  • You play this masterfully. And this song is awesome.

  • 375 años de nacido en 2012 dice JORGE ALBERTO BARON desde Bogotá, Colombia, Suramérica. Aniversarios Grandes Compositores 2012. Dieterich Buxtehude. 375 años de nacido en 2012. Nació en 1637. Favor escuchar toda su música en 2012.

  • My god, didn't expected so much people to come here listen it after reading Demian! Seems I am not the only one, nice music by the way, seems hard as hell to play

  • @Namaste33

Namaste! Buxtehude was a great composer and a turning point in North German organ music. He was the first to really develop the pedal technique. The Passacaglia is wonderful, genial music. Its unique substantive source is "Andreas Bach Buch", a keyboard manuscript album compiled by J. S. Bach's elder brother, Johann Christoph, who copied it.Of all the entries in ABB, the Passacaglia is the most difficult to read. Thanks God it was passed down to us...

  • @Namaste33 Dietrich had no intentions of his music being easy to play.

  • Der Vogel kämpft sich aus dem Ei. Das Ei ist die Welt. Wer geboren werden will, muß eine Welt zerstören.

  • @tigerkillslion

    Vogel als Prophet...

  • @tigerkillslion

"Der Vogel Fliegt zu Gott. Der Gott heisst Abraxas."

  • I am also here because of "Demian". Thanks for uploading, organist.

  • @enyawly

You are welcome. Say something of your feelings when listening to the music... Would you?

  • I enjoyed this a lot. Thank you!

  • @tenshinakis

You have good taste! The Passacaglia is gorgeous.

  • The beginning reminded me very much of Bach's Passacaglia!

  • @DaveMoustache

This is due probably to the pedal part. The Passacaglia is one of the three "ostinati" composed by Dieterich Buxtehude, the other two being the ciaccone BuxWV 159 e BuxWV 160.

  • @GilbertoGuarino Is that pedal part typical for the passacaglia form? I have only heard Bach's, Händel's and this one (that I know of), and they kind of have the same progression in the bass. I don't really know much music theory, but I definately new to check out some more Buxtehude :)

  • @DaveMoustache

This kind of "ostinato" pedal part is typical of an organ passacaglia and ciaccona (Buxtehude composed two ciaccone: BuxWV 159 - id C minor - and BuxWV 160 - in E minor; and one passacaglia: Bux WV 161 - in D minor).

  • Complimenti! Gran bella esecuzione. Pezzo stupendo!

  • @gbshoes

Grazie mille. È davvero un brano geniale. Capolavoro.

  • Came here because of "Demian" by Hermann Hesse, thoroughly impressed.

  • @HappyHumanism

Oh, I see... Pistorius, the rector who is an organist...

    Thank you for your comment.

  • @HappyHumanism

Its nice to know there are Herman Hesse fans about and that we are united by him and Buxtehud's music! He would be happy to know this!

  • My god your hands look tense....makes mine hurt just from watching! No need to use so much weight, especially on an electronic!

  • @UNCSAOrgan

Do they?... But they were not...

  • Parabéns meu amigo!!!

    Helio & Lucia

  • Ahhh!!!!!!!! Buxtehude always takes my mind somewhere else.Impossible to use words to describe your interpretarion, Mr.Guarino.They would not even come close to expressing it full beauty. Congratulations

  • Beautifully played!

    What organ is that?

  • Thank you very much!

This is music of the highest inspiration...

Buxtehude was a genius, and definitely he KNEW how to write music.

    What a gorgeous Artist!...

Well... if you keep in mind that Bach walked all his way from Arnstadt up to Lübeck to meet the danish master, and considering that the former already knew the latter's music ("Hans Andreas Bach Buch" and the "Weimarer Orgeltabulatur"), you have a clue to what a musician was Buxtehude...

  • @GilbertoGuarino

Which type of organ are you playing? Johannus?

  • Absolutely. It is a Johannus
