@wiika57 Yus. Absolutely. However, most of the kids eating the school lunches are in programs that their parents sign up for because of low income. So many kids from poorer families would starve if not for school and the lunch program. I graduated in '04 and the school food already looks a lot worse than it used to. It's really disheartening.

my main problem with school lunch is that much of it is burnt and hard, unlike the pizza shown in this video which looks pretty well heated. There is also few "good" food, which runs out and instead nasty cheeseburgers are left over.

The food at my school is so disgusting that it's less painful to go hungry during lunch than it is to attempt to get the "food" they serve down your throat. I don't have time to eat breakfast either since school starts so early, so my only two meals are the after-school snack and the late dinner... I can't wait to get out of this shithole.

To put it in perspective, the quality of McDonalds' food is closer to that of The Capital Grille than our school's is to McDonalds.

Looked at our school's health textbook recently, in the "nutrition" section. It had two sentences about how marketing "might" influence their food choices.

I guess that's to be expected from a textbook manufacturer whose parent company also owns TV stations. (Pearson) Educators need to wake up quit being so naive.

@ed4wb Educators aren't naive, they are at the mercy and whims of administrators. Why are the administrators the bosses of the educators? Why are we paying educators and pilots such low salaries when we entrust our lives (Pilots) and our futures (educators). Now there's a riddle! As for the textbook, I find fallacies in our textbooks everyday...and I have a sneaking suspicion that THATS not naivety but calculated. At least people like you and me, as a matter of fact, are the future and curious!

Interesting story. One fact the Government and public always seem to miss is kids eat 1095 meals a year (365 x 3) if a kid eats breakfast and lunch at school each day school is in session this would be a total of 360 meals (180 days x 2 meals) So 735 meals the kids eat at home............... this is almost double what the kids eat at school, maybe Mom and Dad should take some personal freakin responsibility and practice good eating habits at HOME

It's time for meat, dairy, soda, and snacks to stop dumping their junk on kids for a quick buck, and give our future generations real, healthy foods.

Healthy foods are not only good for their bodies, but for their minds, healthy kids are more social and attentive in school.
