  • THANK YOU ! IS VERY NICE

  • Yeah! Thank you VERY MUCH for this tutorial, I followed the whole thing from the start, and I must say that I am impressed with the results~! It helped me learn new things with blender as well!

    Kudos to you!

  • I will throw myself into Blender learning soon and first I need to stuff my head with modeling routines like this, mugs, forks, ants etc. to get a grasp of standard and desirable workflows as I'm completely unfamiliar with 3D graphics. It's kind of how you have to learn layers before learning GIMP and learn how vector graphics works before you learn Inkscape.

  • Very nice...thanks!

  • o wait is this a programmm ?? o i tought it was 3d max .. is this much ieser ??

  • @superstijn16

This program is actually Blender 3D. It's an open source program so it is free to use. I don't know if it is actually easier than 3D Max, it is up to the artist and his ability to utilize the program.

  • @Yodaman921 got my anwser 3d is easier

  • @superstijn16 Blenders interface scares most people thats the reason they dont use it.

  • well done- you´ve done that very good in a very quick time 5*

  • what version of blender is this?

  • I really don't remember. It could be 2.48 or one slightly earlier.

  • nice model :D 5*

  • im making a movie about the book starwars death troopers and i was wondering how long would it take to create an army of zombie storm troopers and a star destryoyer in blender

  • You are amazing i could never do this

  • Very good, for a quick model.

But you shouldn't use shape keys for this. Shape keys move vertices in a straight line, the wings should rotate, causing the vertices to move in a curve. it looks okay here as the angle of rotation is low, so it's nearly a straight line, but you'd be better off either having the wings as separate objects parented to the body. Also if all four wings are identical you could mirror one, with the body object being used for the mirroring axis.

  • Why are there two extra lasers on the bottom wings?

  • Oh, it was just the reference picture I was using. The picture was from Star Wars Galaxies.

  • Bleah, Galaxies.

  • I know, but it was the first decent reference picture I could find. The extra lasers can easily be deleted though.

  • On the bright side, the model was excellent. Nice job.

  • Thanks.

  • Do u know how to crease smoothing on faces? This one could really use that... When its smoothed some things like really sharp edges shouldnt be making all the nearby faces half black, should they? To prevent this, select a face/square(or many), and extrude region, and do not move the mouse at all, so its a double face, and press a button to confirm extrusion. This is only good if the model has been smoothed. Use this on the faces separating the window from hull. Im sure u will find more places.

  • what is the hot key when you modificate the cube?

  • What do you mean? When I'm subdividing (w-subdivide), extruding (e), grabbing (g), and then scaling (s). Those are the major ones that I use. Oh, and then adding an edge loop, the purple loop, is Ctrl + r, while hovering over the edge that you want to add a loop to, then left clicking to add that loop.

  • Nice? How would i color it? and add the details on the canopy...

  • Well, there are two methods that you could do.

    1. UV map the entire thing by creating textures in GIMP/Photoshop and then applying it to your figure.

    2. Have verts in the right spot and just use procedural textures, like painting by color.

    I would recomend #1 though.

  • You did an amazing job. I am learning blender in one of my film classes. You should add a video of a flight animation. (Changing S-Foils positions).

  • Hey thanks, although, I may not make a video of flight, since oddly, I can get pretty decent models and tutorials, but not very decent animations.

  • Well, I'd figure animation is a totally different proposition from modeling, which presents its own unique challenges and hurdles...

Nice modeling, anyway. I haven't done a lot of detailed modeling; my ship designs are usually fairly simple. A little artful extrusion here and there could probably create a busier effect, though.
