Ah...I remember when this came out and was bummed when they canceled it. It was this show that taught me the meaning of something as simple as "XYZ...Examine your zipper." LOL Thank you SO much for posting! Couldn't find it anywhere else. :o)
couldn't remember the name of this show...it was just a couple images in my head from childhood...i googled and googled...found a message board or 2 that thought it was Midnight Cafe...but here it is... google, youtube, and people connecting around the world to find this little show. amazing to me. Now let's watch. It's been 20 years,
I've never heard of this show. I was watching The SImpsons on DVD. It was one of the Halloween episodes that had the segment called Nightmare Cafeteria. I was listening to the the commentary, and one of the guys said that it was based on this show. So I came to YouTube to see if somebody posted it, and here it is! :) I haven't watched it yet, but I hope it's like Freddy's Nightmares. That show isn't that great IMO, but there's something about it that's appealing about it to me.
@spongebob03 I can't say it's like Freddy's Nightmares. :) Nightmare Cafe has an ongoing storyline with a cast. I think it can be said that the cafe itself is a cast member. The cast has nice chemistry and watching their interactions is fun. Thank you for mentioning that The Simpsons episode! I think I watched it but I forgot all about it. Too bad Nightmare Cafe had a short life.
This was my favorite show as a kid. I can't believe you have this. I watched as many as I could but it always aired at midnight and my parents would never let me stay up and watch it. Now I'm 32 years old and have no idea if I'll still dig it the way I once did, but I'm about to watch this and see if it all comes back.
@BiggestOfDaddies I've been looking for it eveywhere. I wouldn't have been this much motivated if Jack Coleman wasn't in it. :) But I am so glad I found it, because it is a good show and apparently, it was very underrated.
@MrNoahBennet I didn't even remember Jack Coleman was in it. I've mentioned it on and off for years but could never find it anywhere. All the sudden the other night I thought of it again and went to have a look and sure enough, here it is. I've watched the first 2 episodes now and it's really taking me back. It was really a shame this didn't even last a full season.
@BiggestOfDaddies Same here. When I got interested in Jack Coleman's career, I found out that he was in Nightmare Cafe. I knew it was a Robert Englund show, but I had no knowledge of the other cast members.
I think it was a bit quirky for its time. It would have had a longer life, it aired today. It's still so much better than most of the shows out there.
@BiggestOfDaddies Oh, I am probably the biggest Jack Coleman fan you 'll ever find. :) So I know these things before anyone else does. :D Thanks for the heads up though. :D And I know that on 8 November, he'll be in House and later, in The Office, possibly for a recurring role. :D He'll play a government agent.
I LOVED this show and Robert Englund was Awesome in it!! I still remember this line from one of the episodes, when Faye asks if he can be killed or die or something. He looks at her, goes, "I don't know. Last time someone tried to kill me, Crossbows (or bow and arrows) were all the rage. Thwoop."
Hey, you should make this into a dvd, if you recorded all of it... i'll buy it :) seriously. sweet memories... i'm 25 now I was watching it as a kid too...
MrNoahBennet, I would say that you have no idea how great it is to see this show once again. But, I think you know. That being said, let me thank you from the bottom of my heart. I used to watch this series when it first debut (I was about 14 at that time). This is one series I wish would come out on DVD. And, if it has, know how I can find it?
When I watch these older shows, I'm always blown away by how much slower and more deliberate the pacing is, which I think really allows for much more tension to build. When's the last time you saw an episode of CSI that actually gave you a minute to soak in the settings and the ambiance before bombarding you with rushed dialogue and spastic scene changes?
Maybe these newbie directors think they have to do that to get younger viewers, but I'm 25 and I'd much rather watch something like this.
Me and my sister used to watch this when we were like ten. I remember thinking why it was so short for a good show. Now and then when the show comes to my mind I try to remember the name without any luck. So now when I've accidently find it in Tube its make me feel good. I better call my sister :)
I've been trying to remember the name of this show for five years since the last time I saw it was when I was 6 or so. Just tonight I finally found it, thanks for having it up!
this was a good show when i watched it first air, and was amazed even now that they took it off air... hey anyone remember shadow theatre, not sure but i think i may still have all the episodes of that, but really wish it would come out on dvd... hosted by englund on the usa network.
I am amazed that you posted this. This used to come on in 1996 at 1AM on NBC, and it used to be a late night high school guilty pleasure. Brings back great memories of a really good tv show.
I've got the audio CD of the series music. And true to how the studios screw you for paying for stuff. The theme supplied wasn't the cut they actually used. Minus the giggling child and other effects. So I kept checking here for a cut of the real opening theme. Even if the quality isn't CD level.
I'm really thrilled to see that someone has finally put Nightmare Cafe on YouTube! Thanks, Noah! I'm a huge fan of the show, even set up a website for it years ago, so it's great to see more and more people recognizing how awesome this series was. I too have been hoping to see it released on DVD for years... here's hoping that Jack Coleman's new boost in fame will help convince the studios that it's a good idea!
So weird that you have this on! Watched this when it first came out (I was shocked to discover it was 16 years ago, I was only 9!)
A while back I suddenly remembered this awesome show, so I did some internet digging, and was shocked and pleased to learn horn rim glasses guy was Frank!
I think we taped some of these and I must have watched it quite alot, I unexpectedly quoted some parts of the show, subconscious nostalgia for the win!
lol yeah i remember this show when i was living in arizona i was 8..? lol and yeah there is this channel on directv called "Chill" and they play it a lot, saw a description of one episode with brad pitt in it, thought that was neat
I saw this series on sale for $15 at warlockvideosdotcom. Maybe a home made copy but I guess all you find available is the soundtrack. I was 14 when this show came on--way ahead of it's time I think.
They'll release "The Twilight Zone" 1985 and 2002 series revivals, and "The Night Stalker" series on DVD, but not this. Grrrr! Hollywood makes me mad.
OH MY GOD! THERE IS A GOD THANK YOU THANK YOU! I found it I so love this show so happy now I miss it so much thank you it been so long I was a kid and seen the show I just did not know what happen after it never came back to air so thank you!
I have been looking for this forever! I was only 12 when it first aired, but I've always remembered it as being an awesome show. Robert Englund rules!
God Bless You, Noah!!! I haven't seen this in years and I was so pissed at NBC for canceling it before it had a chance to build an audience. I wish the the Sci-Fi channel was around back then. They would have appreciated it for it's originality.
LOL! Sorry for my overenthusiastic comment, I was really overdelighted after watching the show. I really thank you for uploading this so that other people have the opportunity to enjoy it ;-)
