  • Is this documentary available on DVD? I caught the last half hour of it on IFC once and would love to watch the whole thing.

  • Please post some type of track list for your film. The music selection was nice but I need titles and artists, please!

  • would love a track list to this documentary...great music

  • Horrible documentary, one fat pig and three guys. One of whom has a broken leg, probably got it for being annoying and neurotic, though all four of these idiots are. Only good parts are the interviews with the actors and that's about 10 minutes of the one and a half hour documentary. 1 out of 5 stars.

  • whats that movie at 0:53 where they guy throws his fist in the air

  • @stephen123334 The Breakfast Club...that's one of the most memorable John Hughes scenes!

  • "breakfast club"

    @stephen123334

  • I just got thru watching it and it was pretty lame. I loved the interviews with the people relevant to Johns life, but the Producers and Director of the film made the Documentary about themselves. It felt like they jammed themselves into the movie out of Ego. Every time someone who had something to do with Johns life or a Director that was influenced by him spoke, the Filmmakers had to be emo and Yak about their feelings. sorry, no one cares about you. If you can sit thru them, watch it.

  • cual es el nobre de la cancion del trailer

  • He did not dissapear, man, he became writer and producer for hollywood movies... this is a real joke !!!

  • I saw this documentary and I was really mad that he denied them. All they wanted was an interview, and they had waited two years just to get denied.

  • when does this come out? i love john hughes. after seeing ferris bueller millions of times and even creating my own tribute to mr. hughes by re-creating the opening scene of ferris bueller -- i am still inspired by his movies. especially bueller. no bad language, no sex, no drinking, no drugs. just an incredibly well made brilliant and timeless movie.

hollywood lost the best thing it had. no one could make a movie for teen audiences the way hughes could.

  • In the end of this documentary, they try to interview John Hughes, and he denies them.

    Kind of a douchey move

  • i knowi watched this whole doc for a stupid ending..them gettin denied

  • i see you guys were in "shermerville" (northbrook) my hometown. did you go to glenbrook north to see where his movies were filmed? we asked john every year to come speak at our graduation awards ceremony...he always said no. his friend came to speak during one ceremony, told a story about john and their friend a.c. bueller planting a tree in the middle of the high school football field before the homecoming game.

  • I am very anxious to see this. on a side note, I felt John's best work was PTand Autos.

The way him and his editor worked out the corny music with the action was brilliant. Even right down to the airport sequences. I was so tired one night, just about to go into a well deserved sleep and that film popped in my head and I became very sad that not only is John C gone, but now John H.

  • I think the documentarians should have kept behind the camera and more interviews with the actors that were close to John,. I fast forwarded thru their dialoge

  • where can i find the documentary?? i really wanna watch it... can't find it anywhere! ive tried

  • @cookiemonstahead it premiered on a number of cable channels on xmas day, so check your cable listings for rebroadcasts.

Should be available for rental and netflix in the near future.

  • wow.......you're an idiot. John Hughes was one of the greatest end of story.

  • Very sad that he died. Very tragic.

  • John Hughes, LEGEND.

  • Looks cool, but the background music is WAY too loud. Couldn't hear what a couple actors said.

  • Did you guys actually manage to interview John Hughes? And when is the movie coming out?

  • Roger Ebert had a great part. Love him. Will see this.

  • I Love the character Cameron in Ferris Bueller's Day Off !!! :)

  • I give these guys who made the docu a lot of credit and more power to them for getting the deal picked up. Of course, they love the man. John Hughes! They went on TV because they were invited. They were nervous. Their docu will rock. It's a good thing. I just wanna know if JH was overweight or not, and by how much, when he kicked the bucket. Isn't there a new movie the Bucket List, btw? I hope John checked off all of his before he kicked the bucket...

  • Not out of disrespect to Mr Hughes, but does anyone know if he was in fact overweight, very overweight, and that his doctor did not have control over the situation at all? The last foto i have is from IMDB data base in 2001 when he was, shall we say, getting fatter.

  • a new comment on my blog post "Ben Stein ("Ferris Bueller's Day Off") explains how John Hughes died, from overweight issues: "apparently he had gotten as big as john candy in his later years. he simply stopped doing movies (since i'm sure he was loaded...he wrote/directed/produced all his movies) and became a recluse sort of and i think got huge. and at his age, if you're out of shape, you're going to have problems. "

  • What did Judd Nelson say? Can't hear.

  • BTW, are you guys going to add on to the film post-mortem? It turned out Hughes left Hollywood because Paramount became difficult to work with and "they killed John Candy".

  • How good looking is Mia Sara? DAMN.

  • Wyatt from Weird Science looks, well, weird today...he has the same hairstyle he did back then, but now he's fat and old.

  • @grenadianmed -yeah, hey...actually ilan mitchell dosen't look "weird". but nice play on words you toddler. Maybe, if you make it to 30 years, and someone dosen't put you outta your misery, you will understand he actually looks very much THE SAME as he did, which is what is actually weird.

fat and old? i promise you a reflection on your 30th, kid.

  • Wow, psycho much. Someone killing me, huh? Take your meds, nutjob.

  • @grenadianmed -lol...yeah I got a little emotional...I just get rubbed the wrong way when I see an inconsiderate remark like yours and I imagined you weren't gonna get far with a shit attitude like that. My bad

  • I agree w/ rockgolf1--i loved John Hughes's films--i too, am a Christian---but i love people--Christ told us to love--not judge and condemn. Wanda--you would do well to read the first 3 chapters of 1 John---and lighten up!! Don't drive your son away by being so narrow-minded and hateful!

  • In what sick, twisted mindset is wishing someone a slow horrible death a "decent value"? You disgusting hypocrite.

I hope your son becomes a gay porn star. You've probably improved those odds with your form of child-rearing.

  • I'm sure he'll be there waiting for you.

  • bahahahahahahahahahaahahahah. you fail at life.

  • Eat shit, wanda. You have no concept of true, decent values or patriotism. If there is a heaven I doubt you'll get there by wishing great artists "slow, horrible deaths", dummy. It's scum like you that should be kicked out of the U.S. And you should have a forced hysterectomy before you have the opportunity to screw up any more kids.

  • the music is too loud I cant hear what they say

  • Can't wait for your film! Thanks for putting it out there!

  • Matt et al, don't listen to Tflinnful and the other critics. The CNN interview was fine, your tone was respectful, and you expressed yourselves well. You guys are no ambulance chasers, that much is apparent from the talk, and the blog. Looking forward to the film, thanks for making it and best of luck.

  • Matt,

While I understand your point that this movie celebrates his life, I thought your CNN interview was fairly repulsive. You two were almost giddy at the "good fortune" of his death. Seriously, did you watch yourselves?

  • We appreciate all comments about how we appeared on CNN.For the record, BEFORE the CNN interview we made a point to reflect how devastated we truly are at this loss. This man was was our muse. We dedicated our lives at the expense of our relationships and bank accounts to make this film. This is not luck. This is a tragic twist of fate. The fact is,we made a tribute that you usually don't get while you're alive, WHILE he was alive. We were in shock, nervous and followed the tone that the anchor set.

  • We are sorry.

  • FWIW, I saw nothing even remotely "repulsive" in the interview. It was nice & you guys clearly had a lot of love & respect for him. I'm looking forward to seeing the film. I wasn't even aware that it existed until a week ago when I picked up the new issue of Geek. I read it Monday, excitedly told my friends about the film & blog the next day & 2 days later heard about his death. The news that yet another part of my childhood had died was devestating, but I'm happy his films will live forever.

  • I would love to see this movie in Italy some day...

  • siiiiiiiiiiiiiii Matt Autin i love you

  • I am so looking forward to this movie.

  • Great project! But audio in the trailer is all over the place, too hot, too low, mixed way under the music in one place. I know you had to rush the trailer and you're under the gun but bring in an audio person to fix. Your excellent project deserves it. Good luck and congrats on your deal!

  • Thanks Jim. The audio was mixed in HD. If you watch in HD, I believe it's better. If reupload it will erase this entry. But all will be top of the line when the official trailer is released. Thanks for your support

  • John Hughes wasnt a recluse. He just wasnt in Hollywood. People in Hollywood think that if your not there, then you are not anywhere and it is just arrogance.

I was reading Ebert's column in the Sun times and he said that a friend of his ran into Hughes and kidded him about disappearing from Hollywood and Hughes said.

"I havent disappeared, Im standing right here, Im just not in LA."

  • Exploit his death? We made this film BEFORE he died. The fact is, for whatever reason he both turned his back on Hollywood as the industry turn their back on him. This is TRAGIC. We (the filmmakers) spent almost 4 years of our lives, our money to make this film. We made this film about his LIFE. Not his death. In death, this honors John Hughes and the films he left as his mark.

  • It's about time, guys! Now when the hell is this coming out??!

  • Judd says "Have you reached Hughes"...They're like "Nooooo"

  • who's the hot producer chick?

  • I can't understand what question Judd Nelson asks MTV. It sounds like "you *something* Hughes".

  • I think he said, "Well, did you reach Hughes?" and they're like "No."

  • whatever Judd showed up to the awards and started acting like a drunk moron. He's trying to make it sound like he was so noble to not go onstage with the cast because of John Hughes's absence. He knew Hughes wasn't coming and showed up.

  • R.I.P

  • "Forgettable movies"!? "Dumb" is subjective, along with acting/writing. But forgettable!?! There is a whole generation of people who will never forget the impact his movies made on them.

Most directors go a lifetime without ever making a mark like one (let alone many) of his films did.

  • Here, take this quarter and go downtown and pay a rat to gnaw off those blinders from your eyes.

  • R.I.P. John Hughes growing up would have been a real nightmare if i didn't have your wonderful movies and your character to keep me compan

  • Definitely looking forward to seeing this.

  • RIP John Hughes!

  • I can't wait to see this.

  • When will this be out?

  • Can't wait to see this. Thanks for coming up with this. :D

  • where can i get this film?
