalists moved away and created Al-Jazeera. now BBC wanted again the BBC Arabic channel so they relaunched it on a format similar to that of Al-Jazeera.

yes, as dimitriupetru says, the Saudi sponsor disagreed to some of the channel's editorial policy. So, many staffs at the channel moved to other newer Arabic channels such as al-Jazeera.
