Since 1984 I've seen the Bunnymen about 30 times. They have been the best band in the world but this gig was one of the worst I've seen them play. The songs were lifeless, the first set was pointless, the orchestra was useless. A total letdown. And when did Bunnymen fans become dancing homos? Oh the shame!!! Will is a genius and Macs still got the swagger but this wasnt the Bunnymen and hasnt been for a long time. Bring back Electrafixion.
They were the greatest band ever but I just dont think this current line up is anywhere near as good as the Bunnymen should be. Perhaps I'm just too judgemental but I'm surprised Mac and Will were happy to churn out a perfomance that was so below par when you consider how fantastic they should be. Mind you, I stand by the comment about the dancing homos! I cant believe the amount of old fat bald gay men dancing as if they were watching Erasure for fucks sake!!!!
The next set of gigs should be better. Crocodiles and Heaven Up Here in their entirity. Better venues and none of the poncing about with the orchestra.
Look it up and keep your fingers crossed... It might actually be good.
Finally.... Homophobic? Me? ........ if only you knew!
'there too ,i was a bit scared before the show about Ian but he still the voice, very good show, fan since 1982 never seen them before ,shame ...English you rock.merci
Tip: Never ever see a band in London. Fag Crowd, the worst ive ever been in. It was all designer glasses and posing. I wish id got tickets for Liverpool instead. bunnies were good tho.
oh my god - - i'd have given anything to be there!!! ian sounds fantastic. drummer still not remotely close to pete's hard pounding brilliance but that's ok.. hard to compete with the best....if only i could find SOMEONE to see them in NYC with me...been trying for months...arghhhhhh
I was there last night and I have to say the the first set was really lacking, but through no fault of the band. That venue just sucked the energy from the stage, that and a load of fat bald cunts thinking they were at an Oasis gig and saying "fuck off scousers" between every song,Pricks!.
Having said all that when the band returned for the main event it was really something special and the orchestra were great.
I was there, too, but loved every single second of the show. It was EPIC. The second half was better than the first...but there was nothing disappointing about the event at all! Brilliant!
