it is imo, try out the demo first maybe (even though it does't really do justice to the game). The interface is really good, and the ruse system allow good player to make crazy awesome tricks. Make sure to play the campaign before going in the multiplayer though, many people don't and then lack a good undertanding of the mechanics, so they lose.

The demo is crap but the actual game in skirmish is a dream come true for a WW II rts fan. The only thing I dont like is how it is marketed it as ground and naval combat when their are no ships in the game. Only some ship props for the campaign. massive bonus is their is no pop cap and 30x30 mile maps.

This looks amazing. I especially love how the view changes from battlefield to war room as you zoom out. The first footage i saw of this game, it was being played on a touchscreen tabletop computer, that would be awesome, combine it with the voice control that Endwar had and it would be the ULTIMATE RTS!!!

I fully agree with you. I bought the game the day it came out and I played the Beta. I think this is among the better strategy games, maybe the best... definitely the most advanced.

As a gamer you'll most likely get a huge adrenaline rush playing a match whether it's 1v1 or 4v4!

What the hell are the Pershings do near Monte Cassino? Well pretty graphics, but poor reality. I mean Pershings see just a little combat at the end of ww2 (1945 febr.) And there are just 20 of 200 were seen combat until the end of ww2.

I wish in this we can use superior axis armor, to crush the allied paper tanks.

I'm very impressed with what Ubisoft is doing with this game. Even if it doesn't live up to the trailers it is a leap forward in how strategy games are played. They've eliminated outdated systems and are exploring the possibility of war strategies more carefully. The complexity of this game's strategy and the variety of tactics available demonstrate they are taking strategy seriously and aren't just making it into a rock-paper-scissors game of type matching. It's actually fairly straight forward, I haven't figured out how to use programmable hotkeys - I don't think it's available in the Beta.

originally I didn't like it that much the game is overwhelming, but I stuck with it, and now I am fairly convinced that this is one of the best real time strategy games ever made.

there are a few problems I don't like, such as the hidden build menu and the fact that it's really difficult to keep track of everything.

They got it a little historically incorrect:

The Germans did NOT occupy the Monestry atop mount Cassion. A special agreement with the Pope had them stay atleast 300Meters away and that no armed soldiers may enter, cos they had refugees in there and an occasional German Doctor would aid them up there.

When the alleis bombed it (thinking that Germans were in it) the Germans THEN occupied the monestry.

I played the beta. Firstly, it's not too much like Total War. I own and love that game, but total war focuses much more on strategy while Ruse is more like a cleverly done traditional RTS. You still have the same resource demands, unit spam, and anything you would see in games like Star craft, but this adds a few strategies. Personally, I love this game, but the damn DRM (or what I assume is DRM) is annoying as hell.
