  • SIMPLY FANTASTIC

  • This performance is fierce. And the waist tie is adorable.I can't believe some people think it's a new trend..

  • she is so so stiff on the right shoulder with a really high elbow in D and G even more!!! You can tell from the sound...

  • one if my favorite concertos(: she played it soo well!

  • I know many people who play the violin but she can play the violin.

  • those 6 people who disliked this must be really deaf.. cause this is fantastic !

  • her interpretation is the best I've heard. I adore it

  • This performance is very good but I heard Perlman and was so fantastic. You need heard him! Realy!

  • I like the middle (A-B-A) and last movement (double exposition w coda)better, I can´t figure out the structure of this first movement. sonata structure?

  • ``zebatida (1 year ago)``

She's Silvia Marcovici, romanian, she debut under B.Maderna, she won the 1°in the M. Long Competition, the special prize of Rainier III, and the George Enescu Competition in Bucharest. She preformed whit L.Stokowski the Glazunov Concerto with the London Symphony at the Royal Albert Hall.

  • She really brings this work to life like no one else does

  • Her playing is exquisite

    and she is really beautiful

  • shes good but her sound is dull and that bow hold is not good shes barely holding onto the stick...but otherwise great performance

  • our high school orchestra played this at our last concert...it's the song I listen to in the car when no one's around.

and i love it when people move when they play! it shows passion!

  • movement doesnt always show passion. it is also used as a tactic to enhance a performance through distraction. -_-''

  • lol do you play? because i do and body movement is usually more of a subconcious thing. and also some body movements are beneficial to the sound of the instrument if you didnt know

  • yes i play. i dont deny that body movement is usually subconcious. i personally move a little bit, but all im saying is that it usually affects the sound negatively. a little movement is not unnacceptable, imean even the "stoic" Heifetz moved, but to say that movements are beneficial, i would disagree. you are shifting angle, pressure, contact points, and sounding points with every extra movement. that is the main argument against movement, if you didnt know

  • Well Vengerov and Bell have proven you wrong. They move like noone else, more than this lovely lady, and they still manage to sound utterly aamazing.

I wouldn't go as far as sheepbird and say movement is beneficial, but it adds passion and you can still sound just as good!

  • passion is what one feels towards something/someone. yes, Vengerov and Bell move like no1 else, but that doesnt deny the fact that an audience is not always musically literate. what a postman sees in a concert is some1 "passionate" about their music, versus a musician who sees someone playing music. if we wanna tlk bout amazing sound, get the masters together and hav them play behind curtains. then come bak nd say that the ones that are "passionate" in their movement sound the best. i dare you.

  • lol. Well, inukiel, that would be pretty hard to do, getting all of the masters behind a curtain. Haha. But, I do agree. Bell's sound is pretty, but very one dimensional and Vengerov's though fuller, is still not as deep and soulful as others I've heard. Thanks though.

  • yes, in golf swing should not move, but passionate violin play there is no way to be a statue like frozen fixed positon, b/c weight of the arm and bow. it is physics. not only bell but celtic women and mae moves, and play good, remember this is not golf.

  • yes but there are ways of moving that effect that actually help your sound quality rather than effecting it negatively. I do agree most motions do effect playing negatively but if done with conscious thought it can be a benefactor

  • that, i agree with you

  • do you have a short pinky?

  • @c0stc0dud1 I think i know what you mean frend. the violinist Pinchas Zukerman is known to his frends as 'Pinky' :-)

  • it was a great performance...but I think the ending should've been a little stronger.

  • gotta love her playing and this piece :]

  • she's amazingggg!!!

    i love this song.

the double stop octaves are the hardest part.

    ..but she does them flawlessly!!

    ZOMG. x__o

  • it's not a song man

    it's a master"PIECE"

  • she is a very good player...the sound i mean. I have right to criticize her, however, i would say that her arm would hurt at the end of the concerto...her position is a little awkward.

still...she's pretty good. I prob. can't play like that ^-^

  • I would say that I would have to agree with mudidopolo. If your motions or physical setup are causing a deficiency of sound or missing of notes (Vengerov rarely but at times)than that is one thing. But as for the arm, there are many ways to play the violin. Plus I don't think you last in the performing world as long as she has if your arm hurts after every concert. I actually know a few people who play with this arm position and it doesn't hurt them at all, and they are excellent violinists

  • She is so beautiful!! and talented!! I hope she comes to the states on tour...would love to hear her.

  • makes me proud to be Romanian, that's all I'm gonna say........

    exudes virtuosity...

  • nice ! strange way to hold the bow though ! never seen that before xD

  • Very good - better than her Lalo I think.

  • Rhapsodic; nerve-defying musical powers. Fascinating.

  • fantastic

  • she plays great - im in love
