what this acomplishes is to let kids work towards something that actually gives them a real result. School for kids is a world of doing a lot of things that make no sense and give no palpable results. This kind of thing is very positive because after performing you actually see the fruits of your work and discipline and thus you get a glimpse of the way the real world works in adult life, unlike regular school which is pretty much useless IMO
I have seen and heard these wonderful kids twice now. They are absolutely fantastic. If you ever get the chance, go see and listen to them, you won't be disappointed, I promise.
It is different when you see them...rather transcendent! It's visually and aurally freeing. Take a look at the audience at one of their gigs, everybody keeps smiling ear to ear throughout the whole performance. This is a wonderful thing. Makes you think anything is possible in life. So kudos to everyone ever involved with the Leopards. I will always tell people about them. Keep on, keepin' on! 5*****'s
What an amazing group of talented kids. Inspirational. Wow! The Louisville Leopards are magical. It was neat to see Dan Dorff in action teaching the kids. Great stuff!
These kids are a joy to work with and they would love for you to come check out their Big Gig on March 2nd. Be looking in the Courier Journal for more information!
I just saw the documentary last night and I was amazed, this group sounds better than some high school ensembles, thank you Diane Downs for exposing these kids too great music and making them great percussionists and musicians, these kids will only grow into better players and go on to be huge assets to their high school drumlines and percussion ensembles as well as their music programs as a whole
I'm just across the river from Louisville and I had never heard of this group before catching the HBO special. These kids are phenomenal and Diane Downs is the best. Mix lots of hard work with lots of love and everything's possible.

Has Diane Downs won any Teaching Awards? She's amazing. I'm just in absolute awe of her and these kids.

My daughter is in this group. The kids have no formal musical training. It's Diane who enables them to be musicians.
