Here in New Zealand most people pronounce Huka Falls as 'Hooker falls'. The Maori vowels have a different sound to those of English words. They have a short and a long version - a as in about far - e as in enter bed - i as in eat sheep - o as in awful pork - u as in put boot. Ooo I went to Huka Falls! I found it a tad underwhelming because I prefer really tall waterfalls (if that makes sense)! I did the Jet Boat Ride thing too, it was insane. XD I was certain the boat was gonna collide with the shrubbery and whatnot...our captain's name was Brett if I remember correctly. I wish I could relive that, without spending thousands to get back there. XD
