When the holder throws the ball over his shoulder his knee is down, why isn't the ball dead?

In college the ball is dead if the ball carrier is down on a knee, isn't he?

As much as I like the play, I think the officials made a mistake here...

@UW72 I want to say there's a clause in the rule for the holder. Mostly because of what happens if there's a bad snap and the holder decides to try to run, even though he first had the ball with his knee down. I'm not 100% sure, but I think that has something to do with it.

dude that was awesome. im a usc fan and i yelled into a pillow and turned the t.v. off after it. but now i realize i shouldnt be mad we lost, lsu is way better. the only thing that really pissed me off in that game (besides this) was that e. cook had a PERFECT int for a touchdown, but dropped the ball. A bunch of coaches lobbied the NCAA to make an exception about the knee down rule when kicking. They did this just so they can do fake FG's. I think that as long as the kicker is in a position to kick the ball its ok. Either that or its ok as long as the knee doesn't come up and then go back down.
