  • I used to have the VHS tape but not anymore. I really like the one Desi Arnaz says goodnight everybody. Thanks for downloading a SNL clip of Desi Arnaz. He was very talent.

  • MAN! HOW DID I FORGET HOW GREAT HE WAS? SHAME ON ME....AND OH BY THE WAY 2012 PEOPLE OF TODAY, THIS IS ENTERTAINMENT, THIS IS TALENT AND THIS IS DEFINITELY SEXY!!

Thank you so much for posting this. Wish I could find the Babalu one from this episode

And oh ya, that is Desi jr playing conga's behind him, looking just like him. And in the movie Mambo Kings with Anotonio Bandaras and Antonio Bandaras, Desi jr plays his father. Check it out.

  • He still had the talent in those days!

  • The shirts being worn by the drummer and band. What are those shirts/style called. please, anyone, ive been searching all over? thanks

  • @bikerjon1 I think the drummer is Desi Arnaz, Jr.

  • When he called out the start of "BABALU!" I felt my hair stand up. It was a hell of a performance, and I could understand how Desi was a legend. It was electric.

  • Still sexy.

  • HE CAN STILL SWING THOSE HIPS BACK THEN couldnt he ;) <3

  • @sedona74 oh yeah

  • Latin flavor add to the US and to the world an special spice !

  • Thumbs up, I saw that clip on SNL on dvd 1st season, disc 3 . Desi as guest star was one of best shows. The other clips with him are very good too even now go check them out.

  • GOTTA LOVE CUBAN PETE!

  • wow, he didn't look too good here :(.

  • Desi Arnaz really did have a lot of talent. He was instrumental in Desilu Productions.

  • yeahh man!!

  • at the moment, i'm not sure...i think i have the final song

  • What other sketches?

  • do you have this whole episode?

  • @16lucylover not anymore :( only a few sketches

  • @16lucylover All SNL is streaming on Netflix.

  • Desi Sr. didn't age well, but he still had that charm !!!

  • OMG I cant believe I just saw this ! Desi Arnaz singing Cuban Pete when he was 59 years old ! wow....amazing !

  • Bravo, Laraine and Desi!

I wish I had seen this during the original broadcast...

  • @EdM021 And bravo Desi, Jr. ... es muy fabulosa on the bongoes! So young and cute, yet like his dad a sophisticated maestro percussive artist.

  • Yea, he's still hot!

  • T_T this song isnt the same without lucille ball. -_- and desi's voice didnt change at all unlike lucy's

  • awwww, thank you!! loved this!

  • sad that he died at 69....too much smoking/drinking

  • @lbendik6301 He died of lung cancer

  • I saw this when it aired in 1976 as well. It was wonderful, he was quite a man!

  • Apart from the central star, Desi Jr. es fabulosa on the bongoes, has Sr.'s uniquely just right, sophisticated sense of syncopated rhythms. And also perfecta es Laraine Newman as la Cubana seniorita who sings the intro--with her trademark purity of artista integrity in staying in and projecting her characters with adamantine power.

  • Here in 1976 the elder Desi Arnaz is a Cuban-American Maurice Chevalier -- he had style, grace, talent, subtle humor, sophisticated rhythm and a sonorous mature singing voice: a class act, a joy to the end. Sui generis!

  • That song is Cuban Pete from a movie he made back in the 40's and also a different version from the I Love Lucy show....and that is Desi Jr. playing the bongos !!

  • taking care of ur teeth wasnt important back then... i wish it was the same today o.o lol

  • DESI WAS HANDSOME AS AN OLDER MAN AS WELL

  • Cute. I saw this show, Desi was promoting his autobiography at the time, I believe. That is his and Lucy's son Desi, Jr. in the white shirt playing the bongo drums.

  • This is the song from The Mask starring Jim Carey. His version is better imo.

  • Originally telecast on February 21, 1976 (and I saw it then!). Desi's closing number was, of course,"Babalu", with everyone doing a wild conga around Studio 8-H- right into the closing credits...

  • @cinnamar this song is Cuban Pete. But I think it might be a different version from the original... :-)

  • what song is this? was this the original?

  • When Desi Arnaz was introduced as the guest host for this episode of SNL, he got maybe the longest standing ovation in the history of that show. It brought tears to my eyes.

  • @WSenator1 me too and he deserved it

  • Oh I see him in I Love Lucy too!

He was a reaaally handsome fella!

  • That's right Jeannious, he'll always be the handsome man to me too! This is another fav song which i like when he did on I Love Lucy.

  • Desi is still a favoriteof mine, I still see him as the handsome man on I Love Lucy
