  • Living in the wrong century

  • i'm 23, but i truly admire that time when singers were preforming for a cause and today they do it for money.. so sad.

  • To bad u didnt die from heroin :( at least grace slicks alive

  • Janis....this makes us realize how much shit that's floating around the hitlists today....

  • Vote Ron Paul!

  • Her sex appeal was immense!

  • @Dani8132m And for some reason she thought she wasn't really good enough for sex appeal..

  • Salve Janis Joplin!

  • Es increible lo ke llega a transmitir kon su voz y su actitud..Siempre te amaremos Janis **

  • I love Janis! My mom was always listening to her, back when I was younger, I did not like this screaming woman. But now.. now I love her.

And now that I have read the lyrics, I can relate to this song and I find it awesome.

  • que lastima haber perdido tan espectacular voz , lo bueno es que existen muchos registros y este vídeo esa una muestra de ello , Janis tu voz nunca se perderá !

  • "Rolling Stone magazine ranked Joplin number 28 on its 2008 list of 100 Greatest Singers of All Time"

on my list of greatest singers of all time, she'll be easily at the top.

  • where was this????

  • @rachelfishfry13 The Generation Club in NYC, April 1968. The Wake of Martin Luther King, Jimi Hendrix also played, among others.

  • anybody got the chords ? Intro is sounding awesome .

what is he using ? I mean expect from those rainbowpills :D

  • What a woman!!

  • this is my favorit janis joplin song.

  • i'd have hit that

  • She left everything out there, nothing was left when she walked off of the stage. What an artist.

  • Why does no singer work on the emotions today??? Why are people more interested in that high note than in the story told???

  • Never seen this treasure before. THANK YOU!

  • beutiful woman

  • @beatlesDARKing yeah...the most beautiful among the ugliests...:))

  • Janis...you're one of my biggest inspirations... i cry a bit when i listen to this...

  • JANIS IS FUCKING AWESOME!!!!

  • ohh ... my god!!!!!

  • yeah....take another little piece of my heart, and never give nothin back!

  • Heaven is Woodstock without the mud. It is a music festival in the clouds. Where all the best artist play all day. Janis is there. Jimi's there, Kurts there, John Bonham there, Keith Moon's there, John Enswitle's there, Brian Jones is there, Jim Morrison is there, and Amy Winehouse is also there. And the crowd are mortals like you and me...

  • @DeepSnowBand Jim M spent most of his time in the outhouse. Bobby Darin & the original composers were there. Can't do it today though. There have been so many artists arrested right after a song Cohen was arrested without charge, Janis Joplin, Jimi's house was set on fire and pronounced dead by the press as was Janis. Jim Morrison headed out to France to an empty coffin. Willie Nelson was arrested as a said Charles Manson to be replaced by a lookalike. Composers stay home

  • @DeepSnowBand l think u wanted to say the hell..:))

  • @DeepSnowBand or maybe thats just hell. its where the parties at. ;)

  • @DeepSnowBand These folks may be together but they're not in heaven!

  • @

DeepSnowBand ...John Lennon's there...Gary Moore's there ...we miss you all

  • @DeepSnowBand Doesn't come close to what heaven Is not by an Infinity.I appreciate the great music though.

  • @DeepSnowBand..... Have you been to there lately? How do you know what Heaven is or isn't....or who is or isn't there? I sure hope whenever I get to where I'm going DimeBag Darrell Lance Abbott and Cliff Burton are there. What a jam session that would be. Oh, and Jim Morrison or Ronnie Van Zant on vocals. Rip to all great artists who met untimely demises....

  • @DeepSnowBand

You can't forget Elvis, John Lennon, Mama Cass, or Freddie Mercury.

  • nikt tak nie zaśpiewa jak ona

  • I love U Janis

  • <3

  • I LOVE JANIS JOPLIN AS WELL...!

  • im a big zeppelin fan and ive always thought that janis was the only singer that can match robert plant. both ferocious singers with that fire in their voices.

  • I LOVE JANIS JOPLIN

  • @USAmadeinchina Agreed:) regards from Europe :)

  • LOOK FORWARD TO CATCHING YOU ON THE OTHERSIDE SOMEDAY AND I HOPE TO FIND YOU LIVING IN PEACE & HARMONY.....

  • @cfmontalbo I WANT TO GO TO THAT CONCERT THEY WILL BE HAVING!

  • u took a piece of our heart when u left us janis

  • BIG BROTHER & THE HOLDING COMPANY had such a unique "sloppy" sound that it totally RULED! Nobody could make a guitar sound so BLITZED like James Gurley could (that's Sam Andrews you're seeing btw, Gurley is to the far left out of the camera shot). And their sound WORKED with Janis. Just like Jimi's laid back vocal style juxtaposed against his intense guitar playing brilliantly.

  • EPIC!

  • i love her so much i would of loved to be able to see her live souch a loss to rock music

  • i love janis!

  • Kinda good cover but she ain't Janis

  • @fredmyrtz this is janis

  • If i can pick a time to go back to it would be the time of Janis Joplin... I would have loved to meet er, and probably get star struck!! She is my idol...

  • Any idea of what venue this was? My parents hated her. We loved her.

  • I think it say a lot that even when the sound quality isn't the best this group of musicians can give you goosebumps! You can't manufacture this kind of raw talent and quality and damn anyone that tries!

  • Amazing!

  • piece of my fart

  • when will the great talents realize that heroine will KILL you. It has killed so many greats, it WILL kill you. Please don't let it. We need your music! We needed another 30 years of Jains, Jimmy, and so many more.

  • @shawnkevinobrien Billie Holiday.

  • @tbhamdg true that!

  • Isn't it funny that nobody remembers the asshole that Janis was so tormented by, but eveybody remembers her.

  • You know you got it if it makes you feel good

  • This uploaded on my birthday three years ago. :D

  • What an amazing voice.

  • So great . . . just so great.

  • Thank goodness some of this old video of her performing still exists! Piece of My Heart was one of her best songs.

  • 1:00 - 1:05 goosebumps

  • That voice is amazing she well and truly deserves her place in history as a legend with Hendrix, Jim, and co. Pure raw talent.

  • Minha preferida !!!

    Very Good !!!

  • 31 people dont like this. i'm sure they made a mistake, how the hell can somebody say this is shit?

  • QUIERO UNA VIEJA ASÍ JAJA

  • Big Brother are excellent musicians. Funny how these guys from the sixtees are far better than the musicians today.

  • Is this Big Brother or Country Joe, etc. Well, regardless the sound is the same. hippie, underground, etc., and great!

  • @DameDisco78 B.B & The Holding Co.

  • Big Brother and The Holding Company: Deemed to have produced "masterpieces of the psychedelic genre of music". In other words, they are SUPPOSED to sound a little disjointed... (pardon the pun lol ) :)

  • @damedisco78 I agree...even though she died 40 yrs ago still NO ONE can touch her when it comes to pure, raw talent.

  • Janis IS the Queen of Rock & Roll!

  • When I listen to her songs, sometimes I don't even realize there's a band playing in the background. Her singing just overpowers all around her.

  • the talented beautiful awesome janis joplin..gone but will never be forgotten..missing u still, rest in peace..

  • Awsome !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Feel sorry for Janis, she always had the shittiest bands to back her.

  • @Murreh Wait a minute... With all due respect - are you saying you do not like Big Brother & The Holding Company. You have just disagreed with an entire generation of men and women! However, you are entitled to your opinion which I will take under consideration. lol :) ("incredible"...).

  • @DameDisco78 Big Brother was the only good band she had.

  • rest in peace janis, i dont kno wat would have happened to me if it wast for u <33

  • A LADY WItH SO MUCH TALENT AND PASSION IN HER SONGS SHE GAVE IT ALL

  • This was obviously shot RT. WOW!!

  • she really repersents her car

  • i love you Janis

  • I love w0bbl3r`s comment. There are still males like that running free?. Thought they were all in a zoo by now or museum. x

  • I am much uglier than her. Compared to me, she has a beautiful face...

  • All these people saying how sexy she is wouldnt be saying that if she werent a rock star.

Not saying she isnt sexy, but its the rock and roll that makes her sexy.

I have seen the ugliest women you could imagine turn into beauties when they start to perform, as long as they are good at it, it is the sexiest thing in the world.

Especially women who are playing the bass or playing the sax.

Share Pedersen is proof positive of sexy bass players. Not especially attractive until the starts playing

  • @w0bbl3r Totally agree, just look at Tina Turner, not a real beauty but my god when she starts performing!

  • @gingerkisses Exactly.

There is just something about a woman that can perform that can turn her into the sexiest creature you can imagine.

I suppose it is the same with male performers. I mean I am not gay, but I can tell that some are attractive guys who I could understand women wanting, but many are just gross ugly, and couldn't even hold a candle to someone who really IS pretty ugly like me.

  • Only if she knew, What a beautuful and sexy women she really is! Both from the inside and out.

  • i would do her

  • I got mine, I hope you did!!!

  • White soul

  • 31 people suck cock.

  • She was so ugly

  • @cicconefortin fvck u mottafucka .l.¬_¬"

  • @ThEpRiDeOFuFc actually she is not so beautiful (I mean face), but inside she was the most beautiful (I mean soul)

  • @ThEpRiDeOFuFc Go to hell, she was not beautiful. I love her music, she was a great artist, but she was not looking good in this video.. besides that is just my point of view

  • @cicconefortin you want ugly? look at the bassist! ...and besides she was not ugly

  • id fuck the shit outta her

  • @Mypinkglowstixx: Too bad she couldn't keep herSELF alive!

  • @sharona54 maybe she didnt want to be.... we have no idea of the pain she was going thru inside... a pain so bad that there wasnt enough drugs in the world to stop it.... or was there... :( RIP Janis

  • 31 people don't have heart.

  • No other singer I know lived more in "the moment" than Janis Joplin. She sang each song as if there was no past and no tomorrow, only the present. She held nothing back and put it all on the line. That was her great strength, and ultimately her downfall.

  • If only we'd had the portable recording back then that's available now. This is an amazing, musically "tight" performance that suffers only from recording quality. She was awesome!

  • 31 People Can go Die in a Hole.

  • @SHERFARKUS Make it 33...

  • She covered it so well because you can see she understands the song when she sings it. She understands the soul of the song, not just the lyrics and music.

  • like a lot of the more popular ones(of the '60's) she's bonkers, there are two kinds of musicians, tallented ones who work hard as Yes or Zeplin, the Who, and Fleetwood Mac and ones who rely on dope and haroin to aquire "tallant". Like this one or Black Sabbeth. and Roll'n Stone.

  • @fucheduck Moron

  • watch AMANDA OVERMYER also sing this same song PIECE OF MY HEART at all her concerts while on tiour promoting her new album SOLIDIFY (itunes). You can see Overmyer's version also posted over YOUTUBE ...

  • @Alchemist406 HONESTLY GUY....

Fundamentally I usually do not get caught up in YOU TUBE rants like yours, but, COME ON GUY !!

If you are are going to call someone a "FAGOT" (spelled with one G) at least learn how to speak the

    English language.

I doubt you know what I am talking about this point and let me reiterate, I am not talking about the mis-spelling of' "FAGOT". I doubt anyone who is not homosexual is smart enough were the origin of that word comes from...

Try using the word, "AN" !!

  • my mom loved this song and so do i years and years later u rocked then and still do janis ...

  • one of the best song voises of all time

  • No female singing today can sing like Janis. Susan Tedeschi comes close, but Janis can't be topped. Didn't need 20 costume changes, bullshit backup dancers or to have her chest enlarged. She'd rather die than lip-sync anything. Had the immense pleasure of hearing her a number of times and meeting her twice. She cannot be replaced. God love her and God keep her.

  • @bigbadfitter Listen to Haley Reinhart sing this song. She is fabulous and Janis would have loved it.

  • @bigbadfitter any1 today cannot compare. totally agree. congrats on meeting her. I missed her. :(

  • Do we have to say anything? There are no words to describe how powerful her voice is.

  • nice to see real live perfomance,

I bored with all these slideshows with always the same pictures

  • janis, you kept me alive.. ty for being such an inspiration!!

  • @mypinkglowstixx

the same feeling and it goes for 17 years now

  • Her voice is awesome and powerful. Don't feel like a douche, SHE IS BAD ASS!

  • Real Music.....

  • @TheSilverback2004 Not only that, but they all died within a year.

  • Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin = King and Queen of the hippies!!

  • amo amo amo.....

  • Brilliant. There just isn't any other word for this woman. Just amazing to watch and listen to even by todays standards..assuming there any standards any more.

  • The nuances of her moves, her passion for her art form and the message of the story she projects, her stage presence, all adds up to a blazing hotness of the nth degree...

  • I watch this and I cry...honestly, she truly was a legend...so much pain in her voice! =(

  • @crazychica1972 are you a guy by chance? only reason i ask is, so i can feel better about myself

because i am a guy...and her voice makes me cry every time i listen to it, and i feel like a total douche for it

the power and pain in her voice is just...ummmm well enough to make a guy cry that didn't cry when his grandma died..which is not to try to sound cool.. just saying

  • JANIS LIVES ON .............................

  • clit boner!

  • The One, the Only!

  • shes pasionate talented thats all that matters its about the music.soo fucking what if shes "ugly"

  • @waytobluee I'm not sure I believe that Janis was ugly. I watched her bio last night....she looked beautiful to me. And, those pipes....Jaysus!!!

  • @sonnabird1976 well its to the people that keep saying shes ugly.,i believe that it shouldnt matter

  • @TheSilverback2004 and kurt cobain

  • The one and only Janis Joplin.................

  • First off, how could anyone thinks she's ugly...and second, why the fuck does it matter!?

  • this is how ugly girl can be sexy

  • alguien me pidio que lo subiera y ahi esta... mi favorita.... enjoy la voz de esta mujer era la mejor una voz fuerte, estruendosa, poderosa... la voz definitivamente

  • Strange and powerful. She doesn't care if she's ugly when she sings. She feels is so deep, that she looks wonderful

  • died in the same age who died yesterday Amy...at 27 years old!

  • Ewwwww shes ugly

  • @iluvfantage1 I'm sure your not much better to look at. Janis at least had talent.

  • i love the videos of her... u can see everything in real... she was not a lier or something u can say there's influence of the musical industry... but, 23 people are still dumbfucks! maybe they love justin bieber... oh God where's the world gonna stop?

  • I remember being 4 and hearing Janis Joplin for the first time and being utterly convinced she was a black woman. I had this image in my head of a real beautiful black woman with such a beautiful voice. I didn't discover who Janis Joplin really was until my 9th birthday. Such talent and such soul in her voice that can rarely be found in a white woman.

  • @KM8966 I thought the same thing when I was little, but I still love her nonetheless!

  • @KM8966 lol.. I was a little kid too the first time I heard that voice busting out. I thought it was a black soul singer too. I still think she was the best- maybe an Etta James or Mama Thorton being her equal. But she was the best of her short era, and I include Aretha Franklin in that. The best soul singer ever, damn the color.

  • I think im in love

  • Im gonna show you baby a woman can be tough... and she sure did, Janis just blows me away.

  • @cat120977

A unique talent blowing my mind when ever i listen to her!

  • super !!!!!

  • Man Im 19 years old and I am super bummed to have missed the 60's.

  • @jgar6 And the 70's.

  • ..JANIS.....BEST EVER....INFINITY.....GOD SOUL....LOVE YOU JANIS

  • Cont....the killing machine was the evil lizard in the background and we stood together

I do not remember trying to kill kill kill........music was our mainline and the girls were so natural .I f you got to far out in the realm of ego mania you got pulled in quick.School / college/university and making a differance morally ethically and socially with

intellectual boundaries and well thought out plans within a community were goals not just making alot of money to satisfy the status quo

  • the era of the reel to real sound where you could really groove at a concert smoke a joint sit back play vinyl ....concerts were 4.95 a ticket and peace was bigger then celeb. status or thong underwear.Sex was freedom not packaged ,Jesus was cool not sold,he grew his own...violence was taboo and being a junkie was a bad move in the drug world ,People were political ,sociological, intellectual ,protesting the Gov't and standing up for minority groups.Rapid marterialism was taboo we shared more

  • This is the LADY.....wish we had some like her today nobody out there has her soul.

  • She sung in a different key in later years. It sounds much better in this key; same as the record. So good.
