I never knew, I wonder how that is, but when i found out it was as if she died that day, yes she did drop off the radar but she was and is one of our QUEENS, a pioneer as you say,
I am not to prod to say I cried, and I mourned. it was early this morning I found out.
Gods rest her soul. as I did for Louisa Marks my house will be filled with her love and vibe. for which I that her for and I shall celebrate her life.
For someone who only has a handfull of her songs and never seen her live i was so emotional when i heard this awefull news. What a voice and what a loss. For a fitting tribute to jean we all should start supporting what is our british ,beautifull music which is still so undervalued! god bless you jean and you family and friends.
RIP Jean so sorry to hear of her death. I grew up with her music watching my sisters getting ready for raving on friday + saturday night. Beautiful music, I hope she was not too depressed. Sympathy out to the family
When we all moved away from roots and lovers rock to a more hard and uncaring music which is todays R&B and Rap we moved away from something that was very precious. To me Jean is a great loss to us all and I will miss her dearly. I call on all black people to reject R&B and rap and let us keep in our hearts Jean's wonderful legacy of real black music. May god rest her gentle soul for the paradise her music gave me and real genuine lovers of black music.
Paradise was the first word that came to mind when I heard the news as please God that is where Jean is now, albeit all too soon. Paradise was the track I would sing along to at secondary school annd it brings back memories of first love and a wonderful era. She has (I cannot bring myself to use the past tense) such a simple, effortless way of singing that will live on...... Thank you Jean for the wonderful memories. Thinking of your family and friends at this time.
RIP Jean Adebambo you blessed us with your beautiful voice and gifted the world with your inspiring and reflective songs, so sweet so deep. Colourful words and heartfelt emotions you rewarded us with your songs, be at peace now, for your on this earth has been done. Your legacy has begun.
So so sad. What a devestating loss. I knew her professionally in her role as health visitor, and what a sweet gentle soul she was. I extend my heartfelt sympathies to her loved ones. May she rest in peace.
I was privalidge to see your last performance and so glad to see you back on the scene. You are already greatly missed girl, it was a pleasure to meet you and enjoy your music.
May your family's pain be eased by the love you gave. R.I.P my sister x
I'm so sorry sad and shock! We were chart buddies! Always looked forward to seeing Jean in the charts. She was a genius. Her voice could never be replaced. She most certainly will be missed. Nevada, from the group Arema.
I am deeply moved by the news of Queen Jean Adebambo's death. My daughters sing along to her 'tunes' and they all still hold deep memories for me. A beautiful voice and a beautiful lady, Heaven is a lucky place to have a wonderful angel in it's choir.
May you rest in peace, your music will live in our hearts forever.
I am so saddened by the death of Jean Adebambo. I was at school in the 1970's when Lovers rock was the only music we listened to during our breaks. And the track Paradise was always one of those special songs that got everybody pairing up to dance. I got an opportunity to see her sing at a concert with all the Queen and Kings of Lovers rock and it was a night of splendour and heartfelt memories. Jean Adebambo! U truly are one of the g8 Queens of Lovers Rock! u shall be missed by us all. R.I.P xx
Reaching out was the anthem of my teen years, Sang it with all my heart on too many occassions thinking that i was you. This is news is too sad. I hope you found what you were looking for Jean, you certainly enabled me to find what i was at that time. You along with others such as carol thompson, sylvia teller and sugar minott made being black in britain so much more bareable at that time. Loving ur work. Rest in peace songstress.
I am so saddened and shocked to hear the news of Jean Adebambo. Just this weekend, I was taking my children throught the journey of Jean and what her songs done for me. May her soul rest in peace. My prayers are with her family.
I was shocked and saddened to hear this news. She will be greatly missed by many. I feel like I have lost an old friend. My sympathy to her loved ones, may she rest in peace. Cath
Jean... RIP.... The world has lost a great great singer.
My brother went to school with Jean and would always talk about her and how lovely she was as a singer and person. They went to South Hackney school not far from Victoria park. In the same year was Carl Mackintosh who would go on to form the legendary Loose Ends.
I am shocked, I grow up listening to Jean, Louisa, Sandra, Carroll (whom I've had the good fortune to sing with) and Paulette. This is so sad My sympathies go out to Jean's family, colleagues and friends. Another great has passed. RIP Jean, love may your memory live on. Winston
