Sport mode doesn't add any more horsepower than comfort mode, it just holds the rev higher before shifting and it starts at 1st gear from a stop.even with that said, the slk driver must either have a 350 or must have really worn tires cause the slk is rated at 4.3 and e46 is 4.8 (0-60)

I call 'shenanigans.' lol, my SLK consistently ran 13.0's to 13.3's on streets, and ran a 12.8 with intake and gutted trunk. This M3 is definitely not stock, and had no passenger either. you'll also notice after the M3 got the jump, it really didn't clear any more distance on the SLK.

This is a ridiculous video. The SLK driver doesn't seem to be racing. He only speeds up after the M3 takes off and even then the car doesn't seem to be going that fast. 15 seconds into the video, both cars seem to be going about 60 miles per hour (if that). Having driven both vehicles, the SLK-55 is clearly the faster car.

I have the 350, and I came up behind an M3 on the motorway. He was pissed that I flashed him to move (all m5 m3 drivers are wankers) he was determined to stay ahead. Every time he accelerated when a car in front of him moved over, I managed to easily stay with him.

Car in the video is an M3 CSL (limited edition 360 HP only 3100 lbs race track edition).

SLK55 with only auto slushbox is horrible at handling and is a granny mobile.

A basic old E46 M3 stock with 333 HP is a bit slower in a straight line than the SLK55 AMG, but my friend's E90 M3 sedan 6 speed manual with 420 HP royally R*PED! an SLK55 AMG 4 - 5 times right in front of me. Not even a comparison.

Oh yeah, the old M3 E46 still should be able to r*pe the SLK55 around a race track. Look at their Nurburgring lap times and SLK55 rides like sh*t!!! too rough and too harsh.

XGlavonJax, perhaps you have a slight form of retardation, because in the Top Gear comparison between the e92 M3, RS4, and C63, the M3 outlaps the other two by approximately 5 seconds ( per lap). We all know the C63 should win in a straightline drag, however I have seen Autocars shootout between the m3, C63, IS-F and Vauxhall VXR-8, and in that instant the M3 won the drag race pretty comfortably. A DCT m3 will easily pull away from a C63 on a highway pull.

As for the handling... Bmw by a mile.

The SLK has a pax, but the M3 is heavier, (unless it's the CLS) The M3 started accelerating just before the merc, that's why it got ahead and it was off after the second horn wich caught the mec driver by surprise. mind you, little weight differences do not matter that much on rolling starts, as it is harder to make something move from a standstill than when it's already moving.

This M3 has software and the 4.1 diff, so it's a bit quicker than stock. Also, it's a Euro M3 which is faster than US M3, due to not having a set of cats in the headers.

Last but not least, the SLK55 has a 100kg passenger.

A Euro M3 and SLK55 should run pretty close in stock form with a good driver in each.

First of all there is no such thing a a 350. That is an M3 CSL. They only make a few each year and it is an M3 on steriods... So yeah im not supprised it beat the SLK 55. And just so you know, the SLK many have one of the worlds fastest automatic transmissions but its still an automatic

It is an AMG. Unless you don't know what a V8 sounds like. M3 has awesome top end. From a roll M3 has got it. From a standing start, Slk55 can get over it with its mountain of torque.

Anyways, people are in denial. An AMG Slk cannot always win. Just because it lost, doesn't mean the car isn't an Slk55.
