Ah i love Shave Ice. But i live on the mainland currently, but whenever i see a truck that says "Hawaiian Shaved Ice" I get excited. But then i read it again & see "shaved". Then i get disappointed Haha. I can't wait to taste Hawaiian Shave Ice again.

Cause it's not a snow cone!! it's shaved ice, and the syrup soaks in and actually holds the ice together, at least that's my explanation.

here's how you tell locals from tourists from haoles in HI.

locals- call it shave ice

tourists- call it shaved ice

haoles- call it a snow cone.

of course, this only works at matsumoto's and other shave ice places, but it is pretty accurate!
