You can't get food out there because you'd fall through the ice. It's not thick enough to walk out to where it's open water.

It's really sad, but it happens every year. Sometimes nature seems cruel. It might still work out for them if the winds change and move the ice.

Dolphins can go weeks without eating because of their fat, so can humans! And we don't get trapped in ice nearly as much! I'm tired of people thinking dolphins are so much better. They are great, but they aren't better than us!
