What range Rita Moreno has -- here she's polynesian with Howard Keel, then in Singin in the Rain she's Zelda, and in Taste of New Orleans she's cajun. And all of 17 or 18 years... that's somethin'
Each one is good in it's own right. Both respected and talenteed artists.I prefer Judy's version. I wish it had made the cut ...but then again Harvey Girls is perfect as is.Thanks for sharing.
The Keel version just doesn't fit the setting at all. Seems more like it belongs in Seven Brides or Calamity Jane with those orchestrations. Like someone was trying to turn South Pacific into a western. Judy's version fits the setting perfectly.
What a hard choice!!! Both songs are cute, and both Keel and Judy have incredible voices. I think I like the lyrics of Hayride juuuuust a bit more. ;) Thanks for sharing!
Hard choice! Since Judy is my favorite female singer and Howard is my favorite male singer of that time. Guess I'd have to go with Judy though. Thanks for posting this!
poor Howard, ur good, but u have no chance next to ... whats-her-name?

They're both good, but Judy has a way to mesmerize with ANY song she sings.

With Judy's version, I keep expecting some to jump in and sing "that's howvwe laugh the day away in the merry old land of Oz"!

Definitely Howard Keel! He has such a great tone and texture to his voice.

I love Judy but I'm kind of biased here. Howard was soooo handsome. I vote Keel!
