I just started learning ASL a few months ago, so I can't speak with any authority-- but were you taught to sign party with a P handshape? My teacher hates most initialized signs, and the deaf community around me uses a Y handshape. I'm not criticizing, I'm just interested in whether or not it's a local dialect thing! I'm from Georgia if it makes any difference.

Last but not least ASL signing doesn’t match English words for word so those who said it didn’t make sense, its two different language our language is a picture language, yours is a vocal, you can express things with sounds. we have to express things with pictures which requires a visual expressions among other things. Its just like speaking Spanish and then trying to translate it in English its never word for word, and sometimes the meaning isn’t the same,

also just because we are deaf doesn’t meant we cant speak, some deaf people speak better then others, just like some deaf sign better then others, it works the same way with hearing people some hearing people are great speakers, they stand up in front of people and speak very well, others get tongue twisted, it happens.

Yes it shows she is in training and that she is learning the language, but do we care about that no, deaf people are just glad she took the time to try to understand us a little, and learn our language, is she skilled at it, the answer is no, but do we hold that against her, again the answer is no! Okay some of you guys don’t understand what is like being deaf, so as a deaf person I am going to try to explain. Just because we are deaf doesn’t mean we don’t or can’t enjoy the same things you guys enjoy. We enjoy music just like you guys do, we "listen" to music a little different then hearing people, but we do enjoy it. I give her all the credit in the world to her for signing this song for us.

@DaWorldLoves Deaf people can speak. They are DEAF not mute. Even if you are born deaf you can speak. You still have vocal cords. You are correct, they cannot hear what they are saying. A lot of deaf children go to speech therapy to learn how to make the sounds of each letter and pronounce words. You should really know what you are saying before posting shit like that. It can be really offensive to some. This was an excellent video. It made perfect sense to me. Good job girl!

I am hearing impaired myself and I wear hearing aids and I find it extremely hard sometimes to talk even being deaf, I get very tongue tied easy and find it difficult to get words out of my mouth. Yes we are deaf not MUTE but from experience with some of my friends who are completely deaf find that we can't hear ourselves speak which makes its extremely hard.
