instead of blowing 2to 3 thousand bucks for a digital processor that will lose value over time instead buy that Tom Anderson , Its value will only climb.
Still the best demo of the Axe II there is after what (?) 6/7 months. Why doesn't fractal produce decent videos of their own like STRYMON pedals? They too use Sharcdiscs, by the way.
All these tones are really nice, especially when you consider the crapiness of YouTube sound. Great playing, makes a guy want to get the charge card out and buy one!
@psychostew911 I'll give you three. The first (@ 1:22) is the I chord. Tab: 0 7 6 4 5 x (or 0?) Next is the V chord inverted: x x 4 4 4 x Next is the IV chord: x 0 7 6 5 0. Hope this helps.
I came here to hear the new Axe-FX and it sounds great, but that playing would sound fantastic in the cheapest of crap too. Really amazing harmonies.. I'm gonna watch it for the third time!
All the "sounds like this amp or not" arguments are pretty useless if you ask me. You put two of the same amps in the room and chances are they will sound different and there is no guarantee that either sounds great in the first place. But to compare this to an amp is like comparing a Marshall to a Fender, it's two different products.
This is a tool that allows you to create a pallet of tones with an extremely deep editing ability. It can mimic some amps and do a lot that an amp can't do.
It might not sound as god as the ones they are trying to model, but I spent all day playing amps and guitars and most of the amps these days sound like ass compared to this. I am usually a tone snob, but this sounds good enough I could care less. Tubes kind of piss me off with all the noise and randomness sometimes lol. Some stuff will always be missing in digital, but digital can be a good thing if you want clarity and consistancy.
ok, to end that story, its matter of personal taste, to my ears it doesnt sound like the original amps. I would buy it and I like it because of the movabilty and the large collections of amps and pedals it emulates nicely. end of story.
Easy! 1. They sound and feel great. Ask any of the Fractal "Artists." 2. They WEIGH a lot less and tour budgets have shrunk a lot, even for major tours. 3. No noise, failed cables, bad tubes, etc. 4. Sonic quality is overrated. If you want to speak through the music, instead of impress yourself and your friends, it really just doesn't matter as much as your typical tone snob would have you believe. That's true in the in-ears, in the front row, on the radio, and in the comfort of your home.
@ajvanderschaft: Listen a two rock or a Marshall Super 100JH or a divided by 13 or a swamp and tell me then.. plus, y cant understand the sonic differences i am talking about through the youtube. no offence also. just a statement. I also said that its a step forward for digital effects. and.... why all these digital machines are trying to catch tube amps in sonic quality?
@Iliaspap80 These units are trying to match the sonic quality of tube amps because that is the benchmark at this point. And a tubes behavior could be modeled digitally with 100% accuracy, but it's just a matter of time before the processing power is available. And theres also the matter of how close it actually needs to be before the human ear can't tell the difference. Maybe this unit is already there, maybe not.
@MemorexMe Correct you would need a perfect studio recording to be able to tell the difference. Without it the crappy youtube stuff isn't really helping a whole lot.
@MemorexMe in person, you can tell the dfference between tube and axefx but on a recording (especially with drums/bass/etc) it's impossible. This thing is THE tool to own in a studio.
Very nice tone but in my honest opinion nothing is compared sonicaly to a real good tube amp! But.. its a step forward for digital effects. If you buy it and use all or the most of its amps and effects it worth the bucks, if you buy it to stay to one or two favorite sounds then go and buy the real amps.
those cleans are amazing. distortion tones sound better for sure. id buy it for the effects and cleans, still not convinced on the distortion tones though.
Steal ALL his licks!

Although there is no doubt the Axe 2 sounds amazing, Mike could play through a solid state Crate with a paper speaker and it would sound amazing.
