Well, most coal trains these days run between 120 and 125 cars. Those cars weigh in at 143 tons each when loaded, so you're looking at between 17,000 and 18,000 tons and around 7500 feet in length. It looked like it had four locomotives, although I couldn't quite see the other end. Each locomotive has 4300 horsepower, and the pair at the back of the train are controlled by the engineer from the leading engine at the front by UHF radio signals.
