I love how skanky it starts. If weeks-old filthy ball sweat had a sound, it would be the opening riff to this awesome song. The drums sound like the partly crippled gate of a grossly overweight late-night sneaky uncle. Awesome!
Just had an epipheny....I had long heard the name of this band but never got around to checking out their stuff until now. This is absolutely awesome - an inventive and timeless masterpiece that has echoes of Television, Beefheart and Syd Barrett, but nevertheless has a distinctiveness all of its own. This album was arguably the first of the new wave of '80s pychedelia in the mould of Dream Syndicate and clearly influenced a succession of musicians from that era.
@hairymarx good call my man! i saw them live in San Francisco around 2000 and your spot on with the Syd Barrett thing they played "astornimy dominie" !
@escadrielle I just checked out an awesome live version of I wanna destroy you live from Baltimore in 2001..must of been the same tour. This band are some of the greatest musicians Ive ever heard..

i dont see much jimi in here but what ever... in my opinion its the worst song i have ever heard, lyric wise, doesnt sound like much was put in to it. but to every man his own, im glad its posted so i could hear it.
This record in particular really moves me. Especially "I Wanna Destroy You", "Positive Vibrations", "Tonight", "You'll Have To Go Sideways", "The Queen Of Eyes", and "Underwater Moonlight".
Come to think of it, I'd might as well just say the entire album, considering that I just listed more than half of the songs.
Oh, Robyn. Do you have any idea how incredible you are?

The rhythm section is total Beefheart, the guitar is like Hendrix mixed with the Voidoids. What a cool tune :)

More Captain Beefheart than Jimi Hendrix, but a great song all the same!

Just genius, isn't it?
Robyn, Kimberly, Matthew, Morris....absolute brilliance.

And a bit Beefheart.
A lot Beefheart, really.
Feel that sweet Vliet-beat.
Amazing song, ultra-unbelievable record.

It's alright, though.
This minority is the minority to be. It's where it's at.
Whatever that means.
All I can do is spread the word. Or music, rather.
