genius and brilliant- words nowadays so often used for people who don't deserve it at all- Tim Hardin deserves these qualifications for 100 % and more! He is the best singer & songwriter I know.
Tim left us so much to listen to. I was fortunate to have met him once a long tiime ago in Putney Vt after a concert he gave at Windham college .in 1968. He left me aerason to believe
@neilieB Was that the concert with Odetta? Tim was in rare form that nite. I met him a couple of years earlier in Lyndeboro, NH. He introduced me to Johnny Cash at that time. Tim and I stayed friends and had a few good drunks together. Last spent time with him in Brookline, Ma. where he promised to publish my book, took my script, headed to Ca. and died shortly thereafter. I do miss him. Crazy son of a bitch with a lot of pain in his head and in his heart
Listening to this wonderful cut by Tim. Can't say if this Reason to Believe or It'll Never Happen Again would be my favs. Each song he did had a quavering feeling that brought you into his web. Sorry he had to go!! Love his rockers also! Got to see him at Downstairs at the Upstairs Club in NYC 1972-73 and I was happy to have seen him live.
From such greats as Misty Roses,It,ll never happen again to the rockin Smugglin Man as well as this one tim hardin remains one of the best or as Billy Joel said Only the Good Die young R .I.P. Tim Hardin
This song is one of the absolute best of all music that I have heard. Listen to the lyrics and the complex vocals and chords. He was a genius and this is my favorite song of his.
Beautiful singer.

back in the days we lived on Franklin Street in Cambridge, 1962-63 :)

He was trained as a classical musician. He committed suicide at I think a young age. I always found his music very beautiful and haunting,

at his best, no one could touch tim for his breadth of talent. unique vocal phrasing, so much more than your garden variety singer-songwriter.
