I like the video and was wondering should I get this cam? I'm only 12 so I don't need it to be "professional." All I will really use it for is trampoline backflips in slowmotion and stupid stuff like that. Lol
As it turns out, this camera was specifically designed for slow motion trampoline jumps. There is no other camera out there that can perform this task.
Haven't used WMM before but i would be guessing that it can't handle anything bigger than 480p or you haven't tweaked the output settings ( if it even has any ) to export as 1920x1080.
Sony Vegas and the Mac video editors are excellent programs for this type of result.
I just bought this camera, it does record in slow mo, but loses the pristine quality in lower light, however it is still cool as hell! No Night vision, but i guess you could record a golf swing using this if you do it fast, its kind of tricky with the 3 second only thing.... great HD camcorder though.
So how do HD cameras work? Do you have to have a certain cable to upload the video onto the computer? Or could you just use the standard one and record off 1920x1080? My camera gets here on monday or tuesday and I would like to know how to use it before I mess it up :)
You just copy the files across using a USB cable. The camera should just show up like an external drive. You can then use programs like Premiere Pro / Sony Vegas / Cinelerra / Kino / Windows Movie Maker etc... to edit the footage to your liking.
However, iv you like doing old school linear editing, you can use the half moon adapter to transfer the footage straight to DVD. But i wouldn't recommend that given that you will waste all of that beautiful HD footage.
I shot it in Full high def ( 1920x1080 ). So i didn't convert it at all.
But, programs like Cinelerra/ Sony Vegas/ Adobe premiere Pro are all capable of converting smaller RES stuff into 1080p. Although i wouldn't recommend it.
Yeah, AVCHD utilizes the MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 (AVC) video compression codec/container, & as far as i can tell, the CX-100 shoots interlaced video. So to be fair, i would say this is shot in 1080i. But it still maintains the 1920x1080 square pixel ratio.
AVC is a real pain, i hate it. It's just another proprietary format that hinders progress. After i pulled this from the camera i probably exported it in CS4 Premiere Pro, that would have stripped the AVC and Utube would have encoded it from there.

does it not have sound when its in slow mo?
JackCapers 2 years ago
No, it stretches 3 seconds over about 10. Any sound would be distorted anyways.
benjocharlie 2 years ago
@benjocharlie Thanks man, I was hopin it would have the slow motion sound to go with it, but I guess you cant have everything.

I don't really know, just a lot of light i guess. Would love to do some more experimenting with this setting though.
Are you talking about your forest footage? Might just be a little too dark. Your stuff looks great.
benjocharlie 2 years ago
okay sweet ill have to try it. btw you can make it even slower if you put it in the editor(like move maker) and use the slow down effect
