It makes me soo mad that people do stuff like that and get away with it. They out to be made an example of. Like that JERK Michael Vick, he should have gotten a longer sentence and been made an example of the fact that dog fighting WILL NOT BE TOLERATED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i was like 2 or something when i saw the movie for the first time. I can remember jumping around in my weekend bed to it. Its funny that my parents bought this amazing movie with no idea that it would become such a big part of my childhood. It was my favorite movie and kinda still is? Í still cry at the same places as always. it is one of those everlasting movies!
Hey Zissi88 Nothing can replace keiko and never will replace him, He was such a great whale, and I know that from first hand exprience. I Love and miss you big guy. R.I.P. Keiko
This movie symbolizes my childhood. :) It makes me sad to realize that Keiko is dead, and I won't ever see him. It was such a great animal. Created my love for orcas and sea animals. I love this movie... it makes me want to be a kid again, watching this, fantaseeing about it and still thinking anything is possible. :)
i really disliked the movie that came out, Free Willy, Escape from Priate's Cove, or what ever it was called.
the whale wasnt even him! no one from the ORIGNAL was on it! they should of had it that the grandfather was Jesse and the little girl was his granddaughter. and when they freed "willy" Grandfather "Jesse" would of seen the flopped over fin of Willy. and they would of meet again for maybe the final time...
So Keiko doesn't occur in Free Willy 2 and 3 AT ALL? But what about the part in Free Willy 2 where Jesse rides on his back? Is that Keiko, another tame whale or is that part fake too?
Many people didn't know that Keiko mated with a female he had found in the wild. After mating, the female gave birth to twins a few months later
Keiko died after beaching himself in Taknes Bay, Norway while under the care of personnel from Jean-Michel Cousteau's Ocean Futures Society on December 12, 2003, at 27 years of age. Pneumonia was later determined as his probable cause of death.
@iluvtheocean10109 WELL IF THEY DIDNT PUT HIM IN CAPTIVITY IN THE FIRST PLACE HIS FIN WOULD BE FINE THE TANK WAS JUST TOO SMALL!! I LOVE KEIKO HE WAS MY FAV NOW IM DESTROYED
@tsuyagiku it's true wild creatures should not be kept in captivity but it makes a person wonder if releasing it to the wild when it obviously wants and needs humans around. such a sad thing ;[
@Kuriix well yeah if they are raised in captivity they cant survive in the wild ... they make so many movies and documentaries but do they give any of the millions they make to save em ? i guess not
It's quite simple, people can change whatever they want.
It all comes down to money, if people decide not to visit Zoo's, then Zoo's wouldn't have any money to continue it's work...and in the end there would be no Zoo's and animals in captivity..
.the same principle can be used to change the system in wich we're living , we are the slaves, we feed the ones at the top, we can choose to stop, and then change what those at the top decided for us...
people need to wake up and just think with their own head for once!
rip keiko u were a one in a million whale...and great job of using the FW scenes with "We Are One", i cant search 4 the theme cuz im afraid of runing into...THAT SCENE in "Orca"...
The one who played Jesse (how do you spell it?) in the movie is one of the luckiest. I really envie him, he was allowed to ride Keiko. Must have been an amazing experience.
two most beautiful and insperational films for both young and old alike. Thank you Keiko for the wonderful memories. R,I.P. You were a credit to your species. You are now FREE.
I cried when I heard the news that Keiko had died. I personally want to be reincarnated as an Orca. They are my favorite sea creature. I have to be honest I don't know who Lolita is which is probably sad huh? Anyway I miss Keiko and will always cherish him in my heart. I also want to go see his marker and place something there for him.
You mixed up orca movies. This is from ORCA, not Free WIlly. But still awesome, Ive been trying to find this song forever. It was made my Ennio Morricone..
" A music video/mesh type video I decided to make after watching the movie. The ending isn't what I had planned (I had wanted to show Willy actually swimming free) but I got a little bogged down in the details, I guess. Ran out of song. XD But I like it, this was fun.
Song: "We Are One," the main title from the movie 'Orca: Killer Whale'"
What a nice video, and it suits Keiko so well. Keiko was one of a kind, and he is still in the hearts and minds of those who wanted to see him free again. :)
@lisababy85 He was released into the wild but he eventually left his pod and started hanging out at the docks in Norway.. he eventually died from pneumonia..
"Free Willy" (1993) was made for the same reason "Beethoven" (1992) was made - Hollywood was afraid that the films "Orca" (1977) and "Cujo" (1983) had done damage to the image of the animals they represented and wanted to repair those images by making "Free Willy" and "Beethoven".
You're kinder than me. I doubt Hollywood cared about any negative perception it may have caused of those animals, just about how much money they could make on an animal movie with a sweeter storyline. They certainly don't seem to care what "Jaws" did to sharks. (Of course they were already greatly feared, but still, they're just animals. That movie led a lot of people to think they're just killing machines bent on the destruction of the human race.) XD
That's a good point. Did Willie really get caught again and that's why there was a free willie two? and wasn't there a third? Talk about a money idea it couldn't be too good for the whales having to go tank than back home why not leave them in the ocean and use a prop whale. But nope you are right hollywood cares about the money.
After Free Willy 1 everyone wanted "Willy" to became free in reality. So they startet this huge thing called "Freeing Keiko".
First they had a big bassin - very huge - and made sure that Keiko recovered from the deseases he suffered from in Mexiko.
After some years they took him in a big plane to Island where they did their best to bring him back to the wild. He swam to Norway and met some other orcas. But he prefered the humans, got ill and had to be put to sleep.
@Zissi88 yeah, they just made a 4th one, they call it free willy, but it's not really a sequel; but anyway, i saw the previews for it...the fake orca they use looked really really fake, haha
@MadyWolfe Ok. I didn't think they looked fake, but I suppose that would be the idea. Just someone said they were fake from the first one onwards and I was very upset by that. Thanks for making me happy again. :)
@Emikero haha, no problem, i'm sure there were some things that they used fake whales, or animation for, but Keiko did still play Willy in the first three.
@MadyWolfe Thanks :) But someone made me sad again now :( Apparently: according to MidnightRain373, they were training Keiko to go back to the wild so he wasn't in the second and third. :( I know it is actually bad that they use the whales for the movies, but for some reason a little bit of magic has just been taken from the movies, and I haven't even seen all three. D:
OH wow!!!! That's amazing, and who says they are "dumb animals" they have minds. And fake Orcas WOW!!! The one thing I don't understand is when they were freeing "willy" than did they put a real into the Ocean or did they capture Keiko and put him back? I wish that we could free Lolita=(
Willy never got caught again. Hate to tell you (well not so much hate to) but the whales in the second and third movies were mostly robots or footage of whales...Willy (or Keiko) the actual whale ended up being transferred to a tank in Oregon with fresh ocean water where he recovered from all his diseases and learned how to behave in the wild. Very long journey short, Willy was eventually completely freed, but died of pneumonia in the wild, but he died a free whale in his natural habitat.
That's awesome!! I'm glad it wasn't real whales otherwise that would really piss me off. It's cool they could get actual footage too. I'm glad Keiko died in his natural habitat. Now, if we could just free Lolita. I leave messages on Arthur Hertz answering machine, if I had money I'd send letters. Come on guys we have to think of something. Anybody gets ideas please email me and we can start working on this. We gotta help her!
One of the best theme songs ever. Wish this had the words in it. Still great though. I love the movie ORCA. One of my fav's. Weird not seeing clips of ORCA with it's beautiful music. Free Willy, is a touching film, but it is no ORCA. ORCA is a masterpiece to me. "He loved his family, more than I loved mine." I think the line goes. The song goes quite well with the Free Willy scenes you edited together, good work. Peace, J.
