  • this movie will say with me for the rest of my life...simply amazing

  • drew is the best

  • I first saw this movie stoned. And all I could think of was Drew Barrymore's awful southern accent. Is she supposed to sound like that?

  • i saw this movie a week ago its just amazing very moving

  • wow i want to see this....like now.

  • Terrible romanticised whitewashing of two very tragic and victimised women.

  • I'm just gonna watch it for Jessica Lange.

  • what is the song at 1:10

  • i wanted to like this film on so many levels but it was very mediocre. I LOVED Grey Gardens and generally like Drew B. as a actress but I just couldn't fall in love w/ this movie. Jessica L. did a magnificent job as Big Edie esp. in her elder yrs. This is the only positive I can give for acting. The music and costumes were superb but overall not great.

  • i love you jessica

  • Where can I watch the whole movie? Help...

  • It's movies like this that should be released on Hollywood; Barrymore and Lange would have won oscars hands down for their performances in this.

  • It's very difficult to keep the line between the past and the present.

  • drew barrymore as Julianne Moore

  • Entirely true; but then, Little Edie wasn't the most practical of women either. Her father wanted her to support herself as a secretary in his law firm and there were other chance she had to get away. This is almost a horror film as well, because of the psychological manipulations.

  • Little Edie was manipulated back and her mother knew how to get her back and keep her there. At the same time, she was herself impractical and airheaded. Her own father offered her a secretarial job at his law firm that would have easily paid the bills and enabled her to live her own life as she tried to become an actress, but she wouldn't do that. Neither woman was practical at all and neither woman was willing to make adjustments to their lives to ensure that they would be able to survive.

  • I was blown away by the acting in this. Some parts are almost identical to the documentary. Oscar run is right!

  • @zubedakhanium7602 fail this is not an action movie. lol

  • This, along with the two documentaries, are three of my favorite films of all time. The Beales are some of the most fascinating women to ever walk the Earth, and I am a much better person for coming across them and being able to learn their story.

  • There is nothing like the documentary; but Drew does, I think, her best performance. I love the Beale's!

  • Could anyone please tell me what's the name of the song from 1:22 ? Thank you very much !

  • @Withergarde It's called "We Belong Together".There are versions done by many artists, but that one (sung by Jessica Lange and Malcolm Gets) can be bought on the Grey Gardens soundtrack.

  • here because of 30 Rock

  • This should not have been a made for TV movie! It should have been an Oscar winning film!

I'm a million miles away from liking Drew BUT in this movie it blows my mind how she really captured Little Edie, even down to her accent and timing.

  • ugghh *sigh* if only it was theatrically released it had a chance in the oscar run *sigh*

  • @MsPeace2love I agree!

  • I've enyojed it on kookíca and if your looking for a good movie with likeable charecters that has some fun and romance mixed in see it Very exciting movie that I enyojed Well acted... I loved it...

  • This movie that I saw on kookíca was so good I don't even know where to begin. I can't think of another film in recent years that's left me so wholeheartedly satisfied...This film is definitely going to be in the Oscar race.

  • My opinion stays the same. Director=genius. Main actors are of course excellent actors. great preformance. some scenes are really kinda shocking... Go and see it on kookíca. Enjoy it... Really good expirience...

  • is this a tv show?

  • What's the name of the song that plays when Little Edie says "It's very difficult to keep the line between the past and the present?"

  • I think both actresses did fantastic, and were more than appropriate. In the original Grey Gardens documentary, Little Edie mentioned she'd want Ethel Barrymore (Drew's great-aunt) to portray her in a movie, even though she'd been dead by that time. Therefore I think the casting was impeccable, and that Little Edie would have been satisfied.

  • the documentary also is unbelievable, incredible. I truly am so fond of these women and their resilience to simply be honest about themselves, and the road traveled in life. they did it their way, no excuses. very strong women. it's timeless about where the relation of a mother/daughter relationship can go.

  • To sum up what I'm saying: It is an amazing movie. Director is super-intelligent and good at his job. I enjoyed it a lot on kòòkica and will see it again. I just think that when something of this calibre comes along,do yourself the favor of analyzing what you're seeing.

  • drew barrymore rules my life

  • what the hell is the point of remaking an already great film, A GENUINE ARTICLE!!! with some laughable reenactments? People dont know when to leave things alone.

  • is this based on a true story 'cause if it is then i'm gonna start crying!

  • @CrazySummerDay Hulu has the entire original documentary to watch for free till the end of Nov. of this year. Also, the second doc is on there as well: "The Beales of Grey Gardens" I loved both of them Little Edie was unique and delightful person. Wish I had been her friend.

  • Brilliant film!!!! It works, it rocks! I can't get this incredible scenes out of my mind. Everything about the whole film was well done job. I adore all production and all players. The film is just the best you need! kookicá has it!

  • jessica lange and drew barrymore really did a good job in this movie

  • so forth discussed as well as an 800 dollar funeral

  • 48 years old today

  • The team behind this film has done a very good work out. I loved the first movie they made and I just couldn't wait to see this one. I think some parts of the story did add some sort of realism to this, it is very difficult to do this, but this team did.. The best one for me. Go to kookicá for free watching.

  • Priceless documentary and a very brilliant film! I am officially a Grey Gardens groupie!

  • Poor little Edie. God bless you sweetheart, hope you're happy dancing away in heaven. (PS. Great movie, Drew Barrymore's Edie impression was uncanny)

  • Wow, Drew Barrymore's Edie impression is spot on! <3 you little Edie!

  • anyone know the name of the first piece of music played during this trailer? its rather amazing

  • JUST WONDERFUL !

  • Resist the NWO ;)

  • What is the song Big Edie plays with her accompanist? It goes "We belong together we're happy together and life is a song" it starts in the trailer at 1:35

  • @bluextangerine i have been trying to find that song for the longest time, still cant find it, i think its great and want to hear the whole song

  • @bluextangerine its called "we belong together" by malcom gets and jessica lange

  • Fantastic film. Tells the story behind the original Grey Gardens and how the 2 Edie's ended up there. The end brought tears to my eyes. If you have ever felt left behind or that your dreams have passed you by, this is your film.

  • @cannibalcarrie Douchebag

  • @CenturianRule HDU.

  • I'm not a Drew Barrymore fan. She's basically the same character (herself) in all her films and I can't stand listening to her during interviewers. But with this movie, she did a great job and was very convincing as Little Edie. Best film she's ever done, imo.

  • @ritter89 I'm not either and I'd have to disagree. I'm still not impressed with her acting in this movie. i still have to ask the question why Drew?

  • @ritter89 I agree...although I do like Drew Barrymore (even though she's pretty much just herself in her other roles), in this one, she surprised me...she was superb! :) Caught part of the movie one time (wish I'd caught the whole thing), and now I'm obsessed with the whole idea of "Grey Gardens." I'm so grateful to the people who've posted clips of it here. Thank you!

  • @ritter89 I'm with you! I finally saw this movie a few days ago and I was blown away with Drew's performance and Jessica Lange was outstanding, of course!

  • GREAT MOVIE

  • This movie is amazing :)

  • If this movie was made to be a theatrical release, Drew and Jessica would surely be nominated for an Oscar, what a waste to make it only a TV-movie

  • Edie was nuts that's why she lived with he nut mother

  • @cbrun67176 at least they were nuts that didn't want to harm anyone though.

  • @odessyrcr589 they weren't nuts, is the thing you're supposed to take away from a movie like this. Through a progression of circumstances, anyone could end up in that situation. They had great trauma.

  • little Edie hated all the bad in the World..............that's why she stayed with her Mother!

  • Amazing movie, you have to see it!

  • I absolutely love this movie! What an unusual pair!

  • I always get the chills around 1:22. Haha. Anyway - the two Edies are wonderful, beautiful, extraordinary women, and Drew and Jessica absolutely nailed it. This movie was excellent. One of the best I've ever seen.

  • I am NOT a big fan of drew, but boy did she nailed it!

  • I saw 'Grey Gardens' the documentary for the first time a couple of nights ago, but haven't seen this yet.

Even so... How freakishly accurate are Drew Barrymore and Jessica Lange in this trailer? Very eager to see the whole thing, now!

  • @dylanwildlevel it was spectacular!

  • I just watched this movie it was amazing i have also seen the origanel grey gardens. it makes me cry.

  • she looks and talks like julianne moore, it's scary!!!!! great performance though!

  • my school did a play on this

    this movie looks amazing

  • They absolutely nailed it. Me and my boyfriend just watched the original doc the other night and both gasped out loud when edie made her first appearance x

  • best/haunting ting i have seen for a while. drew barrymore and jessica lang owned it good.

  • "All I want in life, is a dance partner."

    Drew is incredible!

    :)

  • I LOVED THIS MOVIE! These two remind me of my grandmother and aunt. This was the role of Drew's lifetime.

I loved when she would say "HELLLO MOTHER DARLING!"

  • this movie is amazing!

    my favorite <33333

    i love it! =)

  • This movie is one of the best of it's nature that I've seen in a loooong time! So glad Drew got recognized for it!

  • Drew's impression of little Edie is amazing

  • i made a video for this

  • this movie was so depressingly beautiful

  • PEOPLE this movie was so good definatly a cornerstone of Drew's career. And the fabulous Jessica Lang to equalize everything! LOVE LOVE LOVE!

  • Was Edy a compulsive hoarder or did she just not like to polish and stuff?

  • absolutlely amazing film!

I love Drew in that role!

  • this was such an amazing film. drew barrymore KILLED this role. flawless.

  • this looks amazing, they both look so much like them.... drew barrymore is ace.

  • The original looks better. They even take the lines, like the cape part.

  • Um, that's because the film is based on the documentary.....

And the film was fantastic, just an FYI.

  • wow, this looks amazing. and just from this short clip, i can already tell drew deserved that award. gosh, how can i see this -- i don't have hbo.

  • i really want to watch this.

  • I liked this movie it was pretty good

  • the musical was also phenomenal! Edith Ebersole plays the daughter!

  • oops I meant Christine Ebersole... hehehe

  • such a great movie

  • This is one of the greatest movies I've ever seen. I love everything about it. It made me laugh, and it made me sad - I could watch it over and over again. In fact, I have! Lol. It is truly haunting; I get chills just thinking about it. Also, Jessica Lange has a wonderful singing voice. 10/10

  • Having also watched the original documentary showing the real characters, Drew did a brilliant job in this film.

  • The original? really? I need to find it. I loved HBO's version

  • The Broadway musical was also phenomenal! Christine Ebersole plays Little Eddie...

  • I love this film five stars...

  • What I've seen of this movie has been crazy good.

  • Jessica won the emmy for this, but I truly feel Drew (who was nominated as well) deserved it. She stole it for me, it's the best acting she's ever done and I'm a huge fan of her! I'm hoping she scoops up the SAG or Golden Globe for it.

This was a wonderful movie. Really great.

  • drew looks so weird with her old person make up... lol

    seems like a cool movie

  • Oh my good god.... I think this could be my best friend Marie & I in fifteen or twenty years... holy f*ck...

  • i fear this is how my life is gonna be. Stuck.

I can't handle this as good as edie did. :'(

  • I feel the same...you aren't the only one :(

  • Edie was actually more free than most people.

  • @phobos90tao you can if you try.your not even there yet.

  • @phobos90tao I fully understand your post. I'm beginning to feel that way myself :(

  • @phobos90tao dont think like that, do something crazy (i know it sounds like a cliche but it really helps)! Go in the subway and sing and play guitar

  • I loved this movie!!! I had seen the documentary years ago and was just waiting for a movie like this to explain the backstory of these two women and how they got to that place in their lives. Drew was dead on perfect in the role. You have got to see the documentary before you see the movie though to really understand how tragic and haunting their story was. Perfect movie!!!!

  • yea... I saw the movie which was brilliant, and was dieing to see the documentary. I finally did see it and wow. It was even more tragic in more subtler ways than the theatrical release.

  • Why didn't this make theaters? What a shame.

  • It was an HBO film, and was on TV. This movie was absolutely brilliant! BOth women, Jessica and Drew got their roles down perfect, truely amazing.

  • i cried so hard in this movie u should watch the documentary before the film

  • such a sweet movie!! :)

  • I've seen the origional documentray about three weeks ago, taking it out of the library thinking it was this one. The origional is amazing. I looked this up today because i wanted to see Drew's role in this. I was amazded. She's like dead center. It's mezmerizing.

  • Drew Barrymore was WONDERFUL in this....she completely disappeared in this role.

  • I love that movie. Wonderful performances!

  • Im shocked its getting such mixed reviews, i absolutely LOVED this movie. I think its absolutely perfect, the acting was beautiful and amazing sets and makeup. Drew Barrymore was gorgeous in this roll and i just thought it was great.

  • a very gd movie!!

  • amazing movie, amazing performances, BUT the Emmy should have been Sigourney Weaver's...you can't make a difference between Drew and jeeica in this movie..and sigourney's role was much more important

  • just watched this!!!! brillant!!!! drew and jessica are perfection!!!

  • Abolutely Magical..brovo hbo, encore encore..sniff..sniff ..tear, smile, smile:)

  • they did a really good job of making them look aged too

  • yeah i kno i was ecstatic on how good they did acting, it was what made the movie so great, but what can you say, in every hbo series or movie they make, the actors will always get nominated for emmys, because the writings so sharp and the directors are really good.
