I picture a holy figure drifting from the skies and down to the earth with the good intention of bringing the light of the gods to the world, but the light is too bright and it burns the world away to ashes.
If you were to compare this to, say, just walking along the street, it would be like something catching your attention in a shop window and you would just have to stop and stare.
Its a real shame that incredibly powerful, deep, original music such as this does not usually get aired over the radio waves, instead of the constant-for-the-masses-over-produced-drivel regularly thrust upon us.
Hopkins really is in a league of his own in terms of creating a suspenseful otherworldly sound with his music. And I am always impressed with his fusion of acoustic and electronic sounds. Quite talented artist.
@driverv86 He got his first role as a music director in the latest film 'Monsters'. Jon Hopkins does indeed have an 'otherworldly' kind of music. Its amazing, I cant wait to watch that film! :O
Every once in a while, a piece of music comes along that simply blows me away. It happened eighteen months ago when I discovered Monday Paracetamol by Ulrich Schnauss. Now this track, by Jon Hopkins has done the same. Every time I play it, I feel the hairs on the back of my neck stand up! anybody else get this? I feel the music does indeed 'drift up' as it goes along, and as it comes to an end it gently drifts back down ........ a stunning piece that lingers in the mind..
@tmmitzzie glad someone else gets the feeling of the hairs on the back of the neck standing up! i get it every time. same with "a drifting down" as well.

Thumbs up if SomaFM got you into Hopkins. I still remember when I have first heard Cerulean ... /shivers. Luckily I grabbed all the discs on cdbaby.

@tmmitzzie Think positive: we have the privilege to know this artist. :) If it was more popular, maybe he would change his style. D:

@tmmitzzie I completely agree but if everyone listened to this amazing music it'd lose the incredible personal appeal.
