How old are they when they start to walk?

my mother hammie kept her babies on the lower level of the cage in a nest, and periodically run around gathering them up when they wandered off, she would grab each one in her mouth, rear her head back and spit-fling them through the air to land back into the nest one by one, it looked like a cage match free for all, when she had them all safe in the nest and not wandering she would then go up to her house on the second floor loft and chill for a while. Motherhood is hard work.

Unfortunately the little one died from his wounds, we gave him to our cousin when it was still wounded and they decided to let it sit there, the other one i think is dead too.. im not too sure because he gave one to his friend..

@luxraythekiller Actually, only Syrian hamsters have to be seperated. Dwarf hamsters SHOULD be kept together in a cage! And actually it is better to keep Dwarf hamsters of the same sex together because if you have different genders then they will mate during night time.

@luxraythekiller Sorry to hear about your hamster. That's like what happened to one of my baby Syrian's, I went to check on her and she was just laying there. She had food and water, she was soaking all over though and there was a strange wheezy noise coming from her. We thought that she might have choked on her wool, now we only buy shredded bedding.

@sinh1992 Hamsters SHOULD walk about when there eyes are sealed. It helps them get to know their cage a bit better by smelling it, just in case it rolls out of it's nest and it knows where to go.

cedar is toxic to most life forms...you may want to find an aternate nesting material for this little cutie. I don't know who stated the cedar shaving thing for hamsters, I suspect it was someone who thought the shavings were absorbant and aromatic. Not good for the hamsters though.

no that is with a bird i raise these they are called dwarf hamsters. if you touch the baby the mom will always come back to it because the mom and dad are used to your smell and are not threatend by it. now you dont want the dad to be in the same cage as the mom and the babies because the dad will most likely eat theme. put this little hamster was just the cutest. taking his first little steps. so so very cute

You shouldnt really disturb the young until they are walking about with their eyes open. Then just try anddo it when they are sleeping, but dont touch their bed.

well best way is mainly slide a tiny cloth or sheet with a board or something making a little cradle under him then gently move him. It is best not to startle him/her tho, when sliding make sure his 'bed' is padded
