I was wondering the entire fight scene when snake had the chance why didn't he shoot Vamp in the head to give Raiden an extra edge in fighting.

Plus Raiden's Sword glows red hot because it is a high frequency sword from MGS 2 when he gets it. Which doesn't explain much other than it moves very very fast creating heat
