the allman brothers album you said" i think is there second album" it was actually their debut album :) not to be a fact nazi just sayin idlewild south twas the allmans second lp
@mikeinportsri Hi Mike! yes they are all factory sealed, they are also in Japanese resealable sleeves, which make them look that way. I have most of these in either CD or LP format , so i don't need to open them to listen. Besides, nearly every song imaginable is on YouTube!
I think its cool that people will preserve original vinyl that has never been opened. Reprints are no big deal. The thing that's weird to think about is; you will eventually pass on and leave the unsealed vinyl to someone who will pass on and leave it to someone else, etc., until either someone opens it or the human race becomes extinct. I have 5 or 6 originals that are sealed myself.
You should never keep vinyl in a shrink wrap/sealed cover. The vinyl will warp over time! It is the worse possible way to keep vinyl. I feel sorry for the person who finally opens them and finds them all warped!
Actually this is a myth that I once believed as well. I have on occasion opened sealed records after many years and they are as flat as the day they were made. They need to be stored on edge(not flat) and kept in a cool dryl place- (Tom Petty)
@sealedvinylrecords If I could add my 2 cents, I think the bigger concern with buying sealed vintage vinyl is how they were stored than the fact that they have been in shrink for 30-40 years. I've had some older sealed records sound perfect, and other stored in a moist environment with mold that makes them way worse off than most opened copies. Plus, I think the attraction of collecting sealed vinyl (if you plan on keeping it sealed) is the rarity of it, not the fidelity.
@thevinyllounge I couldn't agree more - mold is the worst ...and keeping records sealed is just like any other collectible for that matter - its interesting how some can't grasp the concept. Thanks for your input!
What a great collection! It's good to know they're in good hands. I am impressed with the Zeppelin, and Buffalo Springfield Lp's since they're far more rare in sealed condition!
And as colmschate correctly said, the DSOTM first pressing with the filled light blue triangle is the one to seek out. The later pressings also had the poster & stickers, but only had a thin blue triangle w. black in the middle, like the German pressing. For earlier PF records, the Harvest pressings without the EMI logo are the ones to seek out.
colmschate said:"for the rest a nice collection but not very rare." True, but some of them ARE becoming rare to find - especially things like Zep and Stills which are commonly available on the green/white/red Atlantic label, but the first pressings on the red/plum Atlantic are becoming harder to find in fine condition.
LOL..I agree with you. You collect for personal reason. Some collect to listen, some collect for reason above and beyond just that. I will buy most of my albums on Vinyl, CD, and Cassette when possilbe and often keep the vinyl sealed.
LOL..That "should I sell my coin collection too" ...was funny as heck. lol..That is a very good way to view it though. If you don't mind I will use that in the future lol.
the dark side of the moon is only interesting for real collectors if you have the first issue. it´s on harvest with a light blue triangle, posters and stickers and with one open end. unfortunately, i don´t that version. for the rest a nice collection but not very rare. live at fillmore east is a great album. who´s next is great, led zeppelin is too. i have the picture disc of never mind the bollocks. by the way, european records were not sealed.
I'm pretty sure that Allman Brothers album you showed first is their first album. And I totally agree with you on Live At Fillmore East. Statesboro Blues is my fav. song by them.

the point of records are to listen to them... instead of just having them sit there someone else could have one to actually listen to
