Proper tobacco without the hundreds of chemicals and poisons put in when large companies produce it is mind blowingly less dangerous than your average over the counter pack of smokes. Pot, on a scale of drugs is alot less harmless. Rarely do you hear about people getting high and then going out and getting in a car accident or starting fights; they sit on the couch and eat poptarts (Generalization but true).
