  • what the difference between acrylic and oil paint? o.O i never use oils..

  • @thunderlovelightning hi: main differences: 1) oil paint dries slower so you can work into wet paint for longer time. This makes creating smooth gradients of color more easy. 2) oil paint can have a larger concentration of pigment than acrylic. (but you have to get 'artist quality' oil paint) This makes mixing colors easier.

  • @josvanr ohh..now i get it. seems very interesting,i would want to try to use oil paint after this. thank you very much sir! :)

  • @thunderlovelightning keep up the good spirit!

  • Do you ever use acrylics? Would you recommend them or oils?

  • @Cruelhazard I did use acrylics once in a while. Dries quickly so more rapid layering than with oils. However, I developed my wet-into-wet painting technique to a point that I don't feel the need anymore to use more than one layer in a day. (ie I can spend more than 1 day painting wet into wet). Also in oils it seems to be easier to achieve the color you want.. So I'd try oils, but use good ones, eg Old Holland. (the cheap A series of oll holland will do)

  • beautiful - how long did it take you to paint these shoes?

  • @bronichka don't remember exactly. what you see in the video is probable 2 or 3 times 4 hours or so (wet into wet session with painting in the freezer over night); the bulk of the work. Then afterwards I tend to adjust and add.... can take long sometimes.

  • awwwwwwww myyyyyyyyyyyy GODDDDDDDDDD

  • what palette are you using for the back ground?

  • @xxfrijolxx I don't think in terms of pigments, just colors I see and where they are located on the color circle and I adapt the mixture when necessary. So I don't recall the exact pigments but I think the plane on which the shoes stand was kind of violet to the edges and went to a lighter yellow/green where the shoes are (of course both very pale versions of those colors). Pigments probably titanium white, ultramarine violet, lemon yellow and maybe transparent oxide red and ultramarine blue.

  • @xxfrijolxx the background wall is a grey leaning to green a bit so probably ultramarine blue, transparent oxide red, white, and a bit of green or lemon yellow. But you have to try: try the first 4 pigments first, and if it is too green, add some yellow or vice versa. Or if the color seems too green, add some blue. What also influences the color perception is the homogeneity of the color: ie the plane consists of strokes of slightly different colors not of a single color mixture..

  • grande pittore iperrealista. l'erede di caravaggio

  • @mauryjo vedi anche Luciano Vetrone. ciao

  • wicked talent! just want to ask if you had attended any art school, i'm planning to enroll in one.

  • @nss72 hello. No I don't have a formal educgnomeation in painting. I do have a msc in physics. I get most of my information from the internet and of course from fellow artists.....

  • Nice job, very well done.

But if you sell this painting, you should probably invest in some new boots.

  • @mattthematchman It was a commission, not my boots.....

  • God bless you!!!

  • Lovely work!

  • You are definately a talent! Man you need to be out there where people can see you! I support you 100%! Would love to buy one of your paintings, i would frame it in the entrance of my house!!!!!! keep up the great work, do u have an email, or a way to communicate? Would love to learn from u, whatever it takes!! Peace ;)

  • excellent work!!

i like even your unfinished painting at, say around 02:00. i could easily put such a painting on the wall and enjoy it! :)

although im into water colour, your painting videos are making me more and more interested in trying out oils.

    cheers ... :))

  • Wonderfully done. It was an honor to receive a comment from you.

  • there is acrylic varnis on there ;-)

  • interesting that you don't prime your surface, looks good though

  • hi, thnx.. Its painted on mdf. It reflects light because I 'oiled out' the panel before starting to paint.......

  • What does oiled out mean? This is a really beautiful pair of old boots it looks finished to me but i hope you show the progress.

  • It means that you rub in a thin layer of medium all over the canvas or panel before starting to paint...

As for the next layers of paint: the most happens in the beginning, in the next layers there is not much change to see in a video. So I'll only publish the finished result on my site.. (and I don't want to reveil all my old masterly secrets of course)....

  • really nice...looks like the painting is on glass to me.nice painting though, makes me want to paint my boots.
