He'll be a perfect replacement for Chester Taylor. He has many of the same skill sets, plus he's got an arm (former baseball player, threw for a touchdown against Notre Dame). He'll make the most of his ten touches or so a game. Very smart pick by Minnesota.

Can't play in the NFL? It took 2 minutes of watching that to completely erase that from my thoughts. He may not be a superstar, but he's going to an asset to someone and a great all-around football player. May not be a starter but he could fill in for Michael Turner for my team any day.

All of Gerhart's critics have one thing in common. They were all proven to be completely and utterly wrong.
Every week the panels came together and decided that this was the week, the defense was just too good against the run, he was going to get shut down. And it never happened. Everyone calls him a "powerback" but the reason he always got up to speed was because he had excellent instincts and agility, I think he'll make a fantastic red zone and 3rd and short back in the NFL.
I doubt he'll have much success in the NFL... the only way I could see him succeeding is as a tight end. He just doesn't have the explosive speed that most NFL players have... look how slow he hits holes. in the NFL they'd be there and gone again by the time he got to them. Maybe I'm wrong though. If he gets a sub 4.5 at the combine, which I don't think will happen. it looks like he'll be getting 4.5-4.7 from what I've seen. But who knows, maybe he'll do decent in the 40. He's a FB or TE at best

People can say what they want. Sure, he is white. He does have average speed. However, I see someone, who lowers the BOOM on people. He is quick for his size. He is a faster, athletic version of Mike Alstott. I see an NFL RB. I know he is playing against PAC 10 defenses. Now, he does get props for running over USC. I would NOT be surprised to see him be a star in the NFL.

You put Gerhart behind the Alabama offensive line and he might have put better numbers than Ingram did against SEC defenses.

possibly his coach told him that if gerhart gets to him, don't risk dropping him at the 1 yard line as that would only delay the inevitable and burn up precious time to try to tie the game. another explanation is that after seeing the cornerback get run over, he knew it was pointless to try to stop him. most would try out of principle, but this guy didn't want to get trucked for nothing. although it would have been entertaining to see.
I was disappointed to see Mark Ingram win the heisman trophy because i really felt that Toby Gerhart was so deserving of it. However, it's really not a huge deal. Toby was awarded the Doak Walker Award(#1 running back in the nation) and had an amazing senior season. Stanford and Gerhart will now be focusing on playing Oklahoma in the Sun Bowl. I'll be excited to see that game and more of Toby Gerhart playing in the future.

Alabama has the biggest and arguably the best O line in the last 5 years and your boyfriend Ingram could barely put together a MEDIOCRE season. Two, there is no Stanford O line 15 yards past the line of scrimmage when Gerhart is breaking 3, 4, 5 tackles by defensive players (not 'some shit player') on USC, Oregon, Cal, and so on.

The avg rank of rush defense of the SEC schools is 56 & the avg rank of the Pac10 schools is 48. Removing both schools from their conf. & the Pac10 still has a better avg 61-46. Schedules - the avg rank rush def Ingram faced in 12 games was 66(didn't count Chattanooga D1AA). The avg Gerhart faced was 58. Statistically Gerhart faced better teams & put up better numbers.

He reminds be of Steven Jackson from the Rams. Great power and underrated speed. The PAC-10 easily has the best collection of RB's this year, and Gerhart was able to separate from the rest.

Toby Gerhart is the man! He deserves the Heisman trophy for sure. Not only is he an amazing running back, he is also an outstanding student and he plays with respect and integrity. He lets his football do the talking and he's not cocky or boastful like so many other players we see today. I have a lot of respect for Gerhart.
This guy reminds me of a young Mike Alstot, but I won't say that as a big comparison because I want this guy to play tail back in the NFL. I just love the old school power backs: Bo Jackson, Earl Campbell, Jim Brown, Eddie George and of course the best big man of my generation Jerome Bettis.

All of Gerhart's critics have one thing in common. They were all proven to be completely and utterly wrong.
Every week the panels came together and decided that this was the week, the defense was just too good against the run, he was going to get shut down. And it never happened. Everyone calls him a "powerback" but the reason he always got up to speed was because he had excellent instincts and agility, I think he'll make a fantastic red zone and 3rd and short back in the NFL.

I doubt he'll have much success in the NFL... the only way I could see him succeeding is as a tight end. He just doesn't have the explosive speed that most NFL players have... look how slow he hits holes. in the NFL they'd be there and gone again by the time he got to them. Maybe I'm wrong though. If he gets a sub 4.5 at the combine, which I don't think will happen. it looks like he'll be getting 4.5-4.7 from what I've seen. But who knows, maybe he'll do decent in the 40. He's a FB or TE at best

People can say what they want. Sure, he is white. He does have average speed. However, I see someone, who lowers the BOOM on people. He is quick for his size. He is a faster, athletic version of Mike Alstott. I see an NFL RB. I know he is playing against PAC 10 defenses. Now, he does get props for running over USC. I would NOT be surprised to see him be a star in the NFL.

Toby is a beast of raw strength! He reminds me of Herschel Walker. He runs with 100% determination on every carry. As a former CB, I would to tackle this guy 30 times a game. By 3rd quarter the defense has got to be feeling exhausted. He's dragging DT's for crying out. I bleed trojan blood but this guy would be my first back if I owned a NFL team. Toby don't need speed as long as he's busting 5.4 yards a carry dog.

Gerhart is going to be a wrecking ball in the NFL. The man is built like Mike Alstott but faster, 4.5 40 speed. Thus do I think he is better than Ingram, I don't know but he's just as good. You put Gerhart behind the Alabama offensive line and he might have put better numbers than Ingram did against SEC defenses.

For comparison of quality, the Pac-10 sent more players to the Pro Bowl this year than the SEC. The ACC sent more players to the Pro Bowl this year than the SEC. The MAC sent more players to the Pro Bowl this year than the SEC. The University of Miami sent more players to the Pro Bowl this year than the SEC.

possibly his coach told him that if gerhart gets to him, don't risk dropping him at the 1 yard line as that would only delay the inevitable and burn up precious time to try to tie the game. another explanation is that after seeing the cornerback get run over, he knew it was pointless to try to stop him. most would try out of principle, but this guy didn't want to get trucked for nothing. although it would have been entertaining to see.

I was disappointed to see Mark Ingram win the heisman trophy because i really felt that Toby Gerhart was so deserving of it. However, it's really not a huge deal. Toby was awarded the Doak Walker Award(#1 running back in the nation) and had an amazing senior season. Stanford and Gerhart will now be focusing on playing Oklahoma in the Sun Bowl. I'll be excited to see that game and more of Toby Gerhart playing in the future.

I'm sorry, but are you normally this stupid? For one, to say that Gerhart relies on his O line and Ingram doesn't is just pure stupidity. Alabama has the biggest and arguably the best O line in the last 5 years and your boyfriend Ingram could barely put together a MEDIOCRE season. Two, there is no Stanford O line 15 yards past the line of scrimmage when Gerhart is breaking 3, 4, 5 tackles by defensive players (not 'some shit player') on USC, Oregon, Cal, and so on.

Toby Gerhart? Love to watch the guy work, but I'm left to wonder what Ingram would do with 62 more carries in a league whose top rush defense (Arizona State) ranks 18th nationally. When I watch Gerhart, visions of Tim Tebow playing tailback in the Pac 10 come to mind.

Ingram just won it, but here is info to compare both. Top to bottom, the Pac10 was a better conf stopping the run than the SEC. The avg rank of rush defense of the SEC schools is 56 & the avg rank of the Pac10 schools is 48. Removing both schools from their conf. & the Pac10 still has a better avg 61-46. Schedules - the avg rank rush def Ingram faced in 12 games was 66(didn't count Chattanooga D1AA). The avg Gerhart faced was 58. Statistically Gerhart faced better teams & put up better numbers.

Toby faced significantly harder rush defenses (avg. rank of 59.1) than Mark Ingram (avg. 66.6) and put up better stats. If anything, this means Toby would have put a wider gap between him and Ingram if he played in the SEC -- he might ACTUALLY have had 2000 yards and 30 touchdowns.

He reminds be of Steven Jackson from the Rams. Great power and underrated speed. The PAC-10 easily has the best collection of RB's this year, and Gerhart was able to separate from the rest.

All i know is he was the most consistent in every single game and he ran all over 3 teams that were ranked top 10 at one point. My final point is seeing that Gerhart won the nations best RB award if they give Ingram the Heisman they would be completely contradicting themselves.

Dont forget the fact that in his 311 rushing attempts this year he has 0 fumbles! You say he is too slow for the NFL??? He has a faster 40 time than Marion Barber. And how about this one "he only runs that well because of his O-line" ok well i guess throw Colts numbers out the window cause Texas has far superior talented guys than almost any team in the nation....Gerhart should by far be the Heisman winner!!! Oh and i hope my Chiefs draft him, need all the help they can get..lol

Toby Gerhart is the man! He deserves the Heisman trophy for sure. Not only is he an amazing running back, he is also an outstanding student and he plays with respect and integrity. He lets his football do the talking and he's not cocky or boastful like so many other players we see today. I have a lot of respect for Gerhart.
