That shotgun comment drove me nuts "people don't want to die to it in one shot" yet sniper rifles in most games kill 1 hit at all ranges. Shotguns kill at short range only in one hit, if you died to a shotgun in close range that should be expected. This is why they underpower shotguns in games. Sniper rifles shouldn't kill at short range and shotguns should, that's it really.

In terms of game balance there's no reason a sniper rifle should 1 shot kill in short range if a shotgun can't even kill at mid range in one shot, hell in some games it takes 2 in close range an a sniper rifle? 1 shot is all you need which makes no sense game balance wise.

Of course a sniper rifle should have the means to kill at range in one shot, that's their job.

Make it so the scope needs a moment to focus or that it's just too inaccurate to shoot when not zoomed in so you literally never hit. There's ways to do it but it's sure make things more balanced that's for sure.
