  • They were a great talent just getting their real start, and then sadness struck, glad through that the band rebuilt, ( you know what I mean) but they were so great, I'll never forget exactly where and when I was in MS where I was when the plane went down, and devestated, to say the least,

  • This is an open question. What should Americans call a redneck who lives in the North, like Northern Minnesota or the UP of Michigan? Sledneck, Bluebilly? We do more snowmobiling than mudding up here.

  • GAGA is a dike ass guy.. has no clue and dont need one. Old lynyrd is ,uhhh, orgasmic!!!!

  • I have listened to a whole lot of rock music down through my life. Can any truthful person really dispute the fact that the old Lynyrd Skynyrd was probably one of the top 3 rock bands of the last century?

  • Seen them 10 times since 76 - THey are Americas band for sure. Alan and Steve were two of the best pure guitarists I ever saw. Alan was crazy but gifted.

  • My 2 favorite Skynyrd tunes......

  • to my best friend micheal baily, miss you man, its been 33yrs and skynyrd is still #1

  • if i keep this up i will be taking a road trip back to cortez fla,1970s and looking for all my 8 tracks i left there. and maybe some bud

  • Mighty Fine video! The Knebby is the best concerts period! Thanks for uploadingRonnie and the boys.I still got my Street Survivors LP with the flames on it. Got some southern rockers for friends too.Check out Mezcaleros Channel, and the Old Skins Band. They are up and coming southern rockers with their own material.CD has been released.ROCK ON!!!!

  • Some people aren't worth responding to on here! Barry Manilow! There is no comparison! lol!

  • ok ,I grant you that . How about a real artist such as the great barry manilow ? imagine had he showed up and kicked ronnie off the stage and started the long version of mandy ? The crowd would go wild !!!!

  • @forestroot dude, you're rediculous!. lol get real buddy!

  • @forestroot Not THAT crowd, dude! ol "Mandy" would be lucky to get out of there with his life. LOL!

  • lady gaga .give me a fuckin break...

  • @wolfie12 GAGA's a COMPLETE rip-off artist (Madonna, Gwen S, Dale Bzzio of "Missing Persons", and even Patti LaBelle, to name just a few. Kid's nowadays are just to young to remember all that, so it's all "new" to them! Poor bastards...

  • they are shit compared to a real artist such as THE LADY GA GA !!!!!

  • @forestroot i cant stop laughing...ha ha ha...

  • @forestroot Why would you even say that, so you like ga ga enjoy it but we know who the real artist is its spelled RONNIE VAN ZANT, LYNYRD SKYNYRD.

  • This show was the film that opened for the movie Grease in ,..what,...'77? I saw it in Clemson, SC. I live in Greenville and as I type I am 2 miles from where Ronnie, Steve, Cassie and a pilot last stepped foot when they boarded the plane after the Greenville show (their last as that lineup)

. I think we closed school that day,...wow.

  • I was in jr.high in stl. when I heard the plane went down, Charlie Daniels sung about it,it was my saddest day ever, had just bought one more from the road, and was playin for everybody when I heard the news.why r all the greats cut down so early? it baffles me...but years later the music still blows away the new stuff!! always will in my book.

  • R.I.P. Ronnie - Southern Rock lost a king in 1977 when your plane went down-God Rest You.

  • I saw them in '76 in Philadelphia. They absolutely slayed. This band played with The Who and The Rolling Stones, and blew them both off the stage. What other band can say that?

  • true southern fried rock and roll, thank you from rutherford co nc

  • let me one to say this but....WHO ARE THE ONES WHO DISLIKED THIS....if they had a brain at all they'd come back and redo what they've done

  • @ fender7375 Saw shows at Funnochio's on many occasions, and I cannot remember a single fight ever breaking out. The place was kind of seedy, reminiscent of clubs of that era. Listening to them playing Simple Man was something special.

  • A long time ago I had to make a decision whether to buy Led Zeppilin's The Song Remains The Same or Lynyrd Skynyrd's One More From The Road album. I choose to go with Skynyrd and I haven't looked back since that day. Long Live Lynyrd Skynyrd and may they rock on forever.

God Rest Their Souls and God Bless Their Families.

  • @TheflyingL Good point ... I think it makes for a great sound too !

  • i was born less than 35 miles from where they all grew up n enjoyed watching them grow thru the 60's n 70's was really tore up when there plane went down like all of us were here in northeast florida Greates Band Ever

  • Brilliant, just brilliant. Wish I could have been there. Southern rocks!!!

  • i wish i was born in 1960

  • @SuperBrandon37 Yeah, but if you were born in 1960, you'd be old now . . . and you would've been in your 20s when the musically awful '80s existed.

  • @gmartinz01 Well, I was born in 1960 and I'd rather be "old" and have experienced REAL rock and roll like Skynyrd than young and growing up with the shit music generations after me did. These pussies today all worship corporate rock like American Midol and Dancing with the Queers. Gimme a fuckin' break!

  • @RELubber Born in 1963 and I couldn't agree with you more!

  • @RELubber only pussies listen to rock to make themselves feel better, to be more of a "man". Sorry I know how big my dick is and I'll listen to music I like, not music I feel like I should listen to be liked.

  • @TehOwnererOfET Well, here we go...a fan of American Midol and Dancing with the Queers. Pussy generation personified.

  • @RELubber Yeah I bet I'm a pussy just cause I don't listen to your shitty ass rock. But if it makes you feel better I also don't watch the Idol or the dancing show. Who watches TV these days anyways, old people - like you. I'm sorry you don't like that the times are changing. Your music genre is dead, mine is growing and evolving every single day. I'd have to kill myself to be forced to listen to all the same rock shit over and over again.

  • @TehOwnererOfET If you HATE my generation and our music SO MUCH, WTF are you here for ? I wouldn't go near the shitty ass crap you losers put out today.

As you must've listened to this song, I assume you're ready to do the world a favor and kill yourself. Don't let me hold you up. Proceed.

  • @RELubber Seeing as you brought up the idea of death, you should spend more time with your family and not on youtube. I mean you get so angry over a single comment that you might stroke any second now. You should spend more time with them b4 you decompose.

Its funny how music, one of the biggest aspects of the human culture, drives you so angry. You should really try to calm down and let your bitch give you head.

Once you do that you can move on and listen to some real music.

    Good luck

  • @TehOwnererOfET Still didn't answer the question, pussy. If you hate this kind of music, why the fuck come here and post ? I don't give a fuck enough about your generation's shit music to waste my time listening to it, much less watch it on YT. So WHY come here? Becuz you're a worthless piece of shit without anything else to do on a Saturday night? Yeah, that must be it.

Fuck you and your good luck. Go back to whacking off to Justin whatever the fuck his name is.

  • @RELubber I come here to feed off the rage of your old ass. Who cares how I got here? I bet listening to rock and calling people on the internet makes you feel bad ass? Nope, you're still the same pussy ass nerd you were when you were young. Now you are old and you see how pathetic your life is. So you have to lash out on random videos to make yourself feel better. The reality is your life has come to an end. Enjoy whats left of it and dont waste time sitting on the internet.

  • @TehOwnererOfET You come here cuz you're a 25 yr old loser with nothing better to do, that's why.

You got a lot of anger, pussy. Your YT page is loaded with people who hate you. No wonder.

  • @RELubber Took you a while to respond old man. I'm sure you know I'm a loser, mr. Magician. You should go rant and lash out on the internet some more because your life is so desperate. It's quite sad really. Go hug your wife and children before you lash out again and get a heart attack. It's bound to happen, any day now.

  • @TehOwnererOfET Old man? I'd kick your ass and so wouldn't my sons---one who's 3 yrs younger than you.

I have a life and don't live here 24/7 like you obviously do. What a loser you are.

  • @RELubber I bet you would sprain a muscle the second you try to hit me old faggot. I love how you assume and seem to know everything about me. I guess when your old and can't come up with any real comebacks you gotta resort to imagination. You got Alzheimers mate? Something aint workin down there.

  • @RELubber dude hes some 12 year old that doesn't know shit. Skynyrd is great music if hes too dumb to know that then his loss

  • @RELubber I'm with you Class of '78!

  • @RELubber PHISH

  • @Jesjampat Fuck yeah I love Phish.. and Skynyrd. If the orignal Skynyrd was alive today Phish would totally jame out with them. Fucking plane crash.

  • @RELubber I was born in 1995, I have to agree with you. I hate my fucking generation. I wish all these fucking queers and niggers would shut the fuck up. I hate the music today. I love Skynyrd

  • @zombiek23 Bunch of fuckin emo pussy faggots and jungle bunny gum flappin rapers aint it? Fuck todays music man, there's plenty of solid gold classic rock that'll never die out! Keep it classic.

  • @RELubber I think Ronnie would frown upon your comment...times change and music changes with it. Get over it.

  • @konradamusic You "think"? Have you contacted him through a seance or something? STFU, tool.

  • @RELubber Seriously? Is that the best you can come up with? Tool? Clearly, you know nothing about rock. Wrong genre, TOOL.

  • @konradamusic You got me. Clearly, by having "music" in your user, your expertise in showing how today's music is VASTLY superior to that of my generation shows.

I guess Coldplay makes the boys from Jax sound like Justin Beehive, eh?

  • @RELubber That's pretty closed minded.

  • @RELubber Not saying I don't agree with 85% of your post, but you're really putting yourself into a lame category of folk who think "everything written after they went to high school is crap music". Sound about right? ;-)

  • @Nitrousoxide2k Not at all, dickless. IG've been around enough to what's good music and what isn't.

  • this is awesome band..always will be.love ronnie ans allen both...was only 13 when the plane crashed...always thought i would marry allen collins when i got older..lol.boy he sure can play.love him still.there the best.they rock.the new ls sucks .rip allen rip ronnie ur the best.

  • @bmf276 Oh ya, Did you ever listen to Rossington Collins band. It's No skynyrd but it was a good band when the remaining members reunited.

  • In their Prime!!! Awesome!

  • james00779, your an absolute prick, Im so envious, just joking mate good on ya bet you still dream about it every now and then, and the best bit is you get ta tell ya kids you were there, how many other bands played coz theres heaps of LS at knebworth on here, was it like woodstock with heaps of other acts on ?

  • fuckin kick arse r & b, grouse stuff,love it

  • Saw them at Blossom Music Center last summer.....They opened with these 2 songs......High energy show.....Rickey Medlocke and Gary Rossington had a balls to the wall guitar war on that stage that night.....When it was over, they walked off arms around each other smiling, waving at the crowd.....The fans were the winners of the war !!!

  • LIVING AND GROWING UP IN 70S NICE,,,,I MUST SAY,,, BEEN THERE DONE THAT,,,,AND WON THE WARDROBE ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

  • Saw these guys at the famous Funnochio's in Atlanta. One damn dollar admission, thank you very much. A truly outstanding band and sadly missed.

  • @48mwl That had to be awesome ... was that place as rough as they say it was?

  • This is the shit man !! snoopydogghouse.....You don't what you missed man, These guys were my very 1st concert....

  • man fuck my generation why couldnt i have lived in the 70's

  • And Ronnie walking around barefoot as usual, said he did it to "feel" the music better. Rest in peace my friends.

  • The Skynyrd of today is NOT the Skynyrd of yesterday. Nothing but a cover band...

  • Triple Guitars Kick Ass All Day All Night Keyboards Vocals Hell The Whole Band Slamming Rock Hard Lynyrd Skynyrd Kick Ass Rock Hard Thank's 4 Posting This Song 9258tony.

  • OMG - 2 People Listened to this Their Brains Melted and Pressed The Wrong Button

  • I saw Skynyrd play this at my first concert and the band inspired me to play and sing rock & roll for life. Rock forever, Mark Wolf

  • so glad i got to see them twice before the plane crash, rip guys!!!!! still missing you!!!!! and still feeling the shock of that dreadful day!!! had to throw out my 8 track with the flames behind them and buy a new one.

  • so glad i got to see them twice before the plane crash, rip guys!!!!! still missing you!!!!! and still feeling the shock of that dreadful day!!!

  • Gimme a whistle!

  • I love the bass line!

  • i would of loved to see them before the crash, they may be gone but their southern rock will be kickin ass for many more years to come

  • This was the first gig I ever attended. LS came on around 5.00 and they blew every other band off the stage. '76 was a very hot summer and it was boiling that day. Absolutely brilliant gig and I will never forget it. Hot Tuna were great too btw.

  • It was freakin unbelievable having three guitarists of that magnitude in the same great band... Steve Gaines, Allen Collins & Gary Rossington!!

  • 33 years ago today a plane crash took our friends away, in the meantime a few more have slipped away. Two still remain and Lynyrd Skynyrd will NEVER fade away!

RIP Ronnie Van Zant, Steve Gaines, Cassie Gaines, Allen Collins, Leon Wilkeson, and Billy Powell.

Thank you for the Amazing music you left behind. And to answer your question... Yes, we will and do remember you!!

  • RIP Skynyrd!

  • I don't care for all that rebel flag and redneck crap, but i have always considered van zant to be one the best songwriters ever in rock n roll.He was a true southern poet, and could write lyrics to songs with the best of them.

  • *giggle* @ yankee slicker

  • Amazing show. It's hard to believe that 5 of the 7 guys on stage are no longer with us. It's also pretty wild to think that those three buys are playing what today would be, on a bad day, $500,000 worth of vintage guitars.:-o

  • collins-rossington-van zant-YES SUH

  • oh yeah are you kidden me that was f...en cool the life were in will never see the likes of them again god bless southern rock ........;

  • Southern Rock-N-Roll at its Finest!!!!

  • it's great to see this video, ronnie and the boy's live on!!

this was one great rock and roll band!!!!!!

  • seriously, this looks a bit like the soundtrack of "One more from the Road" edited on to the footage. I just know that double album by heart as i learnt all the solos from it a used to jam to it for pretty much every day between the age of 14 - 17. No doubt about the soundtrack, unless of course these images were taken from the live recording.

  • @azharkamal This is Skynyrd playing Knebworth in England opening for The Rolling Stones. Some of this concert was recorded and released on One More From The Road which was sadly one of the only two albums they released with Steve Gaines before the plane crash, and the only live album of the classic Skynyrd line up.

  • @ConspiracyGuy1 One More From the Road was recorded at the Fox Theater in Atlanta.

  • @beatmastert MY bad, you're correct.

  • King of Southern Rock! RIP....

  • They say Ronnie ruled the band with a steel fist, literally. Whatever it was it was magic.

  • Guitars everywhere, played by artists that knew how to use them...just love the old school rock!

  • One of the hardest working bands to ever sign a contract. If you ever had the pleasure of attending one of their shows, even before they were well known, they would play for hours....literally some shows the venue or promoter would have to turn on the house lights before they would quit playing....only the original Allman Brothers could match their endurance on stage.

  • skynyrd will rise again

  • @loyota345 God i wish they could, but gary's all thats left so how can they rise. Kids are on a different level they dont appreciate this and i really dont think they can. This is from a different era that only them that were there will know what i am talking about.

  • @Stanoah1 I disagree completely. I, like many of my other friends (being 16/17) indulge in the greatness of bands like this. New music doesnt have the feeling to it and almost no meaning. :) Think before you say.

  • this is the definition of genuine american rock and roll, there will never be another band that will ever come close to touching this band.....

  • i named my band 'Southern grin' used from the lyric in workin for the mca

  • My very first concert.......Summer of '77.

  • 7 years o hard luck , commin down on me...from the Florida border Yeah, from Nashville Tennessee...I worked every joint you can name , every honky tonk...Along comes Mr. Yankee slicker sayin maybe you what I want... Shoulda signed the contract , shoulda signed today...gimme lots o' money...Workin for MCA...

The Best Band of All Times...Now and forever more...

  • My sisters and a good many other people have told me about Ronnie and the band having a big party at a hotel in town.I told my sister he died she past out. I said over a band? she said he was my friend. We partied together every time he came to Rome.GA The last time they came they went to a biker club after the concert. So I still missed it again.

  • DAMN. I wish I was alive to see this band play together! One of my favorite bands, It's a crime it took so long for them to get into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

  • Saw Skynrd at Soilder Field field summer of 76 super bowl of rock with Nugent, REO 38 special

and I forget who else But SKYNRD stold the show What a great year to be 16 the all time best music in my humble opinion came out of the 70's When that plane wrecked I felt like I lost friends

    not just musicans

  • @joethepainter90 on the day their plane went down the world stood still. I still have a ticket to the show they was flying to in St. Louis at the Fox theater. the show never happened and alls I have to show for it is the ticket...

  • I was there for this, went really to see the stones, but came away a huge LS fan

  • @denwyn

That's way cool, witnessing history in the making. From the footage, I can tell it was awesome to have been there.

  • Some of the best truly American rock and roll ! I feel sorry for the Stones having to follow Skynyrd ! The crowd was totally with them !

  • Where can I get a copy of this entire concert? I searched Amazon and came up blank. I heard they were supposed to release "Lynyrd Skynyrd the Movie" a few years back, but as far as I know they never did. Can anyone help me out?

  • @58fireflite Its called Freebird the movie. i got a copy. i got it for 9.99 but now its 40 bucks on ebay.

  • @shadowgunsxfrompaper i got it for like 15 on amazon

  • goddamnit what a great fucking band!!!!!

  • fuck the rolling stones these guys stole the show

  • thie footage is the first time i ever saw skynyrd playing live... i remember my dad bought a vhs tape of freebird the move i still have it... i am only 19 years old and i am a huge skynyrd fan and always will be! new music sucks... these were the good ol' days!

  • @skynyrdguitar7 Me too man! im 18 and i pretty much idolize these guys....i really love my dad for introducing skynyrd to me when i was like 5 ...lol i knew every song they played by heart before i ever saw them play live haha

    skynryd= greatest band ever!

  • Saw them in Memphis ; July 3, 1976

  • i'm 12 and would cut off my walk on searing coal to c them pre crash

  • 20/10-1977" R.I.P.

  • Im 14 and seen Skynyrd 3 times already but would give em all up to see 1 song pre plane crash

  • I'm 41, and I would crawl through broken glass if I could see the pre-crash band live! I guess I COULD have seen them... but I was 8 or 9 or something.

  • @Martiluk1 ...if your 14 then you have NEVER seen the real Skynyrd. What you have seen is an imitation group that goes by the same name. The REAL group stopped touring here on earth on 10/20/1977.

  • @bigdogdad59 That is why Martiluk1 said he would give up all the times he has seen them now for one song before 10-20-1977.

  • @hankjrfan3 .....Right on.....to you and MARTLUK1 my apologies. I miss read the post. Thanks for correcting me.

  • @Martiluk1 Yes!!! 14 and great taste.

  • @Martiluk1 I have never seen them and want to so bad! Im 21, and yes Skynrd is the shit!

  • @Martiluk1

I had the very good fortune to be at this fes in 1976 Knebbworth u.k. Something I will never Forget. It was all you thought it would be, you can take my word on that.

    James.

  • @Martiluk1 dude, i'm 20 and i've been followin this band since i was 8.. trust me i'm in the same fuckin boat you are man!

  • @Martiluk1 Good taste, man!!

  • Comment removed
