The local upscale shopping center asked the police to bring one of these out for a week or two after some old lady got robbed in the parking lot. It enables one officer to watch a much larger area. They were worried that news of the robbery would discourage business. It made the shoppers feel more secure. A couple weeks later, it was gone. Most people are in favor of increased security ... if they're not paranoid. ;-)

i sell a fence system that can surround a parking lot like this in a matter of an hour or less and take alot of force applied to it to provide instant protection. it pains me to assume this fence can be used in conjunction with these towers to make an instant camp.

They may be using it in the higher crime areas? Cops are loosing there jobs everywhere, this is the future of policing, its cheaper and gives people the perception that someone is watching. Some of us "are" the enemy, robberies and rapes going on in these parking lots. Small towns have 5 cops, this is a way to show more police presence. I not against this 100% for certain areas. Businesses have dozens of cameras too, does that bother anyone? It prevents false lawsuits, id robbers etc..

Best way to target Target, Walmart and corporations that don't give a damn about our liberties and privacy is to boycott them altogether and tell others to do the same. I only shop at mom and pop stores now. I avoid all shopping mall areas and giant corporations. When they see that customers are turned off, then they will eventually be forced to listen!

The local upscale shopping center asked the police to bring one of these out for a week or two after some old lady got robbed in the parking lot. It enables one officer to watch a much larger area. They were worried that news of the robbery would discourage business. It made the shoppers feel more secure. A couple weeks later, it was gone. Most people are in favor of increased security ... if they're not paranoid. ;-)
