Think about it, this was the height of Super Cena, the jobification of ECW (which actually was entertaining circa 2006) The height of the boring ass Legacy stable in which Orton never won a match clean, and general shittiness. 2011 WWE is somewhat entertaining, but can never match up to the Attitude Era and the Federation Years (1988-1996)
So how about my little cousin made me watch WWE with him because i havent watched it in over a year because it sucks now, so im watching it, and about halfway though i told him i couldnt take it so i went in my basement, dug out my old VCR, grabbed all my WWF VHS tapes from when i was a kid and popped one in and instead of watching John Cena and The Miz argue, i watched The Rock beat the shit out of Triple H in a hardcore match :)

Almost every person in the crowd had some kind of sign relating to one of the wrestlers gimmicks... now its like a civilized laid back girl and little kids screaming kinda crowd. If I was in wwe today i'd be a lil ashamed to think how far they have fallen since the attitude/aggression era. Its sad - i can't watch anymore.

First HIAC, Austin/Hart & the first Buried Alive Match were in PG too, I think people aren't used to change & just like things to stay the same; too bad the world isn't like that. If they changed the RAW & SD themes back to what they were in 2003 I'd just be happy with that. An overhaul would make me uncomfortable at first. McMahon just needs to know WHAT to change to make the product good again.
If Linda McMahon loses to Richard Blumenthal in the upcoming election, there might be some hope that WWE goes back to a more edgy product than the crap we see nowadays, but if she wins, it will probably get worse than it is now. And it's pretty bad as it is. Both McMahon and Blumenthal are horrible candidates. These two were the best that their respective parties had to offer to Connecticut voters?

Vince and LInda need to realize that revenues over the last couple of years have dropped off and the watered down shows of the last two years haven't helped either. If they want to make more money and get back viewers who used to watch, but tuned out, they'll have to change the creative direction.

Because of the serious, and sometimes career-ending, injuries during that time, the deaths in recent years, the drug and steroid scandals, and the complaints about the "mature" sexually-oriented storylines, the WWE was losing advertisers and having the news media (and even the U.S. government) scrutinizing every part of their business.
In short, way too much negative publicity was severely hurting the WWE's image. They had to "clean themselves up" or risk losing advertisers, and fans.
