i had this problem once because i was using bad quality coax cables and too many splitters. Once a technician came too balance the signal, it all came back to normal.
scientific atlanta suck, you should get a motorola box =P
plus they are much easier to troubleshoot =P i work at cust service,when i get a cust who has a sa i knwo that 9/10 i won't be able to fix it, with the motorola boxes i just sent a couple of signals and problem solved XD
@retro80stv I have seen this with live TV as well as recorded shows. It does seem to be a problem with the hard drive. Either way, it is all bad service from Time Warner.
I have one if these coming Monday morning, so I'm checking out any info I can find.
As a previous TiVo owner, I can tell you that hard drive issues cause distortions like this. It didn't happen often with my refurb unit, but it did happen. Hope your luck improves, and that I don't get a lemon.
Siganl Issue! ..... easily fixed by a TWC technician.

i just got a samsung 320 GB yesterday and the memory is already %95 Full..,
they need to have a least 1TB boxes for me to be somewhat satisfied

Try getting a tech to come out.
It's not the box - it's the signal to the box coming from TW.
