LOL, no... Actually it's a cheap chinese "Redwood" telecaster model. Ordered it from Musik Schmidt for 110 Euro I think. Only original parts on it are the body and the neck though, so it's kind of custom...
@noakwesterberg Love that Rivera. From Musik Schmidt? So you're in Germany? Do you know if it's possible to get an ENGL or Hughes & Kettner at good prices seeing as they are made there or are they still unaffordable?
Wow, I just got through putting mine through the paces. The 'clean' channel can be very tastefully driven, as you so aptly demonstrated. I bought it mainly for the articulate drive side, but find myself playing the clean side driven more. It's delicious. Have you tried it with a compressor pedal for a little more sustain? I have an older CS-2 I have been driving into it and it doesn't seem to like it much. Keep tearin' it up, very nice technique you have.
Thanks again! Yes, I always use a compressor. I have a T-rex Comp-Nova that works great for Telecaster work on the "clean" channel. This also gives a little more sustain with a little less breakup which clears up the sound >>> ideal sound :)
I have a knucklehead tre and i have to say rivera makes some the most versatile high gain heads on the market. my knnucklehead's clean is better than most of the fenders ive heard and the overdrive is friggen beefy! i run it with a boss super overdrive, a bbe sonic maximizer, and a decimator noise gate and its definitely one of the best metal/ lead tones ive ever heard. tons of low end a must-try. although i shouldve held out for a mick thompson head, theyre like a knucklehead tre on crack!
i personally own a marshall 1960a celesion g12-75s but thats in different state from where i live now, but im using my roommates old peavey cab from the 80's right now, which to be honest cant handle the low end on the k-tre. but im in the market for a 2x12 either carvin leagacy or mesa standard. but i havent decided on my speaker choice yet, its a toss up between vintage 30's or greenbacks, or possibly combo of the two. its a really tough decision!
I am also in the same situation as you're with searching for the perfect speaker that can handle the low end, and Gain of the K Tre head. But if you're wanting to get a 2x12 cabinet for around $350 brand new and around $450 for a 4x12 cabinet. I would look into Avatar cabinets because I bought one and they will put almost any Eminence or Celestion speaker that you want in the cabinet with your custom tolex color and grille cloth and basically anything you want on the cab.
Also don't get a Mesa over sized cabinet for your K Tre because I used to own one and in really makes the amp sound worse. So look into a regular size cabinet for the head. And I called Rivera and talked to a guy named Rich and he said that the K TRE was amp was based off the g12-t75's but I also watched the interview with Mick Thompson about his amp and cabinets and he was saying that the g12-t75's couldn't handle the low and on his amp, so I figure I will try his speakers out the g12k-100's
i heard something about the mick thompson speakers, do you know how their voiced or the power handling of those. if theyre made specifically for his rivera i would probably be best off with those.
Um I looked at the Celestion website and they're rated at 100 watts per speaker at I think like 102 dbs. But I know that they're are the same speaker in his cabinets that he uses, but Rivera calls them the Seven speakers probably for marketing his cabinet, but the celestion website says that Mick Thompson uses the g12k-100 speakers. Also the guy Rich said that they can handle the low end and gain on the K Tre with ease but he said if you play in standard they will sound very bright.
So that is what I going to do is buy a Avatar 2x12 cab loaded with the g12k-100's for like $350 brand new with my choice of tolex color and grille cloth. So I figured I will save my self the $1200 if I was to buy the Mick Thompson cabinet that would be loaded with the same speakers because a 2x12 is plenty load for practicing or giging. But I wonder if Avatar sells these speaker's already broken in like there Hellatone 60's which is a Vintage 30 broken in with 15 plus hrs on it.
there are so many shiet guitarists out here that are told that their great....even though complements cloud things up, you deserve some! great play and im getting that same 50s srat as well!!!! cheereeoh well.........hwatever
Bought it used in a shop in Sweden, got a good deal think I paid 9600 SEK for it, that would be 1000 Euro or $1400. That's a good price here, bet it's cheaper in the US though.
no pedals?
kinda sounded like a fuzz at the end there...

@wrona003 No fuzz, just the the "clean" channel pushed to pre amp OD.

Ahh, I just love this bit of your playing. And those Riveras are really nice, they are like the Buick Grand Nationals of amplifiers.

Tasty tone! It's amazing that the amp can get bone crushing distortion and yet also get such sweet clean and mild overdriven tones.
dobrien66 4 years ago
Thanks! Yeah, the amp is quite versatile, it can do pretty much anything.
