Amazing. This shows how a body made for football and football practice prepares joints and muscles to deal with a blow like this! Watching the video though, the hit on his bike was just at the right speed to allow for his body to flip in a way neither his head or back came into contact with the front of the truck, he got a lot of air time and the hardest part was his landing. His helmet split with the impact but he walked away!

I drive through that intersection daily. What you can't see is that Josh was coming up a hill with the sun at his back. He was also in the far left lane with a car waiting to turn left in the lane next to him. It would be blocking the truck driver's view of Josh coming up behind it. Still no excuse, but accidents happen. Just glad he's ok. Our offensive line should be pretty good this year if our starting center can take a hit from an F-150 and walk away. GO HAWKS!

@hnxm1 Sorry, when I said Josh was in the far left lane, I meant from the truck's point of view. The truck is in a left only lane, with another car across from him in the opposing left only lane. Josh came up the hill behind that car, going straight across the intersection. The truck didn't see him behind that left turning car until too late.

If you watch the video closely then you'll see that he DOES HAVE A HELMET on! Though it just a skull covering one. The impact and tumbling knocked the helmet off but you can clearly see it on the ground.

Its a good visul reminder that protective gear should be worn at all times (and no, he did not DESERVE to be hit because he was not wearing gear...he was lucky to walk away). As a biker I know that I have to assume that no one ever sees me despite bright head lights and brighter auxiliary running lights.
