  • Ricky and Steve's laughter is so infectious during the horse in his local part.

  • I blame Karl for the messed up dreams I've been having lately... Haha

  • *mum

  • I love how this show is basically just Steve ripping on Karl and Ricky laughing his ass off. (Ricky definitely gets the best deal there.)

  • I always think that Suzanne has to be at least a little bit like Karl. I don't see how anyone else could put up with him for almost a decade.

  • "ROFL oh it's the theories!" well said Ricky...well said

  • i'm pretty sure karl says mum not mom

  • @xl2eVoLuTioNz he does coz hes british, british people say mum.

  • @xl2eVoLuTioNz no he says mam because he's from the north :P

  • @stephenzevon nah he says mum because he's from manchester. Manc's arent quite in the northern farmer territory ;)

  • @xl2eVoLuTioNz youtubedotcom/watch?v=hQ1kr8oE7EU

    around 6:20 ;P

  • @stephenzevon it didnt load lol, what's the title of the video? also im from manchester and don't know anyone who says it, but even different parts of manc have differing accents ie stronger or more pronounced manc accents, i suppose like the difference between east london and west london etc

  • @xl2eVoLuTioNz watch?v=hQ1kr8oE7EU Karl vs steve part 1

well, i take your point...i didn't really pay attention to the mom mam mum discussion but whoever started it should be happy that a (probable) American is spreading the word of Mr. K Dilkington :)

  • Americans speak lazy english...

  • The story of the English language is the story of an unstoppable train of consecutive changes and for someone to put their hand up and say "wait! the train stops here and should go no further" is not only futile, but ludicrously arbitrary. I'm an American and language is one of my many passions. Anyone, complaining about Americanisms should understand this:

    Hwæt! Wé Gárdena in géardagum

    þéodcyninga þrym gefrúnon

    hú ðá æþelingas ellen fremedon.

    -English c. 700 CE

  • The idea that there once existed a "pure" form of English is simply untrue. The English spoken in the UK today has been influenced by a number of languages, including Dutch, French and German. Speakers from the time of William the Conqueror would not recognize what what is spoken in Britain as English. This is because language variation shifts are constantly changing. It's no surprise to find London teenagers increasingly speaking what's been termed "multicultural ethnic English".

  • i believe its MUM...

  • I'm awfully upset that I'm not friends with Karl :(

  • Karl at the end...It scares her.

  • great, now i have to go back and find @MrDanman84's comment.

  • now i dont know if i have worked it out correctly (i proably havent) but if mars has a longer day they would be at least 1000 years more advanced than us

  • @TheOrangeType When Ricky and Steve say "think about it", they're talking about how the nights on Mars will be longer as well, equalising the time spent awake/asleep on both planets

  • @ChannelSarahB well no not really because if its split between day and night shouldnt it still be about 15 minutes longer still making them 500 years more advanced?

  • @TheOrangeType No, it would be the same, if you assume that they sleep for the same amount of Mars hours as Earth hours.

  • The extra time : . more advanced makes sense. (if they were identical to us, and experienced same historical things to us). But obviously, There would be no martins any where near our solar system.

  • @AaaaghJOE Martians come from Mars, that is why they are named so. If they weren't from Mars, they wouldn't be Martians, retard.

  • Karl would never say MOM, neither would any Englishmen. We say MUM.

  • @hayzejk Some people in the Midlands say 'Mom', I'm from the north and we say 'Mam' and then there also is alot of people who say 'Mum'.

  • @ClaireysWorld Almost 30 years in this country and I have not heard one person say Mom, I'll give ya Mam though, forgot about that one!

  • @hayzejk Completely untrue! In the Midlands we say mom. I always thought it was weird to hear mum and mam (Byker Grove..) on the TV growing up.

  • Nothing like a bit of Karl Pilkington before you go to to bed so you fall asleep smiling...

    Karl gives me lovely dreams...

  • @Ellis01234567890 I do the very same

  • @Ellis01234567890 I thought i was the only one lol I listen to the podcasts in bed too :D

  • 'It doesn't scare her- it BORES her'

    LMAO

  • I literally burst laughing XDDD

  • cant believe only just got this tv show in new zealand! fml we're slow lol.. can you buy the series on dvd or just download?

  • @LaurenNZ81 Both series are out on DVD. You can also download the original podcasts as well.

  • Steve should narrate the auidobooks of Karl's books.

  • karl is soo right

  • its mam

  • fuck how many seasons has ther been i bought season 1 from a futureshop by my house but they had anymore seasons in stock? did they stop shipping them to north america or somthing?

  • Karl's wife must love his randomness XD

  • Karl might be right at the end, apparently more people do die due to stress diseases :D

  • @woolley6953 True, true!

  • Why is this person apparently required have to use "mum" in the title of their video? This show isn't a UK show. It was produced in the States for HBO, so obviously a great lot of Americans have seen it who are just used to saying "mom." That aside, Karl says "mam" (if you've read his books, it's always spelled "mam") so why must it be "mum" again exactly..? Stephen even very obviously pronounces it "mam" while reading... What a pretentious load of shit.

  • @thewickedfae why do you give a damn, i know its an american show, but it isnt shown in only america, its shown all over the world, the north america is the only continent that says mom, but americans think there better than everyone, so everyone has to keep up with there candy, and soccer.

  • @MrDanman84 Would you criticize someone from another country using their term for mother instead of the American term if they posted a video everyone apparently assumed was from the US? No. Same thing. Most of the comments on here are ppl going "Uhh. Don't you mean mum?" I'm just pointing out the fact that, first of all, there's no reason to use "mum" when the video is based around someone who says "mam" and, second, why can't the person use the term mom? Makes as much sense as mum in this case.

  • @MrDanman84 I understand it's not only shown in America, btw, my point in bringing that up was that it's not like some horrid American is doing what they do best apparently and screwing things up by using their own term on another country's show. Not all Americans are raging assholes. I don't assume things about the people of other countries. Please don't assume things about me.

  • @MrDanman84 Their.

  • what kind of british person would spell it "MOM" ?!!?! TRAITOR!!!

  • MAM (according to steve)

  • What we want to hear even

  • I don't think it matters either way we hear what we want to her mam and mum said in northern accents sounds near enougth the same anyway xD

  • Some say mum and some say mam, just depends! I'm from the North too :) & Believe it or not I've heard some people calling their mum "mom" and it makes me want to shoot myself.

  • I'm also from the north mams a formal term you hear that slogan in prisons haha I'm from literally 10 miles away from where Karl was born never in my life have I met a northener that says mam

  • @Meep151 Everyone I know says Mam. How odd...

  • @Meep151 I'm from the North East and I say mam (Then again, my house always has Sunday dinner at 1 whereas most people in the region have it in the late afternoon).

  • Northerners say mam.

  • @madwalrus No they dont.

  • @Meep151 Im from the north and I say Mam and everyone else I know does :-S

  • @madwalrus no, the Welsh say "mam". "Northerners" say "mowwwwm"

  • 1:38 Susanne really means, "I'm too tired to listen to your bullshit, Karl."

  • Karl actually says Mam not mum.

  • @andagainification He even has Steve saying 'mam' it rubs off!

  • in the english language there are multiple ways of saying mother such as

ma mam mama mum mom mummy etc.

  • @lanchedgehog That's incorrect. The stupid Yanks misspell "honour", "colour" and things like "defence". Now, their argument is sometimes, for not using the 'U' in some words, is it's not needed as it does not sound how it's spelt. My case is always, what about fucking Wednesday? Fucking retards, the vast majority are anyway.

  • @iago18958 You Brtits have to stop puting extra u's in everything. You'll use them all up, and then we won't have any left. Speak English not English.

  • @iago18958 "The stupid Yanks misspell "honour", "colour" and things like "defence"."

There are dozens of examples. It's a great country, and there are so many great people in it, but it was so successful that even their absolute morons survived, and thrived. That's why you see all these things. The morons outbreeding the kinds of people that made the country great in the first place.

Now it's just a laughing stock. Some of the shit they come up with ... my goodness.

  • jesus, about 30 comments on spelling, what's the world coming to

  • Mom and Mum are both wrong! He's from the north so therefore......MAM!

  • @SirPimpafizzle Er, I'm from the north and I use mum.

  • "It scares her. No it doesnt scare her it bores her,"

  • MILF

  • @hayleymarrie13 Did you seriously write that the letter 'u' doesn't exist in USA? Your theories are worse than Karl's.

  • The horse story is true..It was a police horse with a cop on it in Massachusetts who used to walk right through the bar and people would give it fruit and pet it...it became a liability so the owners asked the cop to stop.

  • Xenophobia always makes me laugh. "My country's better than yours!" LOL what morons.

  • People just remember to spell intialise, improvise and realise properly. They come from French and should be spelt accordingly: réaliser

  • Some astronaughts actually did come out saying that they saw craft on the moon.

  • when I here someone say or type mum I think of some little douchebag kid on a video game

  • @MrMarkhardwick Sorry *Ineducable

  • lol it doesnt scare her it bores her XD

  • The O in MOM is there for a reason! Research it. Ive heard of Mother; Have you heard of Muther?

  • @HayleyMarrie13 well, Mum is british and correct way to say it you ignorant yank!

  • @animelover5076 LMFAO, who's ignorant? Please explain to me how that works seeing as I am not only Born but also Bred English! I have never stepped foot on any over sea's land including obviously that of American land, therefore, in my opinion is is IMPOSSIBLE for me to be an 'ignorant Yank!' I am fully aware that Americans say 'Mom' because the letter 'U' doesn't exist there. Mom (pronounced Mom) - is what is said in North America.

  • @animelover5076 and Mum (pronounced Mum) - is what is said in the rest of the English speaking world.

    (Britain, Australia, New Zealand.)

I judge you not, but before you try to disrespect any country, culture or call any individual, my to you advise is ~ Make sure, you cover your words with at least some degree of wisdom; This way we play into nobodys hands. Nor do we allow us English to be portrayed like Our steroetypical- Mis informed, Unresearched, Ineducated imbecilic & Racist Brutes.

  • @animelover5076 It's the correct way to say it in YOUR country, but in America you wouldn't say Mum. People would look at you like you were mentally retarded.

  • @WiiFolderJosh But we're pronounving it correctly because we invented the fucking language.

  • @StrongIntelligent And we improved it. You're welcome. :)

  • @WiiFolderJosh You did a pretty poor job of improving it if you're starting your sentences with "and".

  • @StrongIntelligent Ooooh! Nice response! :)

  • @WiiFolderJosh omg its josh!!!!!!! i love your vids =D

  • @HayleyMarrie13 You could argue that the "u" comes more from the sound of "mother" rather than the spelling. Saying "mom" is more of a deviation from the original word than "mum" is.

  • @HayleyMarrie13 In England ENGLISH is spelt with a u in mum so that is the correct spelling.

  • since this it british, and karl is from the north, the people who pronounce there "U"'s properly, it should really be mum, damn yanks, and there,, misspelling!

  • @MrDanman84 Good job trying to insult someone. However, Karl pronounces it 'mam'.

  • @MrHealthychocolate Well said ;)

  • @MrHealthychocolate And learn the difference between "there" and "their" before insulting someone's "misspelling".

  • @sophieewohaa I like you! Well said :)

  • @MrDanman84 Well by that same logic I could say that it's not British and was produced by HBO for an American audience, therefor the uploader using the spelling MOM makes sense. :)

  • @MrDanman84 Thats the problem with this whole show. It always has an American spin on it, all the little stereotypes, scenarios etc are all drawn by American standards. I don't know why they didn't get a British company to do the animation. Well i do. More money. :P

  • Comment removed

  • @MrDanman84 *their misspellings.

  • @BigJamook Haha, beat me to it.

  • @MrDanman84 : Are you being ironic? Because it wasn't funny.

  • @MrDanman84 It's not misspelling, in the states they say "mom", here we say "mum". It's like the "colour" vs "color" thing.

  • @MrDanman84

    'Their' misspelling not 'There'.

  • Comment removed

  • @MrDanman84 *Their misspelling :P I agree though, don't worry I'm not an American. I'm aussie

  • I like the fact that the two top comments are both wrong and it should actually be "They're".

  • @fatboybozo Actually he's missspelled They're and their.

  • @imagination43 Then I take that back.

  • @MrDanman84 ...says the person with the grammatical misuse of a 12 year old.

  • @MrDanman84 Clearly a troll.

  • @MrDanman84 *their

  • @MrDanman84 actually since this is karl it should be M.A.M

  • @MrDanman84

    Their

  • @MrDanman84 They're misspelling.

  • @MrDanman84 With all due respect, stop getting on at Yanks for the way they use English if you're shit at it too.

  • MUM.

  • @jonny616 Haha that's the comment I was going to leave when I read the title. Beat me to it.

But incidentally this is the only time i can remember Steve laughing too much to read Karl's diary. Funny when you hear things that just don't seem right like Karl laughing or Ricky accepting that he's wrong lol.

  • @jonny616 It's MAM actually.
