Nice video!! thanks for posting it. i gotta make this at some time..
Also.. if any1 know a nice real japanese ramen recipe, would you please please please let me know? I've been searching so long but can't find it anywhere :(
I'm so happy that this series is here! I've been wanting to try out Japanese cooking and i didn't have any good cookbooks. This is helpful! Thank you! Now I actually have an excuse to go to the Japanese grocery store down the street from my house for something other than snack! ^^ Yay!
Your lucky you live near a Japanese store. I live in a small town in the UK. There isnt even a chinese supermarket within 50 miles. ~_~
I want to make Pickled Daikon, Teriyaki Tofu and so much more. But I havent a clue how to make them. Let alone get the ingredients. SO count yourself lucky ^_^ *Envious glare of doom*
I live in California. It's the single most diverse State in the US. I can't cook American style, SO if there weren't an Asian grocer nearby, I wouldn't ever cook.
I actually choose where I live based on the nearness of an Asian grocer. Tatoeba... I intend to move to Beaverton, OR because of the Japanese program at the Community College near there, they have the largest Japanese grocer in the entire State, & they are sister city to Gotemba, Japan! Heh. Is that weird?
I'm not sure which packets you are talking about but I'll tell you them. The first one I think she uses is tenkasu (tempura batter drippings). Then aonori (dried seaweed powder). Finally she uses a small individual serving packet of katsuoboshi (dried smoked bonito shavings). Bonito is also known as Skipjack. There's no substitute for this one. Buy some online.
Thanks for the response, and I was wondering about all of them XD. Going to make this for the family tommorrow, I had it before but never made it my self. So thanks to the both of you for these videos.
The recipe IS: 8 Cups Diced cabbage. Set aside. 3 Cups Flour 2 Cups Dashi (fish stock) 3/4 Cup Milk 1 cube beef bullion diluted with 2 Tbls. hot water 1 1/2 Tbls. Mirin (sugar sweetened sake..cook off the alcohol) 1 1/2 Cups Yamaimo (a glutunous starch like cornstarch MIGHT work...experiment) 2 large eggs 1/2 tsp. Salt 1/2 tsp. Baking powder 1 1/2 Tbls. Mayonnaise (more if you don't have yamaimo)
Could it be at all possible that you could post the instructions in your info I'm having a hard time understanding what to do
